As ThinkProgress previously noted, the Heartland Institute will host what it calls a “Climate Skeptics’ Conference” next month. Elected officials have been offered lodging and pay for up to 2 nights of accommodation in New York to attend the gathering. DeSmog blog writes, “Membership has its privileges – free trip to New York, free hotel room, I guess political life isn’t as bad as everyone says it is.”
How believable a “Climate Skeptic” are you , after needing to essentially be bribed to attend ?
February 19th, 2008 at 7:09 pmThe assistants to this Republican convention must pay for their own scorts (male, female, or anything else), although.
February 19th, 2008 at 7:21 pmHere is a brief summary from Wiki on who they are.
The Heartland Institute is a free-market oriented public policy think tank based in Chicago. Contributions from individuals, foundations, and corporations make up the bulk of its funding.
The Heartland Institute’s research covers a variety of issues including government spending, taxation, healthcare, and the environment. In addition to research, the Heartland Institute features an Internet application called PolicyBot which serves as a clearinghouse for research from other think tanks such as the Heritage Foundation, American Legislative Exchange Council, and Cato Institute. The Institute’s president is Joseph L. Bast.
The Institute was a member organization of the Cooler Heads Coalition which questioned the impact of global warming and felt that climate control policies hurt consumers. The Board of Directors for the Heartland Institute includes Thomas Walton, an executive of General Motors Corporation.
Now here is a lovely groups of think tanks! PolicyBot… The name says it all.
Dismissed!
February 19th, 2008 at 7:22 pmHow will they stay warm in NYC? Humans aren’t capable of heating anything.
February 19th, 2008 at 7:35 pmSee, look, clean room, fine dining, porno channel, hot tub, free breakfast, swimming pool, free liquor, in room snack bar…
Global warming cant be happening, right? right? Glad you agree, see you at next years week long getaway!!
February 19th, 2008 at 7:41 pmBillions have been pumped into these ‘think-tanks’ to get people to believe that corporate ideology is their ideology. The truth is they start voting to undermine their own interests.
Government hasn’t gotten smaller, nor has the deficit. We have a three trillion dollar budget!!!
February 19th, 2008 at 7:45 pmRobber Baron training for parrot minded people.
February 19th, 2008 at 7:45 pmTechnically the offer seem to only cover lodging. The trip itself isn’t “free.” Though I’m sure interested legislators won’t have any trouble finding a Gulfstream willing to give ‘em a lift.

February 19th, 2008 at 8:13 pmWest Nile, Dengue, Hanta, and a extra helping of assorted other aggressive invaders. Enjoy!
February 19th, 2008 at 8:21 pmWhile Rush and Sean and Ann are muddying the waters about global warming, those waters are rising around their ankles. I wonder what backchannel deals they’ve made with Big Oil, and how much money they got for selling their souls? They can all go to hell as far as I’m concerned. Problem is, they’re risking bringing hell to future generations. How utterly depraved. No one knows for sure that global warming is manmade or that it will be devastating…but to pretend that you know the opposite is pure evil.

February 19th, 2008 at 10:44 pmWe urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.
There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.

If you watched the Power point presentation or the video you would see these scientists illustrate, for you non-readers and video so you can watch and listen. Progressives never give any science except your “ignorant response”. Never any proof, just true imperialism of your ever controlling attitude of the Left. You are the same folks that developed the “spotted owl”; The “Ice Age†of the early ‘70’s. You are a true “watermelon†Green on the outside but red as a communist, you must be about 15 years old, undoubtedly you don’t pay taxes, if you do you are in for a rude awaking!! Good luck with life since you will need it because you did NOT read or view the complete link below or you would have some intelligent response.
