I too am concerned, but I feel the competitive passion that Democrats feel for “their” candidates is in no way similar to the entrenched religious, moral and philosophical divisions within the Republican party. Clinton and Obama supporters simply want “their” candidate to be president “more” than they want the other Democrat to be president. They don’t find the opposing candidate markedly different or unacceptable. It’s a matter of perference rather than a matter of incompatible beliefs, values or philosophies. While there will be some supporters with hard feelings once Clinton or Obama wins, the losing Democrat will immediately and convincingly through his/her full support to the party’s nominee.

Romney’s and Huckabees supporters both loathe McCain who they see as far too liberal. McCain isn’t his party’s majority choice; he is their minority choice. He garnered the most votes, but he did not win a majority of his party’s votes. While many thought that McCain was the Republican’s best candidate to run against the Democrats, he is not the best candidate to unite, rally and motivate Republicans to vote in the numbers it will take to out vote Democrats.

besides, waterboarding was declared a war crime and the US hung some Japanese soldiers for doing that to US POWs.

Not “whim”. “Will”. Bushco has pursued policies which are against the nature of our nation. We used to call nations which had secret prisons, and kangaroo courts, enemies. I won’t even try to argue our treatment of prisoners. The Republican dream is the antithesis of all we have ever aspired to.

Juggle any poll you like. The WILL of the people won’t be denied. And the WILL of the people is that the neocons be removed, repudiated and expunged from our government. Who knows? Maybe things will get worse. But the Republicans won’t be given the chance to continue down the course they chose.
