I for one am soooooooo ready for the Rapture. Please Jesus, come down and take these pious goddamn Christians home with you.

I would be soooo afraid to tempt the Lord God my Savior with such a sentence. You apparently have no idea of the chaos that will come after the rapture, or what Hell has in store for every sinner who turned their back on God. It is not a very nice place to end up and whats worse is that once your there, you can never come back and change your mind. I don't like the summer heat, much less hell's flames which are 7 times hotter than the hottest flame on earth. I prefer non-smoking. I will be praying for God to deal with you and anyone who does not believe in Jesus Christ or God. They love us all and do not want a single soul to be lost. But He gave us all a free will and He will not force us to serve Him. He died for every one of us, what will we choose to do for Him?

Hell is real. Be careful about making implications of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Comment by Daryll — February 28, 2008 @ 5:11 pm

I’d gladly like to point out that no one who lives has any evidence of a God and what happens when you die.
“I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires.” - Susan B. Anthony
Why would a saviour need to threaten with the punishment of hell?

I’d gladly like to point out that no one who lives has any evidence of a God and what happens when you die.

This would also mean that there’s no one who can refute any of the beliefs held about God and the afterlife.

Christianity is based on the testimony of believers. Many of these testimonies are recorded in the New Testament. In addition, the NT book of Hebrews commends several Old Testament personalities for their great faith by describing what they did because they believed in God’s promises.

One chapter in Hebrews, eleven, defines faith:” Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” A better translation might be the following: ” Now faith is being sure of what we expect and certain of what we do not see.” “Hope” is not a very strong word in modern usage.

This chapter further comments on faith;” And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

God is the Creator. He is the owner. He is sovereign. He does what He pleases.
(This is not necessarily an easy concept for Christians.)

As bitblt says, He could have made you a Cocker Spaniel – always willing to please, or He could have given you free will.

As the NT comments elsewhere, if one is witnessing an event why would one need faith to believe that the event occurred?

This use of faith can be applied to a recent news story, the July 1969 moon landing, or the resurrection of Jesus Christ. These are events that relatively few witnessed, but are widely reported and believed by many people.

Since one’s beliefs seem to have a tremendous influence on one’s behavior, why is it a problem to believe in a Savior when that belief has such positive influence in the lives of believers and non-believers. (Re: Romney’s “Culture has always been our strength.” )

Why would a saviour need to threaten with the punishment of hell?

This seems, to bitblt, to be a better question;”Why would God offer a way to escape punishment through belief in His Son Jesus Christ?”

From bitblt’s view people have always wanted a God that is capable of rendering justice. Isn’t the belief that God can render justice reflected in the justice system of most countries? (Oath’s of office for many early states in the U.S. reflected the idea that the office holder was responsible to God.)

Would people want to worship a God who wasn’t capable of rendering justice?

(Please just skip the need to answer, “Bacchus,” to this question.)

Did anyone notice that the IRS just went after a church because Sen. Obama spoke to them. The IRS is trying to take away that church's tax exempt status. Yet in this case a preacher is endorsing Sen. McCain and the IRS is happy with that. Bush has politicize the IRS along with all of the other agencies of government. Watch out what you say on line because the "Evil Empire" is watching and spying on us all.

Mister not Reverend Hagee is the devil himself posing as a man of God. This guy is about as far from God as anyone could get. The fools who follow him are going to end up sitting right next to Sadam Hussien in hell wondering how they got there. These so called christians make me sick. They are a bunch of bigots who support one party and aren't fair from being Nazi's. Why? Because before Hilter came to power in the last 1930s, people thought he was a great man and many ministers praised him too. Even the courts in Germany went right along with what was going on, buying into his evil message. If the American people don't wake up, we are turning into a totalitorian country based on fake religious convictions. I don't have anything against real christian, I believe in God and his son Jesus Christ more than any of these fake fools. I'm also not stupid enough to let a fake sell me a bill of goods. That's why I worship God on my own and don't go to church. Only God knows what I say to him and what's really in my heart.

This is what makes Huckabee scary as a Vice President, a heart beat awayfrom McCain. His campaign won't release his sermons. I guess it may be because he is a Dispensationalist like Hagee. He would approve the plan to sell Saudi A. another $20 billion arms and give Isreal another $30 bill. in aid. And an aide of the V.
It`s nice see the good of Jesus come out in everyone of these people like Hagee, they make me sick all this talk of rapture and such . I believe the First amendment speaks of free speech and and religion, but this kind of political pandering to the religious right is downright scary. Both of these guys need to be put away, obviously they haven`t been listening to what the PUBLIC(citizens ) of this country want, that is to stop the occupation and bring our SOLDIERS home.

How very Christian of Pastor John Hagee to wish upon mankind, it's destruction so that he can summon his god... YES?

154 comments and no one mentioned Hagee’s war against the Harry Potter books?! Here’s a choice one:

“As millions of people anticipate the release of the latest Harry Potter book and film, we’re reminded once again of Satan’s ongoing attempt to deceive and destroy. The whole purpose of the Potter books is to desensitize readers and introduce them to the occult.”

i don’t know about Bill Donohue but the kids of America will never forgive McCain. -- Joe Cantwell

************************************************

Of course, what people like Hagee can't bear to acknowledge is the fact that books or music or movies by themselves don't have the power to persuade people to do anything which they don't on some level already want to do. If something as simple as reading a book or watching a movie can provoke someone into committing what their faith considers to be a sinful act, the fact is that the impulse to stray from his/her faith and commit that act was almost certainly there long before the person read that book or watched that movie -- reading the book or watching the movie becomes an equivalent of "the devil made me do it", an excuse which the person uses in an effort to disavow responsibility for his/her own impulses and behavior. Someone whose personal sense of ethics is strong enough cannot be tempted into violating their principles simply on the basis of reading a book or watching a movie.

If people like Hagee object so much to anything which involves magic, then they probably shouldn't let their children read Grimm's Fairy Tales or watch Disney movies like Aladdin either since so many of those stories involve characters who practice magic -- yet I'm sure many of them consider stories like Aladdin, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Sword In The Stone, etc. to be perfectly wholesome entertainment.

That means McCain is against Harry Potter.
Maybe he is against gay wizards too.
OMGZ, this cannot stand!
Prejudice against fictional characters!!
It's not their fault they are fictional.
Why the evil.... idiot. lmao

Yeah, I knew Hagee was one of freekazoids raving about a Fictional Character in a Fiction Book.
How f-king intelligent is that?

It's really telling when a fictional book about magic and wizards seems more plausible than the fictional stories told by Hagee to the flock of sheeple that he leads around by the nose.

This idiot keeps making predictions and he is batting a big fat Zero.

In biblical times, he would have been stoned as a false prophet. =P

Someone should ask John McCain if, unlike Hagee, he supports a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, and whether he believes that a military strike against Iran would “fulfill God’s plan for…a biblically prophesied end-time confrontation” as Hagee does.

****************************************************

Good grief...the level of arrogance and self-rationalization among some people on the Religious Right knows no bounds. The Bible very clearly states that nobody knows when Armageddon will take place -- but Hagee apparently believes that launching a military strike against Iran will somehow force or manipulate God into making the Rapture happen when Hagee thinks it should.

Hey...at least McCain isn't claiming to have spoken directly with Jesus yet...gotta be an improvement over Bush!

Seriously...I have to agree with others who've commented...we are entirely too close to living in a theocracy now....if someone like McCain is elected, there will be no stopping the christian right (who are actually neither) from seizing control over the nation. And then....well...God help us!

That's a pretty tall order...the U.S. must join Israel in a pre-emptive attack on Iran which would lead to the Rapture and Second Coming of Christ. Can you imagine the Prime Minister of Israel saying, "THIS I GOTTA SEE!"
