King digs his bigoted hole deeper.

King digs his bigoted hole deeper.»

Earlier this week, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) claimed that al Qaeda would “be dancing in the middle of the streets” because of Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-IL) “middle name” if he were elected President. He has since stood by his remarks and rejected Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) disavowal of them. King dug his hole deeper today, telling an Iowa radio station that Obama’s middle name “isn’t just one person who was a dictator in Iraq, it’s a thread that goes through the entire Muslim world.” King has been invited to appear on CNN this evening.

Oh the irony. I wonder if anyone has pointed out the associations the word “King” has with dictators throughout the entire European world.

OPEC president says the possible recovery of the weak dollar after the US presidential elections may help oil prices retreat next year.

This clown is just batshit insane. Turn on C-Span in the evening and he is usually ranting on and on about the most inane things. He reminds me of a snake as his tongue is always shooting in and out of his mouth–he really creeps me out.

Can you imagine his constituent’s if they vote to reelect an idiot like this? That tells you all you need to know about northwest Iowa.

  10. tarazan Says:

So what King is saying that this war is no longer about WMDS,or Bin Ladin…It is about Arab & Moslem names.
No wonder a paranoid man like King and Neocons say this war might take hundreds of years…and now we can see that there is no end in sight.
The war now progressed to be ‘War On Names’….

  11. snowcker Says:

What are the chances that a CNN anchor has the guts to call him out as a bigot and disgrace to Iowa and the United States? I hope that his remarks are not representative of the views of his constituents.

I am guessing that he will be given several softball questions to continue his ignorant, baseless, racist remarks.

  15. AngryOne Says:

Over the past week, Democrat Hillary Clinton has proclaimed her potential Republican rival John McCain to be the gold standard of wartime presidents. But lost in Clinton’s fierce barrage against Barack Obama’s national security experience is the inescapable conclusion about John McCain’s own suitability as Commander-in-Chief. McCain’s mistake-filled record, questionable judgment, calamitous misreading of history, nonchalance about American casualties and notorious short fuse all combine to make him a dangerous choice to lead an America at war. Simply put, John McCain is unfit for command.

    For the details, see:
    “John McCain: Unfit for Command.”

King is going to resort to insulting Obama’s mother next.

  22. Little Freep Goofballs Says:

King seems to be an expert on this subject. I wonder if, in his next interview, he will discuss people with names like Muhsin Muhammad, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Muhammad Ali. And maybe he will compare those people to others with names like

    Steve Wright

    or

    Steve Riddick

    or

    Steve Warshak

  23. KansasLiberal Says:

Hussein means “good” or “handsome”. Apparently Rep. King isn’t familiar with “the Google” on “the internets”. Perhaps all those tubes confuse him?

Nazareth, PA? Good Lord, man… we need to invade and occupy ourselves! How else will we ever be safe from FUNNY SOUNDING FOREIGN NAMES?

  25. missmolly Says:

Following King’s logic, we should never have allowed General Eisenhower any role in WWII because his German name might embolden the enemy and have Germans dancing in the streets.

King, like all members of the HoR, is up for re-election this year. Will western Iowa really send this clown back for another term?

  26. Xisithrus Says:

First, just if I might correct a misperception, I don’t think we ever said – at least I know I didn’t say that there was a direct connection between September the 11th and Saddam Hussein -GWB 3/20/2006

and don’t forget Climax, Michigan. ooooooh, all those orgasms.

  32. The Republic of Stupidity Says:

Don’t worry about that one, Uncle Ho. The GOOP doesn’t even know it exists. The good citizens of Climax, Michigan are quite safe.

I just found out something interesting. Iowa’s fifth district, represented by Steve King, was also once represented by Fred Grandy, who played “Gopher” on “Love Boat”.

Can we get a serious representative for this district, please?

  40. pete Says:

I took a peek at Rep. King’s website. According to the info on his site he’s a bet wetting coward. It’s all about the scary Libruls under the bed.

Don’t worry, ralph… the GOOP won’t be able to find that one either, nor Beaver Valley, or ANY town w/ the word “Cherry” in its name.

Now, if there’s a town named “Little Boy’s Tush” or “Underaged Poon” out there, the GOOP is prolly already marching…

Hmmm… one place you KNOW they DON’T wanna go is “Truth Or Consequence, NM”, huh?

  44. jpopphan Says:

Hussein is a very, very common name amongst Muslims. You know, like John is among westerners.

Slandering Sen. Obama for his middle name makes no sense. He didn’t choose the name, his parents did!

King is a panderer extraordinaire! He’ll find something else to mewl about once he’s used up all the air for Obama-bashing.

  45. Dr. Matt Says:

Iowians and Connecticuters should not be allowed to vote…..ever.

  46. williamf Says:

Can this person ever understand that Muslim does not mean terrorist. He is lumping all Muslims together and calling all of them terrorists. He needs to visit with Muslim-AMERICANS and get it that they are loyal and productive citizens!! What’s the matter with him? Can he inquire and make reasonable determinations or is he another neocon-fascist with no goal in mind other than slandering an entire Religious group, the good with the bad. You know, it’s not like the Muslims have a corner on violence, Christians, Jews, and non-believers have all shown the nature of their human birth by being violent from time to time to say the least. But…the ideal of all of the religions is a striving to be better and looking for better behavior on the part of the human being. A broad brush never paints the entire canvass or gives it appropriate detail.

  47. Xisithrus Says:

King obviously has a very short memory about the alliance between Hussein and the Republicans.

The average life expectancy for the I-94 freeway sign at the Climax exit was about a week before they found their way into WMU dormitory rooms.

  57. Bob Says:

His middle name? Is that all you got?

Granted, the caliber of ignorance it takes to ‘elect’ a guy like George W could get hung up on a name. However, isn’t this a lot like the (R) M.O. of attacking the messenger instead of the message? King is using bigotry to attack the candidate. The trouble is that there are still so many bigots here that this sort of bs works well.

  58. Leftside Annie Says:

    54 - TRoS - you are correct. ;o)

    Comment by williamf — March 10, 2008 @ 5:00 pm

    No.

Wait — let me qualify that. He will be able to understand that Muslim does not mean terrorist if and when there is any money or political advantage in understanding it.

As Upton Sinlair famously said, “It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on his not understanding it.”

My brother-in-law is from Egypt, his son, who before 9/11 was going to the AirForce Academy (with honors). After 9/11, because of his name (he lived in Georgia) he got so much bigoted crap from southerners that he changed his name to a American sounding one and dropped out of the Academy and moved to Boston.

But it worked out for him, he now makes a butt-load of money as an IT guy. But still too bad he had to change his name to stop the bigotry.

#3, you are an idiot too. Only a narrow minded idiot like you would say something so stupid. Did you have any say in what you name is? That’s right jerk, you were just a newborn. 68. judyinnm Says:

Why can’t our (Democratic) crazies get a forum on every “news” channel and talk show to spout their outrageous claims against John McCain, like this guy does against the Democrats? Obviously, McCain suffered some major emotional & mental damage during the famous (however many) years being tortured by the VietCong. I’ve seen the paranoia and disorientation that PTSD caused in vets who weren’t tortured - ya gotta know it’s even worse for POWs.

Oh, I know two reasons: We don’t have anyone THAT crazy; and impuning Saint McCain is blasphemy.

    Comment by judyinnm

You forgot the most important reason. Most of the television stations are owned and run by conservatives. They would not allow a liberal a forum for anything. That’s why we constantly hear from the conservative commentators and politicians and we rarely hear from Democratic commentators and politicians.

King dug his hole deeper today, telling an Iowa radio station that Obama’s middle name “isn’t just one person who was a dictator in Iraq, it’s a thread that goes through the entire Muslim world.”

Following his logic, and being the traitorous half brother of King Richard Lion Heart another John, that means that John McCain shares the traitorous trait of the other John?

  73. Evil Spaniard Says:

Oh, and names like Joseph, Joshua, Jesus, etc. come directly from the same place than Hussein. Yes, that is, semitic (jews and arab) names.

  74. Evil Spaniard Says:

    Oh, and John, of course.

  75. curmudgeon Says:

Having spent my formative years in southern Minnesota, a few miles north of the Iowa line, I can say that I’m not all that surprised. Although voters in Minnesota should be embarrassed by some of the choices they’ve made in recent years, if the voters of Iowa re-elect this jerk, they can rightly lay claim to the same territory as Oklahomans (i.e., the dynamic duo of Coburn & Imhofe).

Yes, if King gets re-elected, what we used to think were jokes about Iowegians will actually prove to be the truth.

  76. Max-1 Says:
