Setting an all-time record, oil prices jumped to $103.95 a barrel today, “exceeding the inflation-adjusted high reached in the early 1980s during the second oil shock.” The dollar also “fell to its lowest level in three years against the yen on Monday. It also dropped to a record $1.5274 in early New York trading against the euro following steep declines last week.”
Gosh, I wish George had just one more SOTU speech in him so he could chastise us again for being oil junkies.

Its now pumping 55% water back up the well , when an oil well is new it pumps up 100% oil
Enough to last the whole worlds needs for 872 days
At the moment it only supplies 10% of daily needs because of other oil field production
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:27 pmCome on, Badmoodman… Botch hasn’t been keeping track of gasoline prices because he’s been busy keeping an eye on gasoline prices.
What more can one moron do?
How much more could a moron do if a moron could do more?
Now, say that 3 times, fast, while jumping up and down on one leg, and you’ll finally understand what it’s like to be George W. Botch.
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:27 pmGHAWAR
Others have noted how the percentage of water brought up with the oil has been growing on Ghawar. There are published reports that Ghawar has from 30-55% water cut. This means that about half the fluids brought up the well are water. Today the decline rate is 8%. Thousands of barrels per day of production must be added each year.
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:29 pmOil prices near $104 a barrel — “Mission Accomplished” (according to GDumbya).

Vote for Hillary Clinton and America. Thank you.
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:32 pmSweet! We’re number one. Higher gas prices than the seventies. Higher oil prices than the eighties. The second Bush recession is shaping up to be a doozy.
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:32 pmWould somebody get Mary Matelin here so she could explain it to us all.
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:33 pmSaudi Aramco is injecting a staggering 7 million barrels of sea water per day back into Ghawar, the world’s largest oilfield, in order to prop up pressure. It accounts for 30% of Saudi oil reserves and up to 70% of daily output.
Shares in Donkey farms gone up 200%

She’d just claim that if the MSM would simply stop focusing on oil prices , the cost would immediately spiral downward………

March 3rd, 2008 at 1:37 pmfrom the linked article, Comment by Charles James Napier :”He added that Vice President Dick Cheney also “needs an ass kicking,”
I liked that part.

one of the drawbacks of being a pigheaded mute
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:38 pmIsn’t it about time for one of our trolls to show up and claim that oil is NOT over $100 a barrel, that it’s just media alarmists who make those claims?

March 3rd, 2008 at 1:41 pmI’m sure Bush’s bosses in Saudi Arabia are very pleased. Now they’ll have lots more money to fund terrorism, and of course “their boy” in the US won’t get in their way.
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:41 pmPeak oil has come and gone. I certainly hope that Obama makes this is first order of business when he takes office. We may already be too late to wean ourselves from fossil fuels and save our economy and our country. If only we had listened to Jimmy Carter way back when. We would be sitting pretty today.

As I’ve stated from Day 1 of his garbage presidency ; Ronnie Retard is the “hero” of the “right” , who also brought about the dumbing down of Americans and was the beginning of the nightmare of a quarter century of “compassionate” Cancervatism and an economic ‘plan’ that is little more than a backwards-ass Robin Hood theory…………
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:48 pmAfter the Clintons are elected this year, we should see oil return to 1990 levels again. The Clintons have a proven track record of peace, prosperity, and low oil prices for America.
Vote for Peace, Prosperity, and Hillary Clinton.
Thank you.

The scary thing is, if you read the article, what the guy said was:
Now how is that threatening to kill the President? I agree with this guy, Bush deserves a good a$$ kicking.
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:49 pmHere is hoping McCain wins the presidency. I don’t think the right wing should have ammo to use against Obama or Clinton about not cleaning up the dung heap left by the Bush Administration.
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:52 pmThis also means that Bush has finally accomplished the record established during the Carter Administration.
Bush has seen the highest oil prices EVER!
We’re Number One!

March 3rd, 2008 at 1:52 pmHeh.
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:55 pmAnd here is the paradox of pro-free market types.
Their ideology, in the end, bites their end.
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:57 pmAlternative energy is the answer.
The problem? Utilities won’t fully implement this technology until they have a monopoly on the market & infrastructure.
They’re so used to ‘owning’ all of the resources, they can’t imagine a system that may allow reduced cost(s) to their profit margin.
They’re now charging more because they have wind power.
We need solar & wind arrays that are one household specific. Then, we need to be able to feed excess generated power back into the utility’s grids.
That’s the only way this dilemma can be solved. Of course, the idea of ‘ownership’ to households is completely repugnant to those wonderful American oligarchies.
Didn’t Bush say America would become an ownership society? I guess he didn’t talk to the big utilities on that one, eh?
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:59 pmKrazny, are you serious? A McCain presidency will create ANOTHER four years of shit to be cleaned up by whomsoever follows.
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:59 pmPlease, Geez!
Heh.

Because anyone here needed any more proof that GOP/Chimpy leg humpers have no sense of humor , you decided to put that theory to the test , nitwit ?
Your post was unfunny , untrue , and completely off-topic ; you believe that’s somewhat “amusing” ?
Christ , you Gop nut huggers are truly lacking in every arena………
March 3rd, 2008 at 2:03 pmThe taxpayers are still providing those juicy subsidies to the oil companies to “help” find oil. New administration coming in so get the money while they can. Talk to people in the oil industry, strange how they say, there is no shortage.
March 3rd, 2008 at 2:15 pmAnd how about the new field just opened up in Wyoming ? People , we have plenty of oil here, it is just a controled market.
If only we had listened to Jimmy Carter way back when. We would be sitting pretty today.
Comment by bilbobaggins — March 3, 2008 @ 1:43 pm
If you listen to Jimmy Carter today, then you’ll vote for Hillary Clinton. Jimmy Carter endorses Al Gore who carried out the Clinton policies of the 1990s.
Vote for Hillary Clinton and America. Thank you.
March 3rd, 2008 at 2:16 pmBush will know the price is up when it reaches $300.00 a barrel.
March 3rd, 2008 at 2:24 pmMcCain poo poo’d all of the worrisome stuff about the economy. He says it’s all psychological. The next time I’m at the pump I’m gonna tell the attendant I will only pay oh…a buck and a half for my gallons because McQuaint says it’s all in our head.
March 3rd, 2008 at 2:30 pmHowever, on the bright side, more American’s are trading in their SUV’s for smaller cars with better mileage, and the national gasoline usage dropped 1.1% from the same time last year.
Americans Start to Curb Their Thirst for Gasoline
But the truth is before all of us:
Oil jumps to new record on dollar’s fall

Thanks, You made me laugh…
ya ya ya It is all about psychology.
March 3rd, 2008 at 2:39 pmTrust the words of McPsycho…..!!
Bush would have benefitted from a good ass kicking somewhere along the line, but he is surrounded by sycophants and probably always has been. Look at the trolls here, they jump to his defense like the pimple faced punks in high school when the rich kid is threatened. They want to show the man that they are on his side so he will like them.
Bush has never had to stand up for himself and never will. Better come arrest me too, I think he would look a lot better with a busted nose.

“what right does George Bush have to express the wishes of every American whether they agree or disagree”
When he’s Mister 19% ? None at all.
There’s a right to defend, in kind. Israel’s Likud doesn’t do that. Israel has the same problem we in the US have, an entrenched reactionary administration bolstered by an organized politically invested minority religious base.
March 3rd, 2008 at 3:33 pmI have been waiting for this day. Oil is at an inflation adjusted high. Gas has already passed that stop.
And all we gots from the trolls are a half-assed attempt to shift the topic to Arn Gunnutes…

You guys really are in a load of crud here. Arn Gunnutes is a crazy, yes, but you guys have managed to beat your boogie-man Carter, and ALL of us are suffering for your mischief.
Carter was right. I watch as my houses thermostat is at 60deg. Car? What car. Got rid of that annoying money-sucker almost 2 years ago. Time to get with the program, trolls. With gas prices rising, and your boys having the gas prices and oil prices _firmly_ on their shoulder, well…I’ll see you in November.
March 3rd, 2008 at 4:03 pmOIL PRICES NEAR 68 EUROS!!
OIL PRICES NEAR 52 GBP!!
Oh, wait, that’s not that bad. I guess it’s just the dollar.
I guess it’s just the fact that this country went completely, totally, and LITERALLY broke/bankrupt in 2005 and we are still headed down the debt spiral.
Hyperinflation here we come!!

The second largest exporter of total petroleum was Saudi Arabia with 1.686 million barrels per day. ” Is ANYONE paying attention?????????
