Romney may rejoin GOP presidential race.
The Los Angeles Times is reporting that “Josh Romney, one of former Gov. Mitt Romney’s five sons, says it’s ‘possible’ his father may rejoin the race for the White House.” Earlier this month, Romney “suspended” his campaign and endorsed Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) bid a week later. But Romney has yet to comment on the recent New York Times article on McCain’s close ties to lobbyists and “still retains control of the nearly 300 delegates he’s already won.”

Talk about jerking someone's chain. Will Romney do the same as President? Will he drop out when times get to hard for the American people and then come back after someone has solved the problems? What about that promise he made the voters of Michigan as he said he would bring back the car industry. Oh well some things never change.

And now that somebody else is looking vulnerable, so now Romney wants to pull a Gary Hart.
Remember when it was the "liberal smear machine" that was supposedly responsible for all the McCain lobbyist stories? And yet this turn of events benefits the far right, who want McCain gone and Romney in.

Not sure if you were joking but I think this may be truer than many of us realize. If you read what Rove has achieved in Alabama with dirty, corrupt Republicans anything is possible. I don't think for one minute that Rove is "out" of politics. I think Rove resigned to be able to go about seeing to the 08 elections in a quiet (covertly) manner.
Romney's "suspend" terminology was suspicious from the start and now it seems amazingly clear.

Failing that, he will have to keep McCain from getting 309 more delegates to keep McCain from getting the nomination on the first ballot.
This is too little, too late for the far-righties, and all they will accomplish with their tactics is to bring down everybody on their side and allow the Dems to win in November without a struggle.

I heard an interesting story about this on NPR a few weeks ago. Apparently, most campaigns actually suspend operations when a candidate drops out - they don't fully close right away. For legal and financial reasons, they may spend months to years actually closing down. A campaign is essentially a small business, and the suspension period is the going-out-of-business sale.
Now whether that's exactly what's happening in the Romney campaign now is anyone's guess. But it's a good story:

You're right -- I didn't read the linked story, because for some reason that link isn't working for me. Since I still can't get to it, I'll go by your quotes. A veep candidacy is always a possibility for anyone who has suspended their presidential campaign, dropped out of the presidential race (Edwards, 2004), or was never in the race at all. That wouldn't even be newsworthy at this point, unless there are some interested parties campaigning for McCain to select Romney as a running mate and they want to start early.
As far as McCain dropping out, I don't see that happening. Not when he's thisclose to getting the nomination, and expected to do well in Texas and Ohio despite whatever stories are flying around about his history and current relationships with lobbyists.
I'm guessing this is just an attempt to keep Romney on the radar. Which surprises me a little bit. Normally, the GOP is all about smoothly organizing their coronations, showing a highly polished infomercial to the American public showcasing a united front by convention time.

You know very well that Obama has never served in the military, and you are using his lack of service as some kind of rebuttal against as accusation that Romney's children aren't signing up.
Your point appears to be that if you condemn one man for not volunteering, then you must condemn all men for not volunteering.
Wrong.
What we do is condemn chickenhawks for not enlisting. Or for not encouraging their children to enlist. Romney is an unapologetic supporter of the war in Iraq, even though he skated out of Vietnam duty on deferments. His children have never served, either. Which is fine -- there's no obligation to serve, and his children have not gone on public record as supporting the war. But Romney made his children's service an issue when he claimed that they were "serving their country" by helping him campaign -- as if that even BEGINS to be on the same level as volunteering to get killed (and that's why we make fun of his children and their "service", if you must know -- not because we have anything personal against his kids).
Meanwhile, Obama never did any draft-dodging -- by the time he came of draft age, there was no longer a draft. Furthermore, we weren't at war with anyone at the time. But most important, he did NOT support the invasion of Iraq, and has been a voice against our Iraq policy. A chickenhawk he ain't.

According to the Doctrine, there's still hope for you and that skin color. If you convert and live the life of a good Mormon, that skin color will change over a few generations and become "white and wholesome".
It's ironic to hear a Mormon whine about prejudice. I grew up as one of the few non-Mormons in a small town and prejudice was the name of the game. I got used to my status of one of the spawn of Satan.
