McConnell: Karzai controls only 30 percent of Afghanistan.

In testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee today, Director of National Intelligence Michael McConnell said that “the Afghan government under President Hamid Karzai controls just 30 percent of the country,” while “the resurgent Taliban controls 10 percent to 11 percent of the country.” The majority of the Afghan population, according to McConnell, “remains under local tribal control.” More on the current state of Afghanistan here.

Right, how about 12.7%. That’s more like it. The population of Kabul and a few outlying mudhut villages.

This man is a TRAITOR to his country and all Americans.

The Bush gang and their GOP associates can’t be removed from power fast enough.
They are a dangerous, destructive and incompetent bunch.

More to the point, HOW much do WE CONTROL?

Bush took his eye off the real objective for profits for the oil lords and now we have this crap.

The Mayor of Kabul. Yes they have been calling him that for many years.

  8. tarazan says:

That’s probably why McCain is offering the ‘100 years solution’,and ‘we are winning this war ’slogan.
“We have a long way to go, my dear friends, just be patient”, MCInsane said.

That’s what Soviet leaders used to tell their people…”we are winning the war in Afghanstan”, until they had to face reality.

Europeans are not willing to send more NATO troops to Afghanstan…meaning Americnas have no way out.
Forward means more troops, backwards means Talibans are back.

  9. ForTruth says:

I thought it was 30% of Karzai had control of Afghanistan.

  10. Fan of Man says:

who gives a crap how much of bushco’s puppet controls afgan…. the less the better!

Way to take your eye off the ball, Bush and company.

The only thing Bush’s library could possibly have books on is how to screw things up. That’s all he knows anything about.

  12. Badmoodman says:

Yes, but doesn’t Karzai look tres chic in his native garb?!

John Hagee is one of biggest, fattest, hypochristian a**holes to walk the earth!

You only become a mega-church once enough sheeple start to listen to your hate-mongering bullsh*t and nod to every word. Kind of like the millions of dead-from-the-neck-ups that watch the 700 club each week.

  14. Mr. Evil says:

Karzai’s native garb seems to hide the strings very well.

Off topic: Can you believe this shit?! The DOJ is going to investigate Roger Clemens testimony before Congress about his alleged use of steroids and HGH. Wow! I’m so impressed! Our country is bankrupt, run by criminals, for criminals, has a president that doesn’t know up from down and has lied so many times his nose should weigh 10,000 pounds, a vice president that has never been right about anything, government corruption on an unprecedented scale and they have time to investigate a baseball player?!!! OUR JUSTICE DEPARTMENT HAS ABOUT 100,000 MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO INVESTIGATE RIGHT NOW AND THEY ARE WORRIED ABOUT THE HORRIFIC CRIMES OF ROGER CLEMENS?!!! In the grand scheme of things steroids and human growth hormone in baseball is so far down the list I can honestly say I don’t give a shit. Amazing, simply amazing.

Yeah these people really don’t get it. Out of touch entirely.

Chalk up another victory for our glorious leader. The sweet smell of freedom… oh wait… that’s opium. Never mind.

  19. natisman says:

It’s time to jettison Afganiston. Bush didn’t go keep it going when he went in and screwed up all sorts, and the tribes are just sitting there sapping our strength. Ask Russia why the idea of an Afgan war is absolutly bizarro.

We should stick with Grenada and Panama, especially with RePUGs making the noise but not fighting it.

  20. Gregor Samsa says:

Karzai controls only 30 percent of Afghanistan

    Interesting.

It roughly matches his puppetmaster’s approval rate.

    Heh.

(That would be Pres Bush’s rate, in case you were wondering)

  21. tarazan says:

    #15 Mr. Evil,

I share with you the same feelings.

It is a sham to see elected officials assembling in the Congress and spending precious time and energy on what Baseball player Clemens did or what he said, while the country is at war and more important and bigger issues are ignored.

    What’s the big deal here?!!..
Govenor Shwarznegger of California said once he used Steroids ..where is the noise…?

#22 – “Govenor Shwarznegger of California said once he used Steroids ..where is the noise…?” Comment by tarazan — February 28, 2008 @ 7:34 am

Repulicans don’t have to adhere to the standards they hold for everyone else.

Gov/ Sharznegger also claimed to have smoked pot. Then he said he lied about it to get the ratings he wanted. Nobody asked him “We’re you lying then, or are you lying now? If you were lying then, what’s to say you’re not lying now as well about other things?”
