Ashcroft agrees to testify.

Ashcroft agrees to testify.

Former Attorney General John Ashcroft agreed today to testify before Congress, a day before a House Judiciary subcommittee was scheduled to discuss subpoenaing him. Ashcroft will “appear at a federal hearing looking into no-bid contracts he and others received to monitor out-of-court corporate settlements, including a New Jersey deal in which Ashcroft stood to make millions of dollars. ” Chris Christie — the U.S. Attorney who awarded Ashcroft his sweetheart deal — has not agreed to testify.

ALways the only thing that these criminals do is wait for the axe to be ready to fall.

I’d probably get alcohol poisoning Zoo from taking what 50-65 shots??

  4. Zooey says:

Heh. Depends on the rules, Zep. If we drink every time he tells the truth, we’ll be sober as monks.

  5. Xisithrus says:

Okay, I know, every three I dont recalls’ is one shot.

  6. Shayne says:

All these guys need is one conviction, after Bush is out of office, for the feds to put the screws to them to get them to turn on each other. For testimony you get to go to a better federal prison, when you play hardball you go to a worse one. Let the games begin!

I really wish I weren’t so cynical. I just don’t seem to be able to help it.

    On three, everyone…

    “I can’t remember”

    “I don’t recall”

    “Those aren’t my recollections, Congressman”

    “Executive Privilege”

and, of course, when all else fails: “911!!!!”

  12. dlet says:

Hey Ashcroft is playing the game correctly. Gotta get those charges in against you so to be pardoned before the Idiot in Ofiice’s time is up.

I’d like to see some coeds, like the ones in those Girls Gone Wild videos, sitting in the front row and give him a peek, just to see the prudish bastard stammer. Maybe it would shock him into being truthful.

  14. jb says:

Why can’t these GOOPers actually work for a living instead of scamming? Ashcroft seems fit to clean toilets.

Since he’ll be facing the House Judiciary Committee I’d venture that the shock of all that wrinkled white flesh would be more than any human being could reasonably be expected to handle- which means it might be just the thing to shake the Eagle out of his self-induced coma…

Holy Cow! (Yes capital letters appropriate).

Lets see how the Congress critters deal with more of the “I don’t recall” repeated for 2 hours…

  17. kassandrasduplex says:

This will amount to another go-nowhere-convict-nobody investigation.
If Ashcroft is ever indicted and convicted Bush will pardon him. But more likely the corporate media will spin a couple of sentences about it and then distract the audience with some disaster or negative story about Hillary Clinton.

Or… Breaking News, Britney Spears is in an ambulance on her way to the hospital! She apparently fell down while reaching for the beer that she had one of her children retrieve for her. We’ll have more details after this word from Enzyte!

His memory has been severely compromised by his “health issues”!?

  21. bilbobaggins says:

“I know nothing”. That will be his defense.

  22. mparker says:

Chris Christy is another one of the prosecutors Bush found to be OBEDIANT enough to keep. He was used to trump up charges against Senator Menendez of NJ just before the last election.

    It didn’t work.

Christy needs to be investigated with every other Prosecutor Bush “kept” for his very own purposes.

When did testifying in a congressional investigation become optional? Last January – when the Democrats took over?
