Recently, we all got whiplash as he endorsed the practice of waterboarding in a series of Senate votes. McCain is for torture? What? How is that possible? Well, he SAYS he’s against torture. But, when the cards go on the table he VOTES for it. He plays honorable crusader for the media, but votes as just another Republican foot soldier.

Right now McCain is criticizing Obama for not pledging to take public financing for the general election AT THE SAME TIME McCain is trying to pull out of public financing for the primary?! What?! And, McCain can’t pull out of public financing because it looks like he’s broken the rules by taken loans early in his campaign which would be against the rules.

Now we find out that he’s cozying up to lobbyists, possibly having an affair, and giving out legislation as sexual favors. Should any of us say we’re surprised?

I have never claimed to be Mr. Perfect. I apologize if you feel that I was being overly critical, but that was not my intent.

Maybe, if we kept our energy to go after the regressives and their indefensible policies and platforms rather than snark other progressives, we’d be better off.

In defense of Tracy2, he/she actually sticks to the material of the thread, and initially starts by attacking the article (not that I agree with him/her on the validity of the attacks, I’m waiting for more info to come out before making my decision). Too bad he/she gives into the urge to personally attack..those posts have been flagged.

All the rest of ‘em? Flag away. Especially ‘John Kerry’.

Now, obligatory on-topic:

This will at the minimum reinforce the evangelical’s beliefs that McCain is not their candidate. Trolls, you’ve got it so hard. Democrats are turning out at nearly 2 to 1 ratios over your own people and independents are breaking hard to Obama. At his best, your President only enjoy a 30% support rating, which incidently matches your percentages of Republicans in the general populace. Democrats never were your supporters, and now, you’ve lost the Independents. If newer polls are to be believed, he is now less than 20%, which indicates some of your base is fleeing his support as well! Your candidate has already been tarnished by the 2000 primary, and new dirt will keep coming out on him. And the sad thing is that now that this is out, you can’t even count on the Evangelicals again.

I can see why you’re screaming so loud. If this affects the Bible-Thumpers, you’re sunk. They’re your last, best hope for power. Without them, you’re back to your true base, the 10% of society that controls 90% of the wealth. At least you’ll get more money from your benefactors to stir up crap here.

I think this is the first in a long string of screwups that will plague McCain all the way to November. He’s already running up hill against support for an unpopular war and the second recession in 8 years. Throw in his temper, and you may have your very own Dean moment. Statesman? You don’t have one. You’ve not had one since at least Reagan, maybe even further back than that. Obama looks like he might make a good statesman, especially if he lives up to his comparisons to JFK. And America is SICK and TIRED of the Bush years and everything that brings.

As LP said, the most bitter pill for you to swallow come next year will be looking at a black man (or white woman) and having to acknowledge that he’s now President. Better start looking forward to 2012, because methinks 2008 is out of your reach…

There’s no “try” about it, and the funny part is that it’s Sen. McCain who’s smearing himself with his own mis-deeds of his past!

If only Sen. McCain had gotten the Bush “cover-up” team to go over his past before he tried for the nomination, then there’d be less substance to the facts that follow him about.

Sen. Kerry is a war hero, but your side had no problems with smearing him. Now that Sen. McCan’s past is smearing his own candidacy, why are you complaining about “war hero” status? Got nothing else to spew?
