Yesterday in Vancouver, Karl Rove “acknowledged that Bush is a very unpopular president, partly because of the Iraq war,” but emphasized that Americans should be happy that Bush invaded Iraq:
“But I think that people will look back at the Iraq war and say ‘Thank God, he had the courage to do what he did.’ I think we’re seeing the emergence of a potentially stable democracy in the heart of the Middle East.” He disputed a reporter’s reference to the war becoming a quagmire. “The military is succeeding, the violence is down.”
Earlier this month, Vice President Cheney made similar conclusions about Bush’s presidency, saying, “You’re damn right I would” support Bush’s decisions again.
Told ya, Daryll. God is a terrorist.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:06 pmThese creeps will go into the ground refusing to admit they were wrong.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:06 pmThey don’t have police in Vancouver to arrest Rove?
February 19th, 2008 at 12:06 pmWho knows what this sociopath really believes?
February 19th, 2008 at 12:07 pmIt’s funny. When is the last time Cheney took the time to talk to Americans? Katrina?
February 19th, 2008 at 12:08 pmOh Canada, Oh Canada, please revoke his passport and charge him with war crimes. Oh, Please Canada!
February 19th, 2008 at 12:08 pmKarl Rove, the Republican political strategist often described as President George W. Bush’s “brain,” says his Svengali image is a media fallacy.
“I’m a myth. I’m Grendel in Beowulf. Nobody has really seen me. But they think of me often.”
Doesn’t Grendel wind up skewered on somebody’s sword?
February 19th, 2008 at 12:09 pm…and we’re going to hold our breaths until you agree with us!!
February 19th, 2008 at 12:09 pmThank God Rove will be dead one day. Old age even catches up with the most evil among us.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:10 pm“Thank God” we are committing genocide and have used depleted uranium and white phosphorus and tortured and killed hundreds of thousands of INNOCENTS. Rove is a terrorist, traitor.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:13 pmRove forgot the first rule of the pusher:
Don’t use your own product.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:14 pmDoesn’t Grendel wind up skewered on somebody’s sword?
Actually, he tears his own arm off to escape a trap, and dies back in his cave. If memory serves.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:15 pmCan someone point me to the passage(s) in the bible where God is on the side of democracy? I can’t find any.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:17 pm“I think we’re seeing the emergence of a potentially stable democracy in the heart of the Middle East.”
Weasel words, Karl. Actually, Rove gives weasels a bad name.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:18 pmCouldn’t we use Rove to see whether waterboarding is torture?
February 19th, 2008 at 12:20 pmPeter W, I could live with that…
February 19th, 2008 at 12:22 pm“I think we’re seeing the emergence of a potentially unstable clusterfack the heart of the Middle East.â€
There, Karly, that’s more appropos.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:22 pmSo Rove doesn’t think that Israel is a stable democracy in the heart of the Middle East?

February 19th, 2008 at 12:24 pmwhat is Rove doing in Vancouver? why would Canadians allow a terrorist into their country?
February 19th, 2008 at 12:25 pmRE: Where he spewed propaganda..I mean where he spoke yesterday –
“Rove is being sponsored by The Fraser Institute. The institute is a 34-year-old Vancouver-based think thank renowned for its critiques of Canada’s health care system, the leftist bias of its press, the influence of organized labor . . . and its diehard opposition to the Tatshenshini-Alsek Provincial Park in far-north British Columbia.
The park prevented development of a massive open-pit mine in land flanked by the U.S. Glacier Bay National Park and Canada’s Kluane National Park.”
February 19th, 2008 at 12:26 pmThe Conservative Media Opinion Complex is in full spin mode.

February 19th, 2008 at 12:26 pmThanks for the info mary. I was hoping it wasn’t named after a stupid sitcom.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:27 pmYou see, they have right wing fanatics in Canada too:
“The Fraser Institute is an extreme right-wing propaganda factory committed to eradicating the fundamental values of fairness and equity intrinsic to Canada. However, this fringe outfit – with the backing of key sectors of the Canadian corporate and media establishment – is now often portrayed as a legitimate source of research and expert opinion.
We therefore applaud the Institute’s rare display of veracity in publicly associating itself with one of its true mentors and inspirations and plan to join the well-heeled guests expected to attend this fundraising event in celebration of this rare event. It is part of the Fraser Institute’s series titled – with a wry sense of irony that defies any attempt at satire – “Illuminismo†(Italian for enlightenment).”

February 19th, 2008 at 12:27 pmIt is extremely doubtful if the families of the 1.4 million Iraqis who have died as a result of their country being illegally invaded by the United States or the 2 million Iraqis who have been displaced from their homes or the additional 2 million Iraqis who have become refugees from their country are going to be eternally grateful for for the Bush administration allowing their country to be ravaged and destroyed by the less than benevolent United States military.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:27 pmIs that a picture of Rove dancing around the truth? Wouldn’t take much to get one of those.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:27 pmDon’t mean to overload you all with info but please remember that whenever you hear any quotes or information that originate from the Fraser Institure, especially regarding universal health care, be aware of their right-wing bias.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:29 pmWe have a peek into the minds of the deluded.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:29 pmDoes that picture of Rove reveal his bald man’s mullet?
Eeeeeeewwwwwwww.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:29 pmRove: Candidate for Self-Deluded Dude of the Year.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:29 pmPLC, is he dancing? I thought he’d just glimpsed his gibbet.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:30 pmIs that a picture of Rove dancing around the truth? Wouldn’t take much to get one of those.
Comment by PatrioticLiberalChristian — February 19, 2008 @ 12:27 pm
That’s the picture of MC Rove “rapping”. We can only hope one day his fellow prisoners get to see this little snippet of video.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:31 pmYeah, right. Just like so many of my generation are saying “Thank God Nixon keep that pointless war in Vietnam going for so long….” Whatever Bush did, I can assure you that “courage” had NOTHING to do with it.
Rove is not merely a professional liar — he’s bat-shit crazy as well.
When people will look back at the Iraq war, they will see it as a cynical political calculation designed to sway the 2002 elections and keep the Congress in Republican hands. A text book example of the big lie.
They will also see Rove for what he is: a war criminal.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:32 pmIt is extremely doubtful if the families of the 1.4 million Iraqis who have died as a result of their country being illegally invaded by the United States or the 2 million Iraqis who have been displaced from their homes or the additional 2 million Iraqis who have become refugees from their country are going to be eternally grateful for for the Bush administration allowing their country to be ravaged and destroyed by the less than benevolent United States military.
Comment by Erroll
I think he said people would look back…..like from way in the future…after all of those people that you mentioned are dead. Kinda like looking back at viet nam……oh wait…..that didn’t turn out so well did it.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:33 pmI can hardly stand to look at these dimwits anymore.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:33 pmPardon the interruption, but why should anyone believe anything Karl Rove or Dick Cheney says about anything. To wit, a retrospective of the greatest administrative hits:
1. Greeted as Liberators
2. Last throes
3. WMD
4. Iraq connection to al Qaeda
5. Iraq buying yellow cake from Niger
6. No need for large occupying force
7. Oil revenues will pay for the war
wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:35 pmRule #1 of Starting a War:
1. Never acknowledge that starting it was a mistake
This rule has applied for thousands of years and doesn’t matter if a democracy starts a war or a dictator starts it – you never admit starting a war war wrong. Duh.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:38 pmI thought Rove was an atheist.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:40 pmYes a small price to pay for the downfall of the biggest criminal nation on the planet
well done Bin Laden
February 19th, 2008 at 12:42 pmRove: ‘Thank God’ Bush invaded Iraq.
ROFLMAO!
What an idiot rove is, just like his butt-buddy bush.
Maybe bush will invade Iran or Korea next. No wait, Korea has no oil. Forget that one. Aaaah, I know: Venezuela. And you can bet rove will still say ‘Thank God’ bush invaded Venezuela.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:44 pmI have never expierenced so much anger to any nation as America
Bush managed to expose the true American mentality
February 19th, 2008 at 12:45 pmI can hardly stand to look at these dimwits anymore.
Comment by Fritz — February 19, 2008 @ 12:33 pm
You, and me, and millions upon millions upon MILLIONS of others, Fritz.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:45 pmAlso, Iraq isn’t really the heart of the Middle East. It’s more like the eastern fringe of the Middle East.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:49 pmConservatism: Because sometimes being wrong just isn’t enough.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:49 pm“But I think that people will look back at the Iraq war and say ‘Thank God, he had the courage to do what he did.’
———————————————–
Um…yeah. I’m sure the Iraqis will have the same fuzzy warm feelings toward the American occupation that Latvia now has for the Soviet occupation from 1940 to 1991.
Forcing a style of government on a people who don’t necessarily want it is seldom a way to create a lasting positive impression.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:50 pmLie.
ObFUscate.
Lie again.
Rinse.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:51 pmRepeat.
Anjuna Laguna: “Bush managed to expose the true American mentality”
His latest approval numbers in America are 27 to 30%, which is among the lowest for a second-term president in history. His party is on the verge of being routed in congressional elections – Democrats will probably take supermajorities in both chambers and elect a Democratic president as well. His policies are profoundly unpopular in American opinion. So, please be aware of all that. Sorry about the fact that we elected him twice – both elections were extremely close and filled with potential election fraud – it’s not even clear that Bush won either election fair and square. So, I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that Bush represents any kind of “true mentality” among Americans.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:53 pmI wonder when McBomb invades Pakistan, Iran, China and Russia will the ever elusive “cakewalk” be a reality?

Comment by Kay — February 19, 2008 @ 12:53 pm
I wonder if China would lend us the money to invade them.
Based on what I know of Chinese culture and economic policy, I’d say “yes.” They’ve always done things a little differently.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:57 pm#47/ So, please be aware of all that. Sorry about the fact that we elected him twice
Nothing could be further from the truth :
Chimpy Sr.’s friends on the Supreme Court appointed Chimpy Jr.
And the second one, Diebold helped out — just a little.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:57 pmAre the Republicans getting sick and tired of listening to hateful people like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh?
sigh……..
February 19th, 2008 at 12:59 pmIt’s hard to believe Daryll has restrained himself from jumping in and giving Rove a verbal blow job.
February 19th, 2008 at 1:00 pmHow could the pasty-faced, porcine, puke, POS possibly know what people are going to look back and say? I am looking back and saying what a godawful disaster for the US, the Iraqi people and the world.
Here’s a clue POS, it takes NO COURAGE to order an invasion, anyone, even an imbecile could and did do it!
February 19th, 2008 at 1:10 pmIrony is the fact that Rove (famously) doesn’t even believe in God
February 19th, 2008 at 1:13 pmI don’t have time to comment on Rove.
I just don’t think he’s that important. I know some people do, over the years I just don’t see him as worth my time.
February 19th, 2008 at 1:15 pmsince god told bush to go to war why wouldn’t thank him for it and all the sheeples of america that voted this nazi in. let’s not forget his grand daddy help build auschwitz.
February 19th, 2008 at 1:17 pmEvery day, I thank God for my beautiful wife. I thank God the opportunity to have a healthy family, and 4 wonderful children. I thank God that I was in a financial position to start a pharmacy specifically to help those with mental issues, as well as provide services for foster care homes and assisted living residents. I thank God that I am still alive and healthy at 41 years of age.
I do NOT thank God for the deaths of nearly 600,000 Iraqis, as well as thousands of our brave men and women. I do NOT thank God for those that were injured and/or homeless because of this error of invasion.
February 19th, 2008 at 1:20 pmI DO pray every day for the soldiers safe return.
Fascist Kool-aid gorging RoveReich has to repeat this ad nauseum; otherwise, he’ll find himself wearing orange jumpsuits soon.
As for Iraq stabilizing the Middle East, how does Pakistan and what’s going on there prove this?
Besides, the ridiculous failure of the Surge is only being propped up by paying off the Iraqis so they don’t fight. It’s called “deceit of the american people” with a Capital “D”. Payola
February 19th, 2008 at 1:21 pmI thank God that some roid-raging Blackwater mercenaries aren’t busting in our homes and ripping us out for questioning as they are with the poor, helpless Iraqi people. We’re violating their human rights every day that we’re there. We’ve committed the genocide of 600,000 innocents living there. We’ve killed 4,000 of our own military for the greed and lust of a demented president. Maybe KKKKarl thanks god – he should be thanking god right now that he’s not already behind bars.
February 19th, 2008 at 1:23 pmHow about the poor orphans who are victims of our own “collateral damage”? Is Rove thanking god that he’s made that so?
February 19th, 2008 at 1:24 pmctalk – amen. KKKKarl is not worth spending one more moment on. He’s a very sick, twisted, deranged individual who has become a total pariah and embarrassment to this democracy. Someday soon we may see Karl driving a taxi to make a living?
February 19th, 2008 at 1:25 pmI thought Rove was an atheist.
Comment by rehbock — February 19, 2008 @ 12:40 pm
He’s a situational atheist.
February 19th, 2008 at 1:28 pmHas Karl Rove ever been right about anything? Why does the media listen to this guy? Outside of the right-wing community, why does anyone care what he says or does?
No one is “thanking God” for Bush’s “courage”. Instead, millions of people are cursing him for bringing such suffering to the people in Iraq in an invasion based on lies and manipulation and fostered in a climate of fear post-9/11.
Quite frankly, I think that Rove and other neocons “thank God” that 9/11 happened and scared the $hit out of Americans. Otherwise, how would they have been able to push for war with so little evidence, so little cause?
February 19th, 2008 at 1:30 pmQuite frankly, I think that Rove and other neocons “thank God†that 9/11 happened and scared the $hit out of Americans. Otherwise, how would they have been able to push for war with so little evidence, so little cause?

February 19th, 2008 at 1:33 pmIs violence down or is it on the rise? How long will they trot out that canard?

February 19th, 2008 at 2:02 pmI bet Karl thanks God everyday he doesn’t have to fight in the war…
February 19th, 2008 at 2:17 pmIf there was a God, He would surely smite these evil and depraved sinners with multiple plagues of boils/frogs/impotence/fleas, etc.
(Pssst, God, if You’re listening….?)
February 19th, 2008 at 2:17 pmAt least 3860 american families would disagree with this criminal! Why Rove is not behind barrs?!?!?!?!????
February 19th, 2008 at 2:28 pm#68 Buckie Boy
February 19th, 2008 at 2:30 pmYou said it all!!!!! I was trying to put it all in a few words, but as english is a second language I was not quite there. Great comment!
February 19th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
Yeah right Mr. Turd Blossom, everywhere in the US parents are saying “Thank God my child is dead!”
February 19th, 2008 at 2:42 pm“But I think that people will look back at the Iraq war and say ‘Thank God, he had the courage to do what he did.’
Since when does it take “courage” to bullshit all your constituents and send others off to kill and perhaps perish themselves , especially against a nation that was no threat to us ?
February 19th, 2008 at 3:21 pmWasn’t KKK Rove a disciple of Donald Segretti in Watergate?
February 19th, 2008 at 6:11 pmYes, there is a connection Uncle Ho.
1971: Rove drops out of college to devote full time to College Republicans, where he becomes protégé of dirty trickster Lee Atwater, the group’s Southern regional coordinator.
1972: Under mentorship of dirty trickster Donald Segretti (who later went to jail for Watergate), Rove paints McGovern as “left-wing peacenik,” in spite of McGovern’s World War II stint piloting a B-24.
1973: Rove introduces Atwater to Bush Sr. Atwater later becomes “political attack dog” for the Reagan-Bush team, helps Bush Sr. become president, himself becomes RNC chairman, is struck by a brain tumor, and dies.
AUGUST 10, 1973: The Washington Post says it received tape of Rove telling about some of his “dirty tricks.” Rove is rumored to have participated in “dumpster-diving” (looking through opponents’ trash for information to be used against them), crimes such as identity theft, petty larceny, and campaign fraud, and tours to teach other College Republicans how to perform these tricks.
February 19th, 2008 at 6:31 pmDeny, deny, deny to the bitter end. Even the right wing blogs won’t post on such asinine statements. Go ahead and deny Karl. We all understand that honesty is not an option for this administration. Accordingly, denial is your only option.
February 19th, 2008 at 7:29 pmMarie; thanks. I thought there was a link between Watergate & Rove, but not sure to what degree. Sorry for the delayed thanx, was editing my music files for a couple of hours.
February 19th, 2008 at 8:38 pmSomeone please, flush junior’s best friend, The Terd.
February 20th, 2008 at 10:50 amThank God Bush relied completely on Chalabi, a criminal, for assurances of an easy invasion. Thank God he sent too few troops to secure post-invasion Iraq. Thank God he fired the Iraqi Army and had a strict anti-Baathist policy. Thank God he lied that he had ironclad proof that Iraq had WMD, even though it was the reason to invade. Thank God he allowed torture and ruined the image of the United States for decades. Thank God we have killed tens of thousands of civilians, started a civil war, and flamed hatred toward our country across the Middle East. Thank God George W Bush never ever took responsibility for decisions that all proper analysis (including our own military) have concluded were horrific mistakes.
Back in the ’70s, they would be saying Thank God we invaded Viet Nam.
