    Gitmo detainees allowed phone calls
GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba - The U.S. military said Tuesday that it will allow detainees to make regular phone calls to their families from Guantanamo Bay prison, where many have been confined in extreme isolation for as long as six years.

The new policy by the Defense Department, which previously said security concerns prevented such calls, is part of a strategy to ease conditions for frustrated prisoners at the U.S. Navy base in southeast Cuba.

A Pentagon spokesman, Navy Cmdr. Jeffrey Gordon, said the telephone policy reflects a commitment to maintaining the health and well-being of Guantanamo detainees. No start date has been set for the program.

Karen Hughes got kicked out of Saudi Arabia because she’s dumb and sticking her nose up at people. Yes her employment was a complete failure and will take generations to repair. Now she needs a job so Bush sticks her anywhere to draw free money for doing nothing again.

  17. natisman Says:

I can see it now. At the Army Navy game Ms. Hughes will be noted for the the coregraphy of the signboard scramble.

Bush has what, 10 more months in office? I bet in that time he can appoint her to about 20 or so more jobs within the government.

Wait I know, she reminds him on Jeff Gannon though a little more burly! Either that or Bush has tourettes and spits out her name anytime someone asks him to appoint a person to a position. Nah, must be the Gannon thing.

I’m not sure if I could have expressed that one any better, ralph. The only question left is will Dumbya award her the Medal of Freedom, too, before he leaves office?

  23. theswan Says:

This will look good on the o’bit.

  24. MapleStreet Says:

This is going to be a dumb question, but does Ms. Hughes have any qualifications ?

And as for #3 by Die Now for Peace, can I safely assume that the calls will be closely monitored and will drift to static if the kidnapped victims should say anything other than “everything is peaches and cream” ?

  25. flavorino Says:

What qualifications does this idiot have……oh yeah,
    blind devotion to Herr Leader.
