Buchanan flips out, tells guest to ’shut up!’»

Tonight on MSNBC’s Live with Dan Abrams, guests Pat Buchanan, Rachel Maddow, and Keli Goff discussed the role of race in Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. Buchanan suggested Obama is winning the black vote simply because he is black. Goff countered that Obama has won states that have small populations of African-Americans. As Goff spoke, Buchanan grew more agitated, ultimately lashing out. “Shut up for a second please!” Buchanan yelled. Watch it:

“Pat, I’ve been on TV with you a million times,” Maddow said to Buchanan. “I’ve never heard you tell anyone to shut up before. That was absolutely, completely ridiculous of you.”

No worry, Mr. Evil, we all knew your intent, I am sure.

TP has taken down the video, and I can’t see it. But I did see Buchanan on Hardball earlier and he does get agitated about this subject. When he becomes emotionally involved in a topic, he is like a mad dog who won’t let go.
Rachel, however, is always cool, level and brings logic and sanity to situations like this.
Too bad she didn’t get a full hour TV show herself — I know she has a radio show.

Your comment gave me a chuckle. Humor makes everything seem a little better.
But seriously, in all my life, I have never felt the frustration, cynicism, and anger against my government as I have during the reign of the boy-king.
No president has ever had my full support, and I am going back a long way, but despite my dissatisfaction with them all for one reason or another, none of them incited the anger, the scorn, and the hatred I feel for GWB.
I don’t trust anything they say; I look for an angle in every news item.

    * The Bush Doctrine is democratic imperialism. This will bleed, bankrupt and isolate this republic. This overthrows the wisdom of the Founding Fathers about what America should be all about.

    * Listening to the neoconservatives, Bush invaded Iraq, united the Arab world against us, isolated us from Europe, and fulfilled to the letter bin Laden’s prophecy as to what we were about.

The picture should be getting clearer to everyone that isn’t aware of it by now. McCain is gathering the support of any hard-core evangelical he can. Because these people don’t give a shit about America, The Constitution, The Declaration of Independence, The Bill of Rights (espceially), Freedom or anything else the founding fathers envisioned to the best of their abiltiy in their time. They want a president that will use our military might to instigate a global war, an armageddon, if you will, so they can all be in God’s good graces because we protected Israel and defeated Islam. Then they believe that they will float into heaven, ala the rapture and live in death happily ever after. My opinion is this is a perversion of America, it’s future and humanity.

Personally, I don’t know why people would actually want this or what comes after since Allah seems to have the quota on dead virgins for dead muslims. So I guess I’m asking, if there happen to be any religious whacko-nuts here tonight, tell us what God has in store for you after the rapture? Do you just sit around on a cloud and chant? Do you have heavenly barbeque’s and toss invisible frisbees between the stars? What is it with this apocalyptic death wish you have for our planet?

And, while I’m quite certain he would view the silly trolls who worship the House of Bush with the utmost contempt, I bet he’d get a kick out of this thread.

Mississippi is 36% black people. Well above the national average of nearly 13%. One thing I will give black people is that they seem to be more passionate about exercising their voting rights than whites. Damn, goon gully, go you think maybe, possibly they might have voted for Obama because he has the best message? Because he has the most positive campaign? Because he has the most promising outlook for America? Naawwww, couldn’t be. According to you and Pat Buchanan they voted for Obama because they’re racist and want to stick it to the whites. If that’s the case, why didn’t Jesse Jackson do better when he ran? Why didn’t Al Sharpton do better when he ran. Shirley Chisholm briefly made a stab at running for president back in the 70’s but didn’t get much support of blacks even she was then more qualified than Hillary is now.

Face it gg, you sound like a racist.

    Oh Gigi
Why you’ve been growing up before my very eyes
    Gigi
You’re not at all that funny awkward little girl I knew

Overnight there’s been a breathless change in you
    Oh Gigi
While you were trembling on the brink
    Oh Gigi
Have I been standing up too close or back too far
When did your sparkle turn to fire
    And your warmth become desire
Oh what miracle has made you the way you are

    Gigi
While you were trembling on the brink
Was I out yonder somewhere blinking at a star
    Oh Gigi
Have I been standing up too close or back too far
When did your sparkle turn to fire
    And your warmth become desire
Oh what miracle has made you the way you are

I asked you last night on this same thread how you know the only reason they vote for him is because he is black. Maybe they like him for the same reasons I do (btw, I’m white). By your reasoning, Hillary is lucky she was married to Bill and that’s the only reason she is a viable candidate today. GiGi deary,
Blacks have a long history of voting for white presidential candidates. Parse that!

Now, just because there is a viable black man running, voting for him is a race issue? I’m white, if I vote for him, does that make me black?

    You’re a RACE BAITER GiGi.

    Plain and simple.

All I can say to this is WOW. Great white thinkers…and damn them uppity negroes anyway. How dare they think they can actually vote in the good old US of A.

“Buchanan suggested Obama is winning the black vote simply because he is black. Goff countered that Obama has won states that have small populations of African-Americans. As Goff spoke, Buchanan grew more agitated, ultimately lashing out. ‘Shut up for a second please!’”

Not quite. That should read: “Buchanan suggested Obama is winning the black vote IN PART because he is black. Goff countered that Obama has won states that have small populations of African-Americans. As Goff CONTINUALLY INTERUPTED, Buchanan grew more agitated, ultimately lashing out. ‘Shut up for a second please!’”

Ms. Goff was fired up and perhaps (one would hope) didn’t realize that she was running on, overtalking and interrupting (even prior to this bit of clip). Buchanan was upset that his comments were being mischaracterized, but he was horribly wrong to have told Ms. Goff to “shut up.” He could have asked in a much more respectful manner to get in a word edgewise.
