Larry Craig receives standing ovation.

By Faiz Shakir on Feb 24th, 2008 at 10:05 am

Larry Craig receives standing ovation.

The South Idaho Press reports:

craigA standing ovation for Sen. Larry Craig’s service to Idaho was the highlight of the Mini-Cassia Lincoln Day Luncheon presented by the Republican Party committees of Cassia and Minidoka counties Friday afternoon at Morey’s Steakhouse in North Burley. [...]

Craig was given a painting by renowned local artist Robert Moore. … But Craig was careful to clarify the status of the painting after taking the microphone. He said the painting would be on loan until he finishes his term in office next year. Only then would he accept it as a gift.

“We’re going to remain ethically correct for the remaining nine months,” Craig quipped.

    ETHICALLY CORRECT.

    BWAHAHAHAHAH!

  2. 99Luf Balloons says:

He should have just said “I am not gay.”

  3. DieNowForPeace says:

“We’re going to remain ethically correct for the remaining nine months,”

So he’s either coming out of the closet, or waiting till he’s out of office to “go gay”?

  4. tarazan says:

    Was it a ‘bathroom’ painting?!!

  5. barfly says:

Jefferson just found his defense strategy.

  6. barfly says:

While saying nothing of his moral perversions…

And who will be his running mate?

Pat Paulsen’s dead – how about Tommy Chong?

It worked so well for Nader in 2000, he skipped 2004. But he sees the Democrats will probably win this year, so he decided to try to do 2000 again.

  11. mparker says:

    I’m thinking still life.

Perhaps a pair of red ballet slippers draped across the water tank.

  12. barfly says:

Oops, forgot Tommy is a convict, so he can’t run.

    Bummer, man.

  13. Wayne says:

And who will be his running mate?
    Comment by barfly — February 24, 2008 @ 10:24 am

He will probably run for both, since the Cheney vice presidency, the Vice President has more power than the president now, don’t ya know? And the Vice Presidency is in it’s own 4th branch. =P

  14. DieNowForPeace says:

Has anyone ever sounded more gay when he claimed in his shaky high voice:

“I’m not gay, I’ve never been gay.”

    REALLY?????????????????

  15. Marie says:

Is Nader on the Republican payroll?
The spoiler is an egomaniac. Why didn’t he just remain with Consumer Reports.

  16. Guido OBGYN Lover says:

He then offered to give anyone in the crowd a blowjob.

  17. km4 says:

We’re going to remain ethically correct with a wide stance for the remaining nine months,” Craig quipped.

  18. barfly says:

“Is Nader on the Republican payroll?”

He’s hoping to ride in on the strength of the college-age voters. There’s a whole new crop of young, naive, dupes, not yet schooled in his duplicitous ways, just waiting to be exploited. If he can get them to the polls, that is.

  19. Doc Rock says:

Was the painting a portrait of Ben Dover?

  20. natisman says:

Larry McWideStance will never be ethically correct! He’s a hypocritical sexual predator, for gawd sakes.

    Comment by satirev —

I don’t know if he is a predater, but he sure is a hornswallgler, a hypocrite, has sex in the potty, besides trying to get off his conviction with bad reasoning.

He probably will be a predator in time though, hanging out at RePUG piknics behind the porta-potties.

  21. Wayne says:

“We’re going to remain ethically correct for the remaining nine months,” Craig quipped.

“As opposed to the last 7 years”, Craig added.
“Here, here, for the Tapping Foot of Democracy”.

  22. Xisithrus says:

I didnt accept a gift, its a forever loan!!

  23. Xisithrus says:

Decoded: I promise not to hang out in mens restrooms and sexually harassing people for nine months.

  24. Ben Dover says:

The only reason Wide-Stance got a standing ovation was that all of the men preferred that position to being bent over, when Larry was around.

  25. fletc3her says:

I wish the Senate had an ethics committee with some teeth. Delaying a bribe by nine months is no better than simply taking a bribe. But, Craig knows that the ethics committee won’t be able to act before he leaves office, will be distracted by the election, and won’t hand down anything more than a censure in any case. When one has no honor a censure hardly means anything.

  26. Xisithrus says:

He should not take that picture now or later. He should go out and BUY the damn thing if he wants it.

  27. flavorino says:

    HAHA!
    Republicans are crazy!
At least the ‘new style’ Republicans.
Larry Craig, Denny Hastert, Mark Foley, Duke Cunnigham, Trent Lott, Bill Frist, Karl Rove, Jack Abramoff, Rush Limbaugh, Alberto Gonzales, GW Bush, Tom Delay, Mitch McConnel, and on and on and on what a parade of twisted psychologically disturbed, substance abusing, perverted, lying, thieving, hypocritical closeted homosexual freaks.

The Republican Party needs a serious house cleaning.

  28. kdawg1012 says:

Nothing from Craig surprises me. He should have resigned when he said he would.

Tappy McWideStance had to go to Cassia or Minidoka counties for a standing ovation — they are the ONLY counties in Idaho where he’d get one.

I seriously doubt that Nader will be able to take these new young voters away from Obama. They are all smart enough to know that Nader is a loser and a vote for him would really be a vote for the Republiscums.

I do wish that someone would kick Nader to the curb. He is a sad egomaniac with nothing to contribute.

  38. ArtZ says:

    It wasn’t a standing ovation…
They were just getting up to leave.

  39. deeply worried canadian says:

doesn’t it seem strange to not accept a gift while holding office but to announce that as soon as he is out of office, he will be claiming that gift which he wasn’t allowed to accept? I mean, isn’t it unethical to accept gifts while in office for when he is out of office?

  40. Buckie Boy says:

Larry Craig receives sitting ovation, the tapping could be heard for blocks away, the audiance had an usually wide stance and they all touched feet. The rows of bathroom stalls were filled very quickly, and many had to stand outside the stall doors for their turn. The painting titled, “I’m not gay” was admired by all.

  48. Jackie says:

This shows and proves that the Republican Party really approves of men soliciting for sex in the men’s room. Yes American is proud of our Law Makers who molest children, men who solicit men for sex in the men’s room and of course hiring prostitutes. Lying under oath is now legal in the United States. As for our recession have you noticed that all the appointees who committed crimes and lied under oath now have high paying jobs. Yes while the honest American is being fired, laid off or down sized the White House ex employees are hired faster then you can say Jackie Robinson. As for the rest of the American people we will have to wait for those rebate checks, with the hope all the monies in the check.

Your last statement in your comment undermines everything you said.

But really, Nader proposes what Obama and Clinton won’t.
At lease Nader wasn’t ABSENT on the FISA bill that grants immunity to corporations from the Fourth Amendment. At least Nader wasn’t ABSENT the day Liberty and freedom from TYRANNY died in the Senate.

WHAT DOES CONGRESS SUPPORT AND DEFEND IF NOT THE CONSTITUTION?

Well, both Obama and Clinton were ABSENT the day the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution of the USA came under direct assault. And they want to be the top brass?

America has been afflicted by an ABSENT Administration on so many issues, why elect someone who has shown that they too, can be ABSENT on issues that fall under the umbrella of their Oath of Office; The Constitution of the USA?

    .

  50. Shayne says:

Well if Nader is going to run then Ron Paul should run as an independent too. He has way more money to spend then Nader does and much more support.

In short, a pro forma attempt to do the unethical while coming up with a cover story to make it look ethical.

Standard republican MO to bend the rules to their own advantage.

Please tell me that one of the entertainers was a tap dancer!

As you ID states… I understand you hate facts…

    FACT:
I’m a registered Democrat. Have been for 20+ years.

    FACT:
No trial lawyer goes into a trial based upon the verdict. The verdict comes AFTER the trial. And seeing that you’re putting the cart well past the finish line even before the horse is in the gate, why aren’t there enough votes? Perhaps because there has been no trial.

    FACT:
Obama and Clinton WERE ABSENT! The third absentee was in the Middle East. That’s not drama, that’s fact. They’re fence sitters and that’s just fine? They were too busy to be bothered to vote because they are running for president? Since when can sitting Senators become ABSENT in the defense of America’s Rights?

    FACT:
You can not guarantee that electing a fence sitter who can not commit to the promises they make, instead committing to “CHANGE” of their mind will be any different than the status quo we have now. PROVE that electing either Clinton or Obama will suddenly end warrantless wiretapping; End the use of TORTURE; End the continued occupation of Iraq/Afghanistan; End the Patriot Act and the MCA of … YOU CAN’T!!! And their records only show what they are capable of… more spending on Iraq/Afghanistan occupation; More warrantless wiretapping of Americans; Patriot Act III(anyone?); No Habeas Corpus Rights…

So, while you’re blowing it out you’re ears, nose and mouth, don’t forget to plug that other orifice of yours, ’cause that’s where most of the bi-pass is coming out of.

    .

  54. Sabyen91 says:

Craig keeps using that word, I don’t think it means what he thinks it does.

To call a gift a loan until he is out of office is NOT ethical. It is called accepting a gift.

  55. Cats r Flyfishn says:

Republicans, such hypocrites. It’s okay for Republicans to solicit sex with prostitutes, either same sex or opposite sex is fine. Pedophilia is also allowed for Republicans. Just don’t any Democrat try this sh*t,
