Rep. Rick Renzi (R-AZ), who was indicted last month for extortion, wire fraud, money laundering and other crimes, pleaded not guilty today in U.S. District Court in Tucson. Renzi is also facing an investigation by the House ethics committee, but he maintains that he is “innocent” and “will not resign.”
Has McCain made any comment since the plea?
March 4th, 2008 at 4:55 pmLet him have his day in court. I hope evidence from all sides can be
fairly presented and the court can decide.
That’s how it should be. Mr. Bush. We have laws.
March 4th, 2008 at 4:56 pmHas he been waterboarded? If not, he should. We could get a confession before trial and save a bunch of time, money, and trouble. Due process is quaint.
March 4th, 2008 at 4:59 pmjust like DeLay and Abramoff, Foley and Vitter – all innocent, all victims.
what a bunch of wuss crybabies.

No doubt. It’s not like they’ve been renditioned and held without charges in a foreign secret prison.
March 4th, 2008 at 5:03 pmRenzi: I will not resign! I will, however, hold my breath until acquitted.
March 4th, 2008 at 5:11 pmCome on Bush. Hasn’t he been a loyal warrior? Just pardon him.
I’m waiting for the President to issue a blamket pardon to all Republicans.
It’s coming
March 4th, 2008 at 5:16 pmIt is an interesting display of double standards. Were it anyone but a gooper tic, an indictment for extortion would tend to make you think someone had brought charges that are very serious and not real likely “made up”
But alas, in today’s DOJ, we have attorneys fired for not fellating the king, put a governor in prison on completely false charges, allowing how many criminals a slap on the wrist for causing crimes against humanity?
I predict his trial won’t really get anywhere because no one cares. It is absurd to think now that the USA that brought the charges could possibly act without influence from a AG that has lied to congress about his actions. It is really rather funny now. Imagine, having their own handpicked guy charged with all this stuff? The media will make him a darling and he will have Sheriff Joe step up and give him a testimonial.
where has our legal system gone?
March 4th, 2008 at 5:16 pmBTW,
Where are all the trolls that were calling for Pelosi’s head because she couldn’t get Jefferson to resign? Shouldn’t they be calling for Boehner’s head right now for not getting this guy to resign?

Was Boner (haven’t met a lie I can’t cry over) there, too?
March 4th, 2008 at 5:18 pmAt least he’ll get a fair trial. Then, when convicted, he’ll be summarily removed from Congress.
March 4th, 2008 at 5:30 pmRenzi pleads ‘not guilty’ to corruption charges…code for -
“it’s okay if a Republican does it”
March 4th, 2008 at 5:42 pm[H]e is “innocent†and “will not resign.â€
Ah, yes. Very famous last words for Republicans.
Yeah, right, he’s innocent. And I’m the Pope.

Renzi’s defense attorneys were quoted : “It was the one-armed man”………..

Annie, isn’t that what Bob Ney said? And Duke Cunningham before that?
March 4th, 2008 at 6:18 pmHell, Ralphie, that’s what they ALL say. *eyeroll*
March 4th, 2008 at 6:20 pmIt’s absolutely amazing that all of these clowns that are caught with their pants down around their ankles claim “innocence”. Looks like those without morals or integrity cry the loudest.
March 4th, 2008 at 6:29 pmMaybe Larry Flynt will soon provide some “enlightenment” on the rest of the good ol’ boys. Think it’s time for some thinning of the herd.
McCains Kerik.
March 4th, 2008 at 8:07 pmBringing integrity back to Washington by refusing to leave.
McCain should BBQ this guy some hot-dogs and ask him to resign…naw, that wont happen.
