Leader of Iraqi journalist union dies after gun attack.

Shihab al-Tamimi, the “head of Iraq’s biggest journalist organization,” died on Wednesday, just “four days after being seriously wounded by gunmen who opened fire on his car in Baghdad.” Tamimi was known for his outspoken views about the Bush administration’s policies in Iraq. The Committee to Protect Journalists recently called the Iraq war the deadliest conflict for journalists in recent history.

There’s forced labor in the United States, too. What does this have to do with CNN’s journalistic integrity?

  22. davemartin7777 says:

No, I’m just saying that thousands of men and women trafficked for the purposes of involuntary servitude will never have a voice in Al Jazeera because, Qutar, their base of operation, condones nvoluntary servitude, aka Slavery.

    Better?

Anyway, thanks for letting me highlight the problem of human slavery in the middle east.

Thanks for stopping by, concern troll.

Let us know when you want to discuss human slavery in the United States – I can post links too…

  25. davemartin7777 says:

So I’m not a fan of Al-jessera because they don’t report human rights abuses…SO?

    It’s called INDEPENDENT THOUGHT pal.

I’m thinking you must be a Reich-wing gatekeeper here to troll or you must be nuts.

Here’s my post, you sure do filter out quite a bit, eh?

I mention an US missile landing in their office, notice that?

I’m no fan of Al Jazeera, but I remember A US missile “accidentally” landing in their Baghdad office back in 2003.

  26. davemartin7777 says:

    toasterhead,

Ok, I’ve got it now… just clicked on your link.

    Crystal clear.

Maybe, your “Jihadosphere” will be a little more successful if you can make your point without being rude.

Planning on putting your 6yr old son on the back of a racehorse in Qutar soon?

    They do that you know.

No doubt of Al-jessera will inform me how he placed.

    Regards

  27. dbadass says:

    Where the hell is Qutar?

  28. davemartin7777 says:

I’m sorry dbadass my bad, it’s spelled Q-A-T-A-R, and it’s in the Middle East.

That a little better for you?

Apparently toasterhead belives that trafficking in human slavery is OK in the Middle East if there are example of it in America.

That’s the specious “tu quo que” Sean Hannity school of logic.

  29. dbadass says:

Thanks but I am well aware of where it is and how it is spelled. I think toasterhead would be opposed to human trafficking anywhere and might have wondered how it related to the topic.

Another success for Iraqi democracy! He should have been buying carpets in McCain’s favorite market place!

  31. davemartin7777 says:

I’m a pretty open minded, liberal guy toasterhead, but you’re going to have a hard time convincing me that rampant, forced servatude as practiced in the Middle East is ok.

Maybe that story will make it into Al Jazeera someday… not.

Here in America, Democrats, Independents and even some Republicans are against the practice of human slavery.

In Middle East it is condoned by the ruling monarchs, per their burgeoning need for manual/ skilled workers and sex slaves.

    See the difference or no?

Best of luck finding a forum for your views.

    You’re an idiot. Wow.

I never said trafficking or slavery was okay in the Middle East or anywhere. It’s not condoned by politicians in the U.S., and it’s not condoned by leaders in the Middle East, including Qatar. But it still happens in both places, and in many other parts of the world.

How often does it get reported in Western and Middle Eastern media? Pretty darn rarely. It should be reported more often in al-Jazeera, and on CNN, and on MSNBC, and in the BBC, and other news media. I just find it interesting that you have so much hatred for al-Jazeera for not reporting on trafficking in Qatar when not many other media are reporting on it either.

At least al-Jazeera has the guts to cover other human rights violations in other parts of the world, like Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Colombia, Guatemala, Sri Lanka, Cameroon, and Kenya. Unlike most U.S. media.

  36. davemartin7777 says:

    Blah, blah blah.

You called me a troll because I said I’m not a fan of Al Jazeera.

Why? Because of their COMPLETE, NON-COVERAGE of the rampant use of forced labor, sex slaves as part of the Middle East Monarchs, “modernization” building frenzy.

How can ANY sane person have a problem with that???

YOU need to apologize to me, how’s that sound?

And don’t give that, “other people do it too” crap.

    http://www.iabolish.org/slavery_today/country_reports/ae.html

  37. davemartin7777 says:

My God, you SERIOUSLY justify al-Jazeera and the Royal’s tacit approval of the rampant use of slavery in the ME because of their great coverage of the issue in Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Colombia, Guatemala, Sri Lanka, Cameroon, and Kenya???… wow, that’s seriously out there buddy.

Bottom line, you choose to call me “troll” and “idiot” because I say that slavery unacceptable in a civilized society.

    Have a nice day.

  38. davemartin7777 says:

Shame on you for thinking that liberal and progressive are comfortable with slavery as practiced in the Middle East or anywhere in the world.

And shame on al-Jazeera in Qatar for not giving those people a voice.

    Got it buddy?
