If any Senator who voted to confirm Mukasey believes he is “independent,” I have an island in New York they might want to buy. Would that be you, Senator Schumer? Oh, what a mess we are in. I continue to believe there is some kind of stupid juice chemical weapon being given to members of congress. Can’t anybody do anything?

If the dems in congress don’t start to enforce these things, they are not doing their job of oversight.

Screw the letters…send in the US Marshals and get that jail cell in the congressional building all prepped for all of these damned criminals.

remember that Ashcroft is now a private citizenâ€¦..he cannot claim executive privilege (not that he could have anywayâ€¦.). If he refuses to testify (or at least plead the â€˜fifâ€™), then heâ€™s really screwed (at least until the pardon).

The lawlessness of this administration knows no bounds. Time for Inherent Contempt. It’s the only thing that will work. If Congress allows them to throw this stuff into the court system, they will run out the clock.

Actually….answering a summons is ALWAYS a choice. The named party can ALWAYS refuse service……but there are ALWAYS consequences. Well, at least for the rest of us normal folks.

The worst part of Congress’ lack of action is the precedent it is setting by not performing its constitutionally mandated duties…watch, in the future every defendant will simply say, “I chose not to comply because in the case of Congress v. Ashcroft, Meirs, Bush, Cheney, etc, the courts held that defendants may use a subpoena or summons as toilet paper.”.

Hearing postponed because Ashcroft and Christie refuse to testify? What sort of investigative system is that? The more obvious and corrupt, the greater opportunity to slip through the cracks of the system. Instead, call for an immediate hearing telling the possible criminals that they must appear and have the ultimatum delivered by the Federal Marshall’s Office.
