Senate Ethics Committee admonishes Craig.

In a letter released today, the Senate Ethics Committee “publicly admonished” Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID) for “attempting to use his public office to get out of his arrest last summer in a Minneapolis airport restroom sting.” The letter, which was signed by all six members of the panel, “also criticized Craig for attempting to withdraw his guilty plea.”

  2. Bobwurst says:

Craig is a joke, but no more than the rest of these clowns. They worry about this crap, and whether or not Clemens used HDH or the patriots taped opponents, all the while letting bush destroy our country. When the history of this congress is written it will be

Oh NO!!! Zooey—-I-DA-HO. How can you stand it?

I’ve went camping there many times, beautiful in the summer (I hate snow), Seattle type of guy.

    Thanks, Buck Fush. :)

I live in a tiny liberal hot-bed in northern Idaho. It could be worse. We got 4 feet of snow this winter. I don’t mind admitting that I was fairly pissed off about that. Not that it matters.

    He’s a slimeball but it’s not that big a deal compared to…..

Bush and Cheney using Executive Privledge and “National Security” to avoid arrest and prosecution for breaking the law.

I have never been able to stand Tappy. He’s as plastic as our former Governor Dirk Kempthorne, who is now the Secretary of the Interior. And our current Governor, now that I think of it. Hmmmm…..

  12. Bobwurst says:

You must be so proud Zooey. You own a sterling piece of republican hypocrisy.

  13. Sabyen91 says:

Well, I am one lucky guy…Baldwin and Feingold to vote for every 2 and 6 years (Kohl can’t be ousted, he has too much money). A Dem governor. Although he is not popular (I actually think he is kind of a schmuck so…primaries).

    Ouch. :-)

I grew up in the Bay Area of California, so while I was oblivious to things less important than boyfriends and cruising, I think I was well represented.

I’m getting the hell out of here for grad school, if I can.

  17. Sabyen91 says:

If you lived in the Bay area you were probably well represented in my opinion. Only those that live near Madison are better represented (though Californians have to get rid of that neo-con Feinstein). Yeah, I would leave Idaho too :)

  18. Zooey says:

When I lived in the Bay Area, Feinstein was on the SF City Council, and she was fantastic, especially after the murder of the Mayor and a City Councilman in City Hall. I’m severely disappointed in her now.

My parents are quite upset that I want to leave the state, but my sons live in Oregon and would like me to live closer, so that’s the stronger pull.

  19. Zooey says:

BTW, I forgot to give SpudgeBoy credit for the name “Tappy McWideStance.” :-)

  20. Sabyen91 says:

I get that, Zoo. Kids are everything (of course mine is only 10 so I don’t know about adult children). Plus Oregon isn’t a god-forsaken rock quarry :)

  21. Sabyen91 says:

Spudge is a Steph fan. As am I. It is one of the only “political” radio shows I listen to.

Unfortunately we have her until 2012

  25. Sabyen91 says:

Ouch. Yeah, Kohl is here til 2012 as well. He is not as bad as Feinstein but I am getting a bit sick of his corporatism. As long as we have Feingold I have hope. Wish he would listen to little brother a little more. All the emails and letters in the world don’t seem to sway him (he hasn’t had a serious challenge in close to 2 decades).

  26. ralph the wonder llama says:

Can I bring up an issue connected with Larry Craig that has never gotten a proper airing in all this?

Craig tried to excuse his “inadvertant” brushing of his shoe against the police officers by claiming he has the famous Wide Stanceâ„¢.

Have any of you people tried to establish a Wide Stanceâ„¢ while sittig on the toilet with one’s pants around one’s ankles?

It’s nigh well impossible. I suppose maybe circus clowns in costume could manage it, but no one who wears normal business attire.

  27. Sabyen91 says:

Depends on how versatile you are. I could put one foot under the left stall and one under the right stall.

  28. Sabyen91 says:

But I wear business casual so that might have something to do with it.

Wow – you’ve just described Di Fi. Her responses, to e-mails, are double speak.
Rest assured that each time she a/o Nancy Pelosi are in town people protest outside their residences.
At the moment one protester lays on a table outside of Pelosi’s SF house. Next up:

  33. Jackie says:

Well now we see what happens when a GOP Law Maker
tries to pick up a man in the men’s room. He is allowed to continue as a Leader and get only “publicly admonished” Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID) for and a nice don’t get caught next time.
At lease the men serving jail time for the same crime, will now know if they had been Republicans they would be free. Fingers Foley should have stayed in office as he would have only been “publicly admonished” for molesting kids while serving in office.

  34. Sabyen91 says:

Unfortunately, WI is ok with Kohl…no protests outside of his home…hopefully the Bucks keep sucking. Maybe that will do the job.

  51. Sabyen91 says:

    Laughing myself silly….

  53. Sabyen91 says:

The guy got busted for being gay, period. He may deserve it for being publicly anti-gay but…until I saw this I had never heard of the wide stance and I would have pushed his foot back.

  54. Sabyen91 says:

And I wouldn’t even have sued for mental anguish.

  55. mudsharks buddy says:

well, say what you want. The guy got busted in a known mens room that had a reputation for illicit activity. That’s why the cops were there in the first place.Sen Craig just didn’t know it.No,I think he went looking for something and found something else.(or it found him).

  56. Zooey says:

I mostly agree, JP, stings like that are fairly bogus — but I’d like to think that if my men were still minors I could send them into a public bathroom without them having to ask me what the two men were doing in the next stall.

Clearly it was a problem at the Minneapolis airport, or they wouldn’t have been having the sting.

Isn’t that what Craigslist is for?

  57. Sabyen91 says:

mudsharks, he may have been looking for something and he was clearly using code. I don’t see how that is lewd conduct.

  58. Sabyen91 says:

Zoo, he was obviously using gay code. Nobody was doing the nasty in the stall. Who is to say he didn’t want to take the guy back to his place? The guy got shafted (not literally). This isn’t a Ted Haggard type thing.

  59. Zooey says:

I agree, JP. Consenting adults, and all that. If he was gonna take his sweetheart to a room, I’ve got no problem with that.

My main problem with Craig is his hypocrisy — which continues to this very day.

  60. Sabyen91 says:

Yeah, that is my problem with him too (and about 50% of all Republicans). The guy is paying a harsh price.

  61. Sabyen91 says:

I am not sure the price is TOO harsh though. I am not gay. I would like to hear from gays to see if they think it is fair.

  62. mudsharks buddy says:

I suppose that would be up to the courts to decide .Intent would come into play.Being that, that mensrooms reputation, but I suppose that is part of his defense. We’ll just have to wait and see.

  63. Sabyen91 says:

How could you possibly tell what the intent was? Do it right there or go back to your place? You can’t prosecute intent.

  64. mudsharks buddy says:

but you guys are right,it’s the hypocricy that fuels this fire.

  65. Zooey says:

I don’t think he’s getting harsh treatment. He deserves worse. He’s a self-hating gay guy, who hides in the hetero world, while denying gays the rights he so richly enjoys.

He’s up for re-election this year. He says he won’t run again, but then he said he would resign — and he didn’t.

  66. Sabyen91 says:

He really didn’t do anything lewd. Touching feet? Really?

  67. mudsharks buddy says:

for that you have to go back to the restrooms history, because,it apparently has one.

  68. Sabyen91 says:

I don’t pity him but I don’t think the law is doing exactly what is called for.

  69. Sabyen91 says:

Unless he was drilling for oil it wasn’t lewd.

  70. Sabyen91 says:

The restrooms history doesn’t seem to be the point. He wasn’t having sex with someone.

  71. Sabyen91 says:

Hell, he wasn’t even pulling a PeeWee Herman.

  72. Sabyen91 says:

Seems to me, law enforcement was just a bit (ok, more than a bit) out of line.

  73. Zooey says:

Hell, he wasn’t even pulling a PeeWee Herman.

  78. tarazan says:

Craig is a good example fake ‘Family Values’ and hypocrisy.
Craig attcked Bill Clinton during the Lewinski affairs for not having enough values, while he himself was making regular visits to airprots’ bathrooms.

  79. whatevah says:

Sabyen91: Perhaps you don’t know Craig’s “history”? Early in his political career, ala 1970’s, there was some sort of sexual brush-up he had which almost cost him his career. It had to do with gay sex. Then he decided to retreat to his “closet” and lead the life of a hypocrite.

  80. whatevah says:

I should have said that he decided to retreat to his closet and lead the life of a typical Repuke – total hypocrisy.

  81. whatevah says:

#77 – I have to laugh each time someone speaks of the GOP and “family values” in the same sentence. They have wandered sooo far from anything remotely resembling family values these days that it’s comical (and sad) actually. In continuous perpetuation of this amoral, illegal war, they forget about family values in the unnecessary murder of our children and innocent Iraqis. I don’t know how they cannot feel mentally challenged with the obvious personal hypocrisy of combining the Iraq war and family values in the same sentence.

  82. Guido OBGYN Lover says:

hmmm…no mention of his sucking cock in public? I guess the Senate didn’t want to “go there”.

  83. williamf says:

What a sad bunch of shitheads. Kicking Clemens around and “admonishing” the toiletman. GD, what will it be next…the mating habits of the aardvark! But look at torture, kidnapping, black sites, election stealing, spying on average Americans without warrants, signing statements and the removal of congress from any meaningful power and congress letting him do it oh no, we gotta mess with pro sports. The only place where average Americans can find any solace. Congress is filled with cowards!!

  84. Zooey says:

  87. BushHater says:

not even the courtesy of a reach around

  88. mudsharks buddy says:

sabyen91.intent is most certainly part of this.because it seems that Sen Craig was the one doing the moves and soliciting.with intent.he got himself busted, plain and simple.
