Just like the cold war when everyone who didn’t agree with the U.S. was either a communist or a communist sympathizer. toki This poor crazy guy spent half a decade being tortured because a bunch of stupid politicians araç sorgulama were sure the NVA was in bed with the Russians (minimal help) and/or the Chinese (ancient enemy of the vietnamese). ssk sorgulama You would think he would have learned from others’ mistakes.
If warrantless wiretapping is the “PATRIOTIC” thing to do, then why the need for immunity from the Fourth Amendment?

So that it can then be legal?

But if it were to be the “PATRIOTIC” thing to do, the Fourth Amendment would allow warrants to clevo 2200 battery, clevo 2700 battery NOT be obtained.

So,
WHAT DOES CONGRESS SUPPORT AND DEFEND

Huh? So if a McCain adviser takes the wrong position, it's filled under something like Radical Right-Wing Agenda or Corrupt Establishment, but TP files this one under "a secure America?" And what, exactly, are we supposed to take away from the fact that Obama's adviser suggests immunity is necessary?

The president can pardon a corporation. In fact, the president can do what ever he want to do. Whether it is legal is a different question, and that can only be determined if someone takes him to court. What are the odds of that happening?

The statement that "they were aiding the government" is continuously toss around. Well, if the telecoms helped GWB spy without a warrant, they were not aiding the government, they were aiding the executive branch. This is a HUGE difference. Our "government" consists of three equal branches, and that needs to be pointed out as often as possible. George may not like that, but it is what prevents this country from descending into tyranny.

because they were told to do so by the appropriate authorities that were operating in a legal context

Yet within this “legal context” they all broke the law.

There is no other truth. HOLD THOSE WHO GAVE THE ORDER TO BREAK THE LAW ACCOUNTABLE - CONGRESS.

I guarantee you that they gave approval to this warrantless eavesdropping BEFORE 9/11.

There is only one word to say:
QUEST

Why was Quest able to say NO, to this supposed legal activity. There are only two answers:
1) They are traitors, and if this was true, the Aministration would have been screaming from the mountain tops saying so
2) It is NOT legal, and Quest was the only ones who saw the monetay longterm risk, and was not willing to accept what the administration porposed which is exactly this (retroacive immunity.) So QUest said they would pass on this, and the administration was OK with that.
So it must have been illegal to begin with, and there must have been the plans to defraud the American public about the plan, with the expectation that their asses would be covered by retrt immunity.

The only REAL question is: Can a President PARDON a corporation?

its hysterical that obama fans sound just like busheviks who dismiss anything about their idol that shows his clay feet.

anyone listening to obama or has read his stupid bio ought to know the guy is not a liberal or progressive but a mainstream moderate more akin to lieberman than the leadership of the party.

but hey the man's black and there is nothing better for faux libs to do than vote for a black guy, it shows their bono fides. if obama was an alabama white guy spouting his middle course direction he'd not win a single primary.

obama: "i am against a war which i now continue to vote funding for."

boy, that's right out of Profiles in Policital Courage

but the worst hypocrisy comes from the guy's supporters who in every single case continue to bloviate and employ some sort of mutant chewbacca defense when their idol is rightfully attacked.

I do believe strongly that they should be granted that immunity, because they were told to do so by the appropriate authorities that were operating in a legal context.

******It's a lie:the appropriate authorities were not going to the FISA court,& hence it was & still is illegal. This guy is a dufus another Corporate rat.And I am done donating to Obama until he can show some fight against the Monster Clitnons. The way Obama's campaign caved on Powers is troubling.

I realize it is late to post on this but I really think that the "progressives" who support Obama have got to start taking a hard look at his domestic policy and who his advisers are. They are very conservative and very neocon. Some of them are from the University of Chicago: the people who brought us Chile as run by Pinochet. Educate yourselves, and stop making excuses. Clinton ain't no lefty, but Obama falls somewher to the right of her on domestic issues. It is simply the truth. Why would you surround yourself with people with whom you disagree on policy while trying to get elected? Unless of course, they are simply advising you on how to get a very conservative electorate to vote for you. But I don't even think it is that. He is more conservative than any you seem to understand, his alleged stand against the war notwithstanding (and Powers straightened us all out on that one!)

TP accused of shilling for Hillary? No, I don't think so.
Want to see shilling for Hillary, go to Hinesight.com.
This headline may strike some as sensational at first glance, but think about it for a few seconds and you will see that it actually indicates that Obama surrounds himself with cross-thinking people and shuns a cadre of yes-men.

Just because this guy is an advisor doesn't mean Obama follows his word.
In fact, he may be the sounding board Obama uses to hear the "other side" of his own argument against immunity.
When he starts saying that he "speaks for Obama" then it will be time for him to go - for now, it doesn't seem outrageous as the headline would make it seem.

Bilbo,
You need to get some facts straight. Go to factcheck.org and you will read that the “darkened” ad is all bunk.

Oh really, it doesn't look like bunk to me:

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/3/5/131156/5021/187/469677

I will believe what I see before what they wrote. Besides, did you hear the Clintons denying the accusation? I didn't.

Then listen to the complete 60 minutes interview and you will see and hear that Hillary thought the question was ridiculous.

Again, this time I will believe my ears. When asked if Obama was a Muslim, her answer was not "Of course not" it was "As far as I know".

As far as the bologna you hear on KO, DKos, Huffpo and TPM and Americablog, they make up crap that they get from Drudge or their arse, and then when it is proven to be untrue, they ignore the truth. TP has been one of the very few sites that has been quite fair and neutral in this primary. Kudos to them!

Sorry, but everything I have said about Clinton has been proven to be true. I don't just read it in blogs, I have seen it with my eyes and heard it with my ears.

Maybe you, tiffany, should get your head out of your ass and you might be able to see straight.

Next you will be telling us that Hillary hasn't been running around praising McCain to high heaven while dissing Obama.

I hate Hillary complimenting McCain just as much as I hated Obama complimenting Reagan and the “party of ideas”. They both have to stop it!
Comment by tiffany

Except that Obama never said that. He said he admired Reagan because his communication skills allowed people to come together to accomplish things. As usual, the righties and the MSM totally misconstrued what he said.

It is odd though that many here are so upset about this issue when very close to half of the democrats are supporting Hillary despite the points you make…….I’m just saying that I don’t believe everyone is as outraged as many here are about Hillary’s behavior and of course they are not as well informed as you are but they still get to vote.

I disagree. She only started her scorched earth tactics recently. I believe if some of the earlier primaries were to happen again, she would lose by large margins. Many people I know would have been happy to vote for Hillary before this, but now they are saying that if she is the candidate they won't be voting because the could not stomach voting for a Democrat who was acting like Karl Rove.
