McCain’s environmental rating: 0.

By Satyam Khanna on Feb 21st, 2008 at 4:20 pm

McCain’s environmental rating: 0.

The League of Conservation voters today rated Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)’s environmental record. McCain scored 0 percent in 2007 (24 percent lifetime) “due to missing all 15 votes scored, including the key vote on repealing tax giveaways to big oil — a measure that failed by only one vote.” The Sierra Club notes:

McCain was the only member of Congress to skip every single crucial environmental vote scored by the organization, posting a score lower than Members of Congress who were out for much of the year due to serious illnesses–and even lower than some who died during the term

So the only difference between McCain and his fellow Repubs is that McCain will TALK about the problem global warming creates and the others won’t?

Not too surprising. McCain’s voting record shows he’s caved on torture, so why not the environment?

Of course his environmental ration was 0. He had to do something to get conservatives to vote for him. /sarc

McCain is such a hypocrite and a liar that he’ll probably come out saying that he’s the only completely “green” candidate in the election.

Check out this article that makes fun of McCain’s “liar’s tells.” My favorite part is the excessive blinking… how many times can a person blink in an hour?

  11. zathrus says:

He’s got a pretty interesting voting record… 55.7% votes missed in 2007, and mostly voting with the Republican party except for:

    1) voted against ban on Gay marriage
    2) voted for an immigration bill featuring guest workers and a path to citizenship
    3) voted to fund stem cell research on embryos which would other be destroyed.

So, basically, he’s a seriously flawed conservative, and a waste of a Senate seat. I know this isn’t new information, but the WaPo project makes it clear when you look at his actual voting record.

Don’t want the RNC 19%ers throwing fits about doing the right thing, now do they.

Vote the GOP (gross old perverts) way or the highway, so he thought it best to not vote at all.

In another area of environmental disaster check out this link to find yet another buried story by the wonderful ‘liberal media’.

This information needs to be made public regarding McCain, it shows how money does matter and people and environment do not to this senator.

The League of Conservation voters gave him a zero, their lowest mark.

However, The League of Conservative voters also gave him a zero, but that is their highest mark.

I expect we will see him cave on pretty much everything he stood for when he was once what one could call a “maverick”. He’s nothing more than McPander these days. He has backtracked on immigration, campaign finance reform & torture. Now the environment. And by not voting, he is showing what a disingenuous person he is. He can’t stand up for what he believes in so he just doesn’t vote. Is that someone we want as our President?

that’s the way the republicans like their presidents: lazy, irresponsible and stupid.

    Two comments:

…on Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) unethical relationship with lobbyist Vicki Iseman. Kristol tried to have it both ways…

So how is this different from any other topic? Kristol always tries to have it both ways. His real problem is that both of his ways are almost always WRONG.

…Kristol, who once argued the NYT “isn’t a first rate newspaper”…

And then they proved it by hiring HIM!

So much for the NYT’s editorial standards, eh Bill?

He blinks in morse code for the Republican voters: “Don’t mind for my words, if you vote me, I’ll be a jerk as big as Bush when I reach the White House”.
