Tonight on MSNBC’s Live with Dan Abrams, guests Pat Buchanan, Rachel Maddow, and Keli Goff discussed the role of race in Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. Buchanan suggested Obama is winning the black vote simply because he is black. Goff countered that Obama has won states that have small populations of African-Americans. As Goff spoke, Buchanan grew more agitated, ultimately lashing out. “Shut up for a second please!” Buchanan yelled. Watch it:
“Pat, I’ve been on TV with you a million times,” Maddow said to Buchanan. “I’ve never heard you tell anyone to shut up before. That was absolutely, completely ridiculous of you.”
Rachel Maddow deserves to have show where little Tucker Carlson used to be.

March 12th, 2008 at 10:00 pmLosing your cool is a sure sign of desperate need! (I am important! I am! Cried the insignificant republic speck of dust.)

March 12th, 2008 at 10:40 pmWhat Buchanan said is absurd, but shouldn’t TP also be putting up the same type of stuff for Ferraro too? A spade is a spade no matter is it’s a GOP war horse showing their true self (once again) or a Democrat losing her mind in absurd notions that raise real questions about Hillary Clinton’s credibility.

No president has ever had my full support, and I am going back a long way, but despite my dissatisfaction with them all for one reason or another, none of them incited the anger, the scorn, and the hatred I feel for GWB.

I believe Barack Obama brings peace and has the ability to bring together diverse people to a common goal. He has the ability to inspire, a rare gift, edification. He is extremely intelligent, brilliant even. He is open, honest and NOT the same old balogna, no matter how you slice it. He is goal oriented and focused.

* The Bush Doctrine is democratic imperialism. This will bleed, bankrupt and isolate this republic. This overthrows the wisdom of the Founding Fathers about what America should be all about.
* Listening to the neoconservatives, Bush invaded Iraq, united the Arab world against us, isolated us from Europe, and fulfilled to the letter bin Laden’s prophecy as to what we were about.
There are plenty more here.

The picture should be getting clearer to everyone that isn’t aware of it by now. McCain is gathering the support of any hard-core evangelical he can. Because these people don’t give a shit about America, The Constitution, The Declaration of Independence, The Bill of Rights (espceially), Freedom or anything else the founding fathers envisioned to the best of their abiltiy in their time. They want a president that will use our military might to instigate a global war, an armageddon, if you will, so they can all be in God’s good graces because we protected Israel and defeated Islam. Then they believe that they will float into heaven, ala the rapture and live in death happily ever after. My opinion is this is a perversion of America, it’s future and humanity.
Personally, I don’t know why people would actually want this or what comes after since Allah seems to have the quota on dead virgins for dead muslims. So I guess I’m asking, if there happen to be any religious whacko-nuts here tonight, tell us what God has in store for you after the rapture? Do you just sit around on a cloud and chant? Do you have heavenly barbeque’s and toss invisible frisbees between the stars? What is it with this apocalyptic death wish you have for our planet?

March 12th, 2008 at 11:59 pmWell, there are two different names. “Jerk” applies to telling a colleague to “shut up”. “Racist” is a fair and accurate description.
Patsy’s racism is, admittedly, demonstrated more by previous comments but hardly imaginary. However, when one is prone to making racist comments, one should be able to handle criticism. And, while I’m quite certain he would view the silly trolls who worship the House of Bush with the utmost contempt, I bet he’d get a kick out of this thread.

Mississippi is 36% black people. Well above the national average of nearly 13%. One thing I will give black people is that they seem to be more passionate about exercising their voting rights than whites. Damn, goon gully, go you think maybe, possibly they might have voted for Obama because he has the best message? Because he has the most positive campaign? Because he has the most promising outlook for America? Naawwww, couldn’t be. According to you and Pat Buchanan they voted for Obama because they’re racist and want to stick it to the whites. If that’s the case, why didn’t Jesse Jackson do better when he ran? Why didn’t Al Sharpton do better when he ran. Shirley Chisholm briefly made a stab at running for president back in the 70’s but didn’t get much support of blacks even she was then more qualified than Hillary is now.
Face it gg, you sound like a racist.

DEAN MARTIN lyrics - Gigi
Gigi
Am I a fool without a mind
Or have I merely been too blind to realize
Oh Gigi
Why you’ve been growing up before my very eyes
Gigi
You’re not at all that funny awkward little girl I knew
Oh no
Overnight there’s been a breathless change in you
Oh Gigi
While you were trembling on the brink
Oh Gigi
Have I been standing up too close or back too far
When did your sparkle turn to fire
And your warmth become desire
Oh what miracle has made you the way you are
Gigi
March 13th, 2008 at 12:19 amWhile you were trembling on the brink

Oh Gigi
Have I been standing up too close or back too far
When did your sparkle turn to fire
And your warmth become desire
Oh what miracle has made you the way you are

And why is this a problem? Black people are not allowed to vote for a black candidate? Even if he is actually the best one we have available? So what are you really trying to say? I asked you last night on this same thread how you know the only reason they vote for him is because he is black. Maybe they like him for the same reasons I do (btw, I’m white). By your reasoning, Hillary is lucky she was married to Bill and that’s the only reason she is a viable candidate today. Maybe she’s thinking, ‘electing me is like having Bill all over again.’ Well I don’t want Bill all over again, nor do I want Hillary. But wait, she’s white. Damn, now I have to vote for her, by your reasoning.

Not quite. That should read: “Buchanan suggested Obama is winning the black vote IN PART because he is black. Goff countered that Obama has won states that have small populations of African-Americans. As Goff CONTINUALLY INTERUPTED, Buchanan grew more agitated, ultimately lashing out. ‘Shut up for a second please!’â€
Ms. Goff was fired up and perhaps (one would hope) didn’t realize that she was running on, overtalking and interrupting (even prior to this bit of clip). Buchanan was upset that his comments were being mischaracterized, but he was horribly wrong to have told Ms. Goff to “shut up.” He could have asked in a much more respectful manner to get in a word edgewise.
