Hundreds of protestors greet Gonzales.

Hundreds of protestors greet Gonzales.

This evening, hundreds of protestors — mostly students — “converged on the steps of the Washington University Music Building” to demonstrate against former attorney general Alberto Gonzales, who was delivering a speech hosted by the College Republicans. Gonzales agreed to answer only pre-approved questions and closed the talk to the press.

    Ah, life in the bubble.

Why do these schools have these boneheads come to speak? They pay them for this, too. Jeez.

Well hopefully the police will be there to arrest him as he comes out.

Does this not tell those Chimpy leg-humpers SOMETHING?

The man can’t even answer questions that haven’t been “pre-approved”. I guess he learned his lesson on Capitol Hill, huh?

but jeebus, how can any Republican’t be proud of this miserable excuse for an AG?

  8. 99Luf Balloons says:

Gonzales was paid a sum of $30,000 for the event; some students and faculty said that was too much.

The sum came out of student government funds, which were approved by an elected panel.

The event was closed to the media.

THere is herent ANTI-education processes in someone who comes to a SCHOOL to speak, and yet closes the speech to the media and only answers questions he/she wishes to answer.
This should AT MINIMUM set the the wheels in motion the COUNTRY OVER to set the minimum of speakers at schools to HAVE to have an open speech and TAKE questions, when paid for GENERAL PURPOSE FUNDS.
NOW IS THE TIME FOR SCHOOLS TO RETOOL THEIR REGS TO COVER THIS RIDICULOUS USE OF A SCHOOL, AND THE STEALING OF GENERAL PURPOSE FUNDS TO FUND A TRAITOR AND PSYCHOPATH.

Bush won’t even allow pre-approved questions when he speaks.

  13. Merlin says:

    From the link:

College Republican Vice President Ryan Winograd said the event has served the purpose of fostering political dialogue on campus.

“He [Gonzales] has a unique perspective, he was a significant player in a lot of the events we’ve seen unfold. We can talk about Guantanamo, wire tapping, all the controversies, U.S. attorney firings…he’s going to bring a point of view that we have not heard before.”

“… that we have not heard before.”

This is simply not possible! (Unless he tells the truth!… Did I just say that??) That this is their view, speaks reams about the level of relevance that the Rethug youth bring to this country! They will, no doubt, be totally out of the political loop for decades.

Read it and weep, trolls! Your bosses will be out of the political loop for decades!

Garsh, one might conclude that Fredo is a chickenshit from this.

And get used to the protesters, Gonzales, It’s kinda like the Furies. Look it up, hijo…

32% reporting in Wisconsin and we have a chilling fact for rethugs!

Total Dem votes casr so far for C & O =314,162
    Total rethug votes=130,852

And that is only with 32% in!

Hey trolls, how are you gonna win in November???

And I can’t wait for it! While we await the world to get his dumb a$$ for his day at court (at The Hague), let the masses show him how much love he doesn’t have, nor ever did.

Oh man, the thought of bursting THAT bubble REALLY sends me into orgasmic mode (and yes, Guido, women can dream, too. ;-) ).

I’m watching the race closely… I am also watching this: Superdelegates loom over Democratic race
IF the superdelegates against the will of the people choose the candidate, whom ever it may be, I am done. I will probably vote for McCain, give the dems the finger, tell the women sorry you will now have to get coat hangers and to the men – sorry about the oncoming wars and draft… then I will leave the country.

Agreed. Our “system” has one more chance to reverse the trend. But, the “system” can’t work without the common voter. I humbly suggest that others take the step of being involved in the nominating process. Write letters, send emails, make calls, yell, scream, whatever. It’s up to US to force our next generation of representatives to be accountable.

I’ve been trying to spread this bumper-sticker idea.

  25. Bluestocking says:

Gonzales agreed to answer only pre-approved questions and closed the talk to the press.

    ***********************************************

Of course he did…because he knows very well that if he didn’t, he’d probably get his own backside handed to him in very short order and drowned by a flood of questions he not only doesn’t want to answer but probably can’t answer truthfully without being disbarred and indicted. Then again, what person in their right mind would expect anything different from someone who has been in Bush’s inner circle?

  26. fitley says:

Repubs cannot let rational people hear them speak because well… they don’t make sense. What kind of question could one ask any way? “Ummm Mr. Gonzales do you now remember anything that you couldn’t then? No? Awesome thank you very much. God you’re awesome.”

  27. Merlin says:

    OT Cont’d

I believe it is a positive sign that there is so much talk about the super delegates. This will cancel out the “closed door, back room” negotiation.

That the public, as well as those delegates that are publicly demanding that the winner be decided by the public vote, will make any vote that goes against the winner very difficult and embarrassing. This is not the rethug party, where secrecy is the norm, and the landslide of voting for Obama will win the day in my view. YMMV! (Your Milage May Vary.)

If Hillary is chosen by the superdelegates and not the popular vote what is this going to do to all the new young enthusiastic voters thinking they are part of a democracy? Obama supporters will sit home and McCain will be our next president. damn!!! One decade of fouled up elections.

  29. Merlin says:

    Wisconsin 73% reporting:

    Obama 57%
    Clinton 42%

This result is far above and beyond almost all predictions. %5 was hoped for! 15%!!! Whew!

I fear it will remain just talk and the process may happen unfairly as planned by some.

If Hillary steals the election with superdelegates she is no better than Bush.

Yep. Lots of time for dirty tricks. Assuming that Bushco allows an election and abides by the law, and will of the people. However, I’m not grabbing a torch and pitchfork until it’s the only option.

  42. donmyers says:

Gonzo is one of the most beloved figures of the era. I’ll bet he reminded the protesters of his rights of free speech. What could one get out of a Gonzo speech? Why would one show for it? Did they charge for seats or did they pay people to be there?

Is Gonzales out on parole? Was he pardoned? Oh, wait–forgot we’re a banana republic now.
