Rep. Nadler: Savage ‘has no shame and no decency.’»

Yesterday, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) responded to conservative radio host Michael Savage’s recent claim that Rep. Tom Lantos (D-CA), who passed away last Monday, used the Holocaust “as a weapon”:

Yet again, Mr. Savage has shown why he has no shame and no decency, and his remarks are an affront to all decent people. Tom Lantos was a great public servant, humanitarian and educator. As the only survivor of the Shoah to ever serve in Congress, Tom’s passing is a great loss to our country and the world. He fought hatred and anti-Semitism — like the despicable remarks of Mr. Savage — everywhere.

The ignorance of Mr. Savage’s remarks makes it clear that Tom’s work is still not done. Every American should commit themselves to the example of Congressman Lantos. I can think of no finer tribute to that great man.”

    WEINER Savage.

  2. Dr. Matt Says:

Sadly, Weiner-Savage is a mainstream reich-winger. The vast majority of the unhinged reich-wing are just as vile and hateful as Weiner-Savage.

  3. Ms_Joanne Says:

    Amen, bruddah.

And a plague on them all!

  4. RUCerious Says:

Someone needs to step on Savage and push him back into the slime he crawled out of.

  5. oldtree Says:

If anyone on this earth allows anyone to put anyone else, en masse, in ovens and does not help……. sorry. I have forgotten that there are still dozens of “nations” where people are killed in daily genocide and it is the civilized nations that don’t seem to want to stop it. We know ours doesn’t.

  6. Uncle Ho Says:

Savage has no shame, no decency.

    Ya think?!

  7. TheRadicalRightisRadicallyWrong Says:

Just one more example of the lasting legacy of the Reagan “fairness doctrine”

    These people make me sick….

  8. bobcat_grad Says:

Savage matters not. He’s preaching to his choir.

They hate, they rant, and they make each other feel good about each other’s hate.

    He’s irrelevant.

  9. ralph the wonder llama Says:

Sure, Savage Weiner is heinous, but does a Congressman need to get his socks stained with the sewer water? Isn’t that what we on the liberal blogs are for? Taking on the scumbags of the Right?

  11. joe cantwell Says:

when i think of savage i’m reminded of a time when the msm really loved the guy.

    from wikipedia:

Savage was hired by MSNBC president Erik Sorenson to do a one-hour show beginning March 8, 2003, despite Savage’s previous criticism of the network in his book The Savage Nation and the objections of NBC employees like anchor Tom Brokaw, who asked NBC executives, “Is this the sort of man who embodies the values of NBC?”[7] Sorenson, at the time, called Savage “brash, passionate and smart,” and promised that he would provide “compelling opinion and analysis with an edge.”[16]

later on they fired him of course. but the “pattern” he set has been carried on by matthews, scarborough, carlson, shuster et al.

  12. Ret. Col. Jack Ripper Says:

The fact that Michael Weiner’s talk show continues to be one of the most popular of the conservative talk shows in the nation says much more about today’s conservatives than about Michael Weiner. Weiner’s an easy target - clearly a self-loathing, sociopathic, paranoid, delusional closeted homosexual (see his much publicised earlier musings about his old friend, Alan Ginsberg’s private parts and frolicking in the nude with him in the south seas) with mediocre intelligence and a hair-trigger temper. The bigger disgrace is that today’s conservatives find Weiner entertaining. What kind of ugly, mysogynistic sociopath does one have to be to find Weiner entertaining?

  13. Ret. Col. Jack Ripper Says:

Let’s remember Reagan’s rationale for vetoing the Fairness Doctrine. He clearly stated that the fairness doctrine was an un-american concept. To Reagan, the idea of fairness was un-american. That’s how sick he was.

  14. LividLib Says:

don’t give this turd the attention he desperately seeks.

  16. GSD Says:

Savage is the Queen Bee of the conservative closet. A self-loathing and embittered former leftist who has embraced the language of hate, abuse and terrorism.

Interesting that the WeinerSavage would stomp a fellow Jew for surviving the Holocaust, eh?

What a despicable bag of festering scum.

  19. deebaser Says:

Is it really necessary to invite trolls to comment? You are only promoting bad fellowship here.

Other than reading about him on this blog, I’ve never heard, or heard of, Savage. TP should not enhance public awareness of this apparent Nazi-style propagandist.

I don’t know - I’d rather be informed about what’s happening on hate radio than to not know it exists.

    agreed. forewarned is forearmed.

  25. katy Says:

    somewhat related:

randi rhodes was talking about the hate radio earlier today…
she related a story about the time she admonished bill clinton after he
signed the communications bill in 98 (?)… “do you know what you’ve done??? this will come back to bite you”…

since 92 the righty radio has been berating the clintons, and in 98
bill made it even easier for them…

and now, all this time the righties have been spoon fed the lies and
innuendo from hate radio… there’s no way any righty is going to vote
    for hillary, no way…

so, it DID come back to bite…

  26. Buckie Boy Says:

    Savage is named correctly.

Savage as in beast, primitive, less than human.

  27. kassandrasduplex Says:

    DON’T INSULT THE JEWS!!!
    They really take offense.
Anyone seen the latest in Israel? The Israeli government is trying to rid the country or Chinese and Japanese chefs from Asian and sushi restaurants. Why?
Because they want ALL the chefs to be Jews.

but, buckie, his real name is weiner, michael weiner…
    even more appropriate…

  29. Tap Duncan Says:

I never would’ve thought that in my lifetime, that we would be dragged back to the most sickening time in modern history just to win an election. This man is a monster. To put to shame the lives of so many in order to win an election is disgraceful. Please tell the advertisers how you feel. This anti-semetism should be stopped. Savage should be sent to the front line, to show how brave he is… And we should take pictures of his soiled underpants to prove to the world that talking and walking are two different things!!!

    Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

  31. marlow Says:

Savage is a fascist. That name gets thrown around a lot but that is what he is. The fascist mind operates on to fundamental themes, fear and hatred. The fascist character is sado-masochistic, lashing out at those it perceives as weaker, and bootlicking/simpering to more powerful authority. Hitler and his thugs were not brave men. They only made moves when they were confident in their calculations of success. They calculated they could quietly occupy the Sudetenland without angering France to war while appeasing England. Fascism victimizes the “little guys”. When the Colonies decided to revolt, they chose to revolt against the strongest Empire in the history of the world, and they did it with no guarantee of success; it was more likely they would swing for what they started. That’s how un-American Savage is; cowardly, hate-filled, beating up on people (dead) who he knows can’t fight back. And it resonates with his crowd of fellow jackals who, sadly for this nation, comprise about 30% of its population. When you listen to Savage, you’re listening in a time machine.

  32. BA Says:

What would the Republicans do if MoveOn made some “uncomplimentary” comments about a Republican Congressman who had died? They would hold a vote in the House condemning the comments and the commenter. Well, Democratic Leadership, here is your chance . . .

  33. Sabyen91 Says:

“Other than reading about him on this blog, I’ve never heard, or heard of, Savage. TP should not enhance public awareness of this apparent Nazi-style propagandist.”

The more people hear this type of disgusting talk the better the Fairness Doctrine sounds. You may not have heard of him (what, is your head stuck in your rear?) but that doesn’t mean he is not a “respected” right-wing commentator.

  34. theWankler Says:

People, lighten up a bit. The guy has every right to say what he wants. I enjoy listening to him almost on a daily bases. I enjoy listening to Noam Chomsky’s lectures equally. Screw the fairness doctraine. Why is it people are soo easly offended.

It is people like McCain and Bush that are dividing this Nation. McCain loves to call people names, like the school yard bully. That ladies and gentlemen is where our biggest problems lay. Our politicians need to stop calling people of America names. Like you are not a patriot if you do not support the war. That is a low blow from the right. Why are our politicians NOT above name calling?

Savage is hardly as much to blame as our own congress.
