Rep. Steve King (R-IA) told a local Iowa radio station recently that al Qaeda would be “dancing in the middle of the streets” if Barack Obama were elected President “because of his middle name.”
In an interview with Fox News on Saturday night, King defiantly stood by his comments, arguing that we “should be looking at” Obama’s middle name — Hussein — because Middle East terrorists will infer something in that name:
My point is that first he declares defeat, they declare victory, they dance in the streets, and there is an implication that the identity that they would infer in that name is different in the rest of the world than it is in the United States. … What I’m pointing out is that our enemies will view this differently, and I think that’s something we should be looking at.
McCain spokesman Brooke Buchanan told Fox News that McCain “doesn’t agree with King’s comments,” adding, “He intends to run a respectful race and keep it about the issues.”
Fox host Geraldo Rivera informed King that “Senator McCain has apparently disavowed your remarks.” King responded, “Well, I reject his disavowal,” adding, “And I reject the Democrat webpages that call me the names that they have.” Watch it:
In the interview, King addressed his critics, challenging them to “point to the quote that I have said that offends them.” Here’s a list of quotes, Rep. King. Take your pick.

King, you are an absolute fu(king idiot. Your last name brings cheers for the English…I think you need to go back to the homeland.

March 9th, 2008 at 12:43 amNotice the thread just before this one? The one talking about a Dem winning Denny Hastert’s old Illinois seat in a special election in what was previously considered a safe Repub district?
Well Steve King — it’s because of asswipes like you that Hastert’s seat is now in Dems hands. And the Repub losses will continue to pile up right up through the next election. A majority of Americans are sick of the hate-mongering, war-mongering, fear-mongering right wing jackasses like Steve King who basically have turned the Republican party into the modern-day poster child for neo-fascism.
Keep running your idiotic mouth Steve. Everytime you open it a few more moderate Repubs and Independents abandon you, your party and and your intellectually and morally bankrupt conservative ideology.

Two years ago, I managed to convince a lifelong Republican co-worker on her mid-fifites not to vote for Republicans that time, and she didn’t for the first time in her life. I don’t think I need to try very hard to convince her that McCain shouldn’t be her first choice either. She’s already aware that he wants to continue the war ans she doesn’t. Now I’ve got to find another conservative to turn for this election.

I’ve been to the Muslim world and the fact that Obamas dad was Muslim will make them feel they are one step closer to their goal of converting America to Islam.
If any of you think this is a joke, I encourage you to visit an Arab country sometime to gauge what is coming at America. We are not in more trouble because of Iraq, we are in less because Al Qaeda is playing defense and doesn’t have much time for offense.
I think most of us Americans are just ignorant about fundamental Islamic ideology. Conversion is the name of the game people. And Obama gets them one step closer because to them Obama is a Muslim who has “lost” his fathers way. But they believe he will find it again.

March 9th, 2008 at 9:28 amEnemies, enemies enemies and they’re out there aren’t they. Let’s just ask the question for argument’s sake, how many enemies did our draft-dodging, lying, kidnapping and torturing president create? No really, how many wars are we going to have fight soon and in the future because of Bush’s testosterone and his big mouth. The way I look at it, guys like King, they are a pox on the forces for peace and diplomacy. Ill bet he, like our “president” never risked his life and limb on a battlefield, yet he’s so combative behind the desk. He talks of enemies like they are folks he’s going to fight…no, they are folks our 17 and 18 year olds are going to have to fight. Here’s a tip dummy, this is why diplomacy is so important. Like Bush and Cheney, both draft-dodgers, it’s always the loud mouths who talk the talk but have no idea what it means to walk the walk. And they don’t care if our troops are sent to a boondoggle or not. Hell, their kids don’t have to fight and die or come home without limbs or serious mental health problems. He uses the name Hussein like it’s the first time he’ seen an American with that middle name. Blind to the fact that there is a large Muslim-American, yes Muslim-American population in America, he uses the name Hussein in a very demeaning and insulting way. Who would pay attention to this hatemonger? I suggest, since he is religiophobic, he consult Article 1 of the U.S. Constitution. And yes, he’s probably unaware since he has his head up his butt, he appears to be a pushing the line on racism. I suggest that he reads the fourteenth amendment…equal protection under the law. King is representative of the general desperation shown by the warmongers of late. Ramping up the fear is getting tougher and tougher to an America that’s becoming increasingly immune to their tactics.
We’ve been told to be afraid of terrorists making telephone calls that aren’t being listened in on. We’ve been told that terrorists would be marching down Main Street USA if we weren’t fighting them “over there”. We’ve been told to be afraid of other countries getting nuclear weapons (be afraid of Iran, who isn’t getting them, but don’t worry about North Korea, who has). We’ve been told that any time we don’t accept unquestioningly the decisions of our leaders to take away our constitutional rights, we are “emboldening the enemy.”
And now, what’s the dire consequence of electing Obama? Why, Al-Qaeda might “dance in the streets”! Um…does King know that our actions have already upped Al-Qaeda’s recruiting beyond their wildest dreams and they already have plenty to dance about?

OK, I see where you’re coming from now. You’re an anti-abortion zealot. This isn’t about King or about Al-Qaeda or about terrorists dancing in the streets. You just don’t like Obama because he doesn’t share your extremist view about “protecting the unborn”. In other words, if he didn’t have a name you could rail against, you would find something else about him.
I won’t debate you on abortion here for two reasons — 1) it would take the thread off-topic, and 2) you don’t sound like you’re all that rational. I will call you on one point, however — Scott Peterson in on death row for the murder of his wife Laci. Not the murder of his unborn son. He was convicted of second-degree murder for that. And as far as the other “host of murderers” on death row for killing unborn babies, I doubt they exist.
But if you would like to make your case against abortion, by all means do so. Just not here, since this isn’t an abortion thread.
March 9th, 2008 at 11:55 am#34 etc: If there were any responses in the mid east due to the election of Obama (for whatever reason) odds are the responses would be to lessen the animosity that GWB hath grown so mightily with his wanton and poorly executed invasion of Iraq for oil. This would be a good thing wouldn’t it?
And while we’re on the topic…how do you win a “war” against minds with bombs? No logic there either. Individuals, not a country, attacked the US on 911. And NONE of these individuals were from Iraq. Sheesh.

Actually I think it knows that Obama is a Christian, it just thinks that calling him a Muslim will somehow tarnish Obama. Fortunately most people in this country (or at least the people who might vote for him) know full well that Obama is not a Muslim.
Perhaps this idiot troll can tell us what McCain did to become a “war hero”. He graduated fifth from the bottom of his class at Annapolis. He crashed 4 planes while he was learning to fly. He became an officer on his name only. And then he crashed is plane in Vietnam and was captured. What in that makes him a “war hero”?
March 9th, 2008 at 12:46 pmIf in fact Hussein Obama is correct in his attitude that the unborn have no right to life then these murderers need pardoned by the messiah when or should we be so unfortunate as to $ee his $orry a$$ in the Oval Office.

Setting aside, for the moment, the issue of this post’s complete gibberish and incomprehensibility, I think Bert should be reminded that when Associate Justice Clarence Thomas was undergoing, what was technically known as, “Confirmation Hearings” (but which he lovingly referred to as “a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks”), he was asked by Sen Patrick Leahy if a fetus had any rights under the constitution. And Judge Thomas correctly answered, “No.”
March 9th, 2008 at 12:50 pm“…but when it comes to the general election, people will look at the options: a young, black Christian with energetic optimism and fresh ideas, or an old, white, pandering Christian who has sold out his principles for votes.â€

I just re-registered with a new e-mail address. Go to gmail or hotmail and get a new e-mail address. Then use it to sign up again. That’s how the trolls come back again and again thanks to the fact that TP won’t ban them by their IP addresses. I still have my old registration if I want to switch back.

Funny how wingnut morons like Bert love to wax poetically about saving the unborn. What’s not funny is the moment that child is out of the womb and has it’s umbilical cord cut, Bert and his fellow Xtian Soldats couldn’t give a rat’s ass about that child’s ongoing welfare and well-being. To Bert and his ilk once that child is sucking oxygen, their whole attitude changes to one of — bon voyage kiddo!; have a nice life — if you or your parents can afford it!; don’t come begging to us for help, you’re on your own now!; and no government handouts for you either — not with my tax dollars!; what’s that?–you want financial assistance with education, medical care and old age care?–to hell with you, go get a job!
To Bert and the rest of the zombie-brain Xtian Soldats, their tireless crusade to “save the unborn” is the zenith of hypocrisy and truly exposes their movement for the hateful, immoral fraud it is.

How true, they love the fetus and hate the child. The sad thing is that most women who make the gut-wrenching choice to have an abortion do so because they can’t afford to have another child. They probably can’t afford to take care of the children they already have. This is, in a large part, thanks to Bush and his Republican brethren. And things are going to get worse, much worse.
I know a couple who are undergoing this gut-wrenching decision right now. They already have two children and the husband (the primary bread winner in the family) has just lost his job due to his company downsizing. So here they are, parents of two lovely children who they are going to have a hard time supporting. His job is in an industry that is being shipped over seas at a rapid rate (he’s a programmer) and the chances of his finding another job at the pay he was making are not good. She has not worked for 10 years since they wanted her to stay home and take care of the kids. So, she will not be much help in bringing in an income any time soon. So, what is this couple to do? Bring a child into this world that will tip them over the edge financially? The righties would say “yes”, but they would also say “don’t look to the government for hand-outs, pull yourself up by your bootstraps”. They don’t care that Bush & Company have ruined our economy and there are no jobs for either of them out there. I feel for my friends because I know they have a very tough decision to make.

It’s the risk you take when you’re committed to listening to all points of view.

Who would ever believe us re: “the Righty mind”, if we didn’t have proof, in the form of their own words, recorded here?

No reason for you to resist. Part of the joy of listening to all points of view is that we get to ridicule the ones that deserve to be ridiculed.
Plus there’s the bonus that people can hear what right-wingers actually say.
