Today, a bipartisan group of 14 senators introduced a bill “to stop regulators from easing media-ownership rules in the nation’s 20 largest cities.” The 32-year old ban — whose loosening is being pushed by Bush’s FCC chairman — is meant to “keep major media companies from monopolizing newspapers and broadcasters in their market.”
NOT. SOON. ENOUGH!!
There is virtually no mass media anymore that is watching over the government, As it is, we need media to watch over the media (thank you http://www.mediamatters.org) for they have become propaganda for the government who is anything but of the people, by the people, and for the people.
March 5th, 2008 at 7:47 pmIsnt’ the entire media already owned by a handful of dudes?
March 5th, 2008 at 7:48 pmThat little twerp in charge of the FCC has already allowed too much, stonewalled too much, and ignored anyone who doesn’t agree with him, much like his predecessor, Powell.
March 5th, 2008 at 7:49 pmToo little too late? Let’s bring back the fairness doctrine while we’re at it….and put in something about free air exposure for ALL presidential candidates who qualify to be on the ballot.
March 5th, 2008 at 7:59 pmAfter confirming that the Horse had left the barn a bi-partisan group of Senators agreed today that the barn door must be shut…

They need to bust the media system up. Do a lottery for licenses – let private citizens sell the rights to broadcast for 10 years, and then do it again. There’s no reason the public needs to turn over control of any commodity, to any single entity, for any lengthy period of time.
Fu(k ‘em. Put them all out of work.
March 5th, 2008 at 8:13 pmLet us know if they ever carry through!

A case in point. on Thom Hartmann today he was relating his experience on the morning Fox show where republicans from texas, were emailing in by the 1000’s that they’d been shut out of the system by limbaugh who had urged them to vote for hillary. They had crossed over to through a wrench into the Obama campaign and didn’t realize that they couldn’t vote dem on one part of the ballot and then switch back for the state and local elections, so they couldn’t vote for their favorite local candidate. They deserve a big Nelson Munch laugh.
March 5th, 2008 at 8:15 pmYeah, Bobwurst, I heard about that…just like the repukes to cheat…they can’t do anything honestly…but glad it bit them in the butt.
March 5th, 2008 at 8:18 pmThe MSM is owned by the Military Industrial Complex! These asswipes (Senators) are playing games!!! They are trying to fog us again!!

he just related that story… poor “disenfranchised” dupes (R)…
i wonder if hillary is still so proud of her “victory”…

media… do they mean the neocon infomercials? How would the masses react if REAL news was played out as it is in other countries? The media has gone way too far into the sewer much too long ago.
March 5th, 2008 at 8:40 pmWell….gotta see about that barn door….
