Fox News attacks Obama for ditching Fox News.

On Fox News Sunday today, host Chris Wallace read an e-mail from a viewer attacking Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) for having yet to do an interview on Fox News Sunday. Referencing Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the viewer claims Obama’s ditching of FNS means he can’t “confront America’s adversaries”:

Obama will sit down with anyone, including Iran’s Ahmadinejad, who calls for the death of the Great Satan America, but FNS, that’s where he draws the line. Can we seriously believe he can confront America’s adversaries when he won’t even sit down with you?

Watch it:

The viewer’s comments, which Wallace made a conscious decision to read on air, echo Fox News chief Roger Ailes’s hysterical claim that “the candidates that can’t face Fox, can’t face Al Qaeda.”

Digg It!

FNS: Furthering Wingnut Memes One Viewer Letter At A Time

Ah…the beauty of showing viewers letters without comment…you can go ahead and further your memes from behind a firewall of “but the viewer said it, not us!” Still sore that the Democratic presidential contender has the good sense to stay away from the stacked deck of White House propagandists that make up the FOX News channel, Fox News Sunday’s producers call Barack Obama chicken and do the tired “if he can’t face FOX, how can he face Ahmadinejad?”

Hmmm….I don’t know what’s sadder, that FOX News thinks they’re on par with meeting with a world leader (after all, Obama has already said that he’s willing to sit down to talk to world leaders) or that Obama thinks he’ll get a fairer shake dealing with someone like Ahmadinejad than with a hack like Chris Wallace.

All I know is that either way you look at it, FOX News doesn’t come out looking good at all.

  12. VA Voter Says:

The viewer and Mr. Wallace are right. You folks may hate Fox but it would be a fair interview. And if he can’t deal with an interview for the highest rated news channel then how will he deal with other world leaders that don’t like the US so much.

  26. BrianFL Says:

    VA Voter,

Yeah, I'm just SURE it would be a "fair interview". I mean, this is a network that questions Obama's patriotism on a daily basis because he doesn't wear American flag pins on his lapel. They try to put Louis Farrakhan's words in Obama's mouth on a daily basis. They throw around accusations that he's a "secret Muslim" who attended a "radical madrassa". They compare him to China's Mao Tse-Tung. Their top rated host Bill O'Reilly talks about "going on a lynching party" for Obama's wife. Yeah, real "fair and balanced".

You people act as if he just decided not to appear on Fox News for no reason. He has a mountain of reasons to never appear on that propaganda outfit.

Not appearing on Fox has nothing to do with speaking with world leaders. A world leader has a responsibility to talk to other world leaders. They do not have a responsiblity to appear on a fake news channel.

    Anjuna Laguna,

American politicians don't control America. These people do.....

October 3, 2001 -- An acrimonious argument erupted during the Israeli cabinet weekly session last week between Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and his foreign Minister Shimon Peres during which Sharon reportedly yelled at Peres, saying "don't worry about American pressure, we control America."

According the Israeli Hebrew radio Kol Yisrael Wednesday, Peres warned Sharon that refusing to heed incessant American requests for a cease-fire with the Palestinians would endanger Israeli interests and turn the US against us.

At this point, a furious Sharon reportedly turned toward Peres, saying "every time we do something you tell me America will do this and will do that . . . I want to tell you something very clear: Don't worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it."

    Comment by VA Voter

This is without a doubt the lamest troll we have on board. It actually thinks that Faux Noise is "fair". Faux Noise has a 100% record of stacking the deck against Democratic participants, talking over them and asking nothing but "gotcha" questions.

This troll is also totally out of touch. Faux Noise is not the "highest rated news channel". It may be the "news" channel on cable that TV's are tuned to, but that isn't saying much. Many of the TV's that are turned to Faux are in bars and other places where they are pretty much ignored, so that inflates Faux's numbers considerably.

Obama is more than capable of dealing with world leaders. He is not going to waste his time on a right-wing propaganda channel like Faux. The people who watch Faux are never going to vote for him or support him, so there is really no reason why he should go there.

  45. Godfry Daniel Says:

Why would Obama appear on a terrorist network?

  46. pluege Says:

there is something completely polluted and irrational about cult of republicanism thinking.

That Obama would sit down with a potential real threat to American to discuss ways to reduce any real or perceived threat is a feather in his cap, is normal and expected and in complete contrast to the immature dolt regime we've had for 8 years that has greatly reduced America's security.

Further, that he trivializes and discounts the republican propaganda outlet Fox by not subjecting himself to their gossipy no-account ravages parading as serious journalism is yet another feather in his cap.

So where is the beef? Looks like a win-win for Obama.

Let's see Ollie North was convicted of a felony, but the courts overturned it because they said he was given immunity for his testimony in front of Congress. I think he sold missles to Iran, didn't he?
Karl Rove had to testify 5 times to the jury in the Plame case before he could get his story right. His entry into the political spotlight began with stealing letterheads from the Democrats.
Whenever there is something shady or dirty going on he always seems to be near.
We all know about Newt Gingrich cheating on his first wife and serving her with divorce papers while she was in the hospital with cancer.
I think he resigned from Congress because of some problems with ethics, wasn't it?
Anne Coulter appears to be a drugged up freak of questionable gender who commited voter fraud in Florida by using a false address.
I don't know much about Dick Morris except that he was a "political operative" which means spinmeister.

What an accomplished and illustrious bunch!

I was thinking that there was likely no such person as Ken Drury from Big Flats NY but it appears I am wrong. If the info is correct on line, Ken lives with Robin. Robin identifies himself as male, married to Ken and involved in architecture, engineering or science (see below). If it is science that Robin is doing, hopefully he is staying away from that evolution stuff that Fox hates. I am actually amazed that there might be someone, purportedly adult (aged 41 according to the web) who would write such juvenile stupidity. Ken Drury may well have been the kind of guy who specialized at school in really clever schoolyard taunts like the one he sent to Fox. I wonder if Ken has any original lines. Likely not. Being a follower does not actually require thinking. Ken, good boy, you are doing really well. Got any kids we can get to go over and help in the mission?

    Fox fair? Let's see...

    - Barack HUSSAIN Osama grew up in a madrassa.
    - Barack HUSSAIN Osama is a muslim.
    - Barack HUSSAIN Osama is (gasp) BLACK. (Ok, even a stopped clock is right twice a day)

Fox now is worse than what Fox was in 2004...and it was pretty bad then.

Could Obama handle Fox? Like Neo handling Agent Smith at the end of The Matrix - with one hand tied behind his back. Should he? NO WAY.

You do not justify a propaganda network. You do not give them credibility they should not have. You do not acknowledge them at all.

I only wish it was that easy with all the MSM. While Fox is overt and blatant in its hypocrisy, the others are even more insidious.

There's plenty of evidence they've done this in the past, it's their M.O..

During the Cold War, The Soviet Union would repeatedly organize conferences on World Peace or similar topics, and invite all manner of people to attend.
A lot of people, especially those passionately devoted to world peace etc. would show up. What can it hurt, right?
They learned. Their speeches would be ignored, and the conference would inevitably issue a resolution that praised the Soviet Union and blamed the world's ills on the West. And as delegates to the conference their names would be affixed to it.
People learned that showing up at one of these was worse than useless. They did not go.

A progressive or a democrat going on Fox News is no different from going to a Soviet conference or being interviewed by the Novosti Press Agency: these neo-soviet politically policed apparatchiks do neither the truth nor the country any good.

Barack Obama has learned how to deal with America's enemies. It bodes well for the future.

    Comment by Ms_Joanne — March 2, 2008 @ 5:32 pm

I agree, Ms_Joanne. Fox News Channel operates on the falsehood that most people believe both sides in a disagreement have equal validity, and that the truth (or correct course of action) lies somewhere in the middle. This is wrong. it is an established fact that for decades, conservatives have been using lies, distortions, misinformation and ignorance in an effort to persuade people that they are right and we are wrong. FNC was their great chance to put "both sides" of a dispute up there and let viewers "decide" who was right. This would only serve a useful purpose if the conservatives they put on the air (which is most of their guests and hosts) were debating honestly. They don't. When one side is clearly wrong (or lying or misrepresenting the facts) and the other is using facts (no matter how bad it makes their opponents look), then the ultimate truth does not lie "somewhere in the middle". It tends to lie with the one telling the truth. FNC completely ignores this simple principle.

Anyone ever think about Fox's little slogan, "We report, you decide?" What is there to decide? The viewers shouldn't have to "decide" if a story is bullshit or not. Hmmmm... I wonder if that report was a lie or the truth. If you are truly a journalistic enterprise there is nothing to "decide." The truth is the truth. You can even start with "Fair and Balanced." Obviously a lie. It that had any validity to it Fox would have 50% conservative and 50% liberal views. Hardly the case at Fox.

Wallace a coward (a prerequisite for Fox) as he hides behind an email from a "viewer."
This is just another version of “some people say” that is used by Faux news commentators. Hannity, Hume, OReilly, Wallace — they’re all the same — faux journalists on a faux network. The thinking public recognizes their masquerade; the easily swayed, gullible and nonthinkers comprise the faithful Fox viewers.

He will handle the job of President just fine and the Fixers and propagandists of Faux News will...just fade away.

  120. fletc3her Says:

Unfortunately, whatever blinders that Blitzer has on that does not allow him to get facts about this FISA propaganda is also apparently affecting the House intelligence committee as well, as Reyes tells Blitzer that they are negotiating a compromise that could include telecom immunity.

“We are talking to the representatives from the communications companies because if we’re going to give them blanket immunity, we want to know and we want to understand what it is that we’re giving immunity for,” he said. “I have an open mind about that.”

Regarding a compromise deal, Reyes said: “We think we’re very close, probably within the next week we’ll be able to hopefully bring it to a vote.”

Please, no. Jumping Jiminy on a popsicle stick, is there no blatantly illegal acts that this White House wants to commit that the Congress will fight? Maybe they’re wishing for the telecom largese to come back.

Studs Terkel, author and oral historian; Quentin Young, physician and advocate for health-care reform; State Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie; and James Montgomery, former Chicago corporation counsel, are plaintiffs in Terkel, et. al vs. AT&T. They’ve written an op-ed on Why We Sued The Phone Company. Clearly, we will have to deluge Congress with demands that they not cave into the Bush administration. Again. Your first stop is this PfAW petition as well as sending emails/snail mails and faxes to your representatives.

If our enemy is al Qaeda, then why did we invade and occupy Iraq? Oh yeah, I remember now: it has the world's second (or first) largest OIL reserves. Now that oil has gone from $20 a barrel under B. Clinton to $103 today, the reserves of the west's top five oil corps is worth $2.2 Trillion!

Notice how everyone fighting us today is "al Qaeda" even when they are not? Sixty-one percent of Iraqis agree with attacks on our troops. Are 61% of Iraqis al Qaeda? There wasn't any al Qaeda in Iraq before our illegal invasion and occupation based on 935 lies.

Hey McCain, go on Democracy Now. If you are afraid of Amy Goodman, how you gonna stand up to al Qaeda?
