We’re excited to announce that we will be unveiling a redesign of ThinkProgress tomorrow. The new site will revamp the look of TP and add a large array of new user functions. Stay tuned…
ooo — do we get a way to show how often a post has been flagged? Will trolls get banned at their IP source instead of just by screen name? Will users be able to set up profiles that can be viewed by others? Will there be items shining a light on Hillary’s dirty tricks?
I am new here and I just learned to use the site yesterday. Go figure. It’s like when I finally find a new food I like, they change the recipe! (Don’t ya just hate that???)
I’m just busting your chops, oh ye Think Progress gods. I look forward to the new stuff! And please give us emoticons so we can stick our tongues out at trolls.
Ummm. Can you give me a time line on learning curve please, I tend to be a lot slow on learning new stuff ya know……Regarding diffaculty, what is the rating ratio to educated poster’’s….I’m still working on spelling…..LOL…Blessings
I would be happy if the formatting tools worked for me also.
I have tried to follow the word press instructions and they don’t help.
I hope there is a way to cut down on the ease with which trolls can hijack threads.
I don’t necessarily want to eliminate trolls, but when they take over threads, I just click off.
Actually, the present TP page is pretty easy to navigate – I hope that doesn’t change too much. I have some trouble with The Zoo where I find navigation confusing — something like Daily Kos.
Just sayin …
Perhaps it is my old brain staggering at new methods.
I may get my bum handed to me tommorrow, but I really think this website is fast and very attractive as it is. I can understand wanting to mix it up, even when the users don’t yearn for change, but please don’t modify anything significantly. TP, you already draw a great, a positive distinction.
I’m a little askeert of what such a translation would reveal.

Really? I thought we had it as simple as TP. When you get a chance, Marie, stop by the Zoo and let me know the problems you’re having.
One of the aggravating things is that you have to log on each time.
I’m hoping it includes a red downwards facing thumb to ‘negative recommend’, reducing the score. Maybe with an option to not view posts from people with a recommend below a certian amount. Failing that, an option that allows me to flag a poster as unworthy of reading, so it won’t send me, say, good_golly or BERT WHATEVERTHEHELLHISLASTNAMEIS or so on’s posts.
And yes, behind the scenes, flagging at IP address with secondary email based authentication would be good.
I am happy that the system now forces users to authenticate. That was something the trolls abused before.
Sorry for the off topic but, you really have to read this. It’s a memo from the Clinton Campaign to “Interested Parties” regarding what they call Obama’s “Downward Spiral.” Hillary Clinton: Ready on Day One to Not Understand Math in Electoral Politics…
The memo seems to be claiming that Obama is losing support of everyone because in the last few contests he has one more the 50% in just about every demographic they list…what?
They also seem to be suggesting that even though Obama is ahead in delegates and the popular vote, that because he one smaller percentages in the demographics listed in Ohio, Texas, and Mississippi, that those same Democratic voters, should he win the nomination, will not vote for him in the general… or soemthing like that…
Hahahaha! When I get stumped I’ll be sure to ask for assistance.
BTW, anyone hear remember a poster a while back named “Ryan Neat?” That guy could really hammer on trolls. He was totally unforgiving whenever one of them said anything stupid, which is about 99.9% of the time.

It’s always good to welcome like-minded pissed off Americans here.
And thank you. It’s too bad our talents don’t seem to have any effect on our spineless, useless congress.
There should be a minimize feature of certain irritating commenters (FRANK J), if we can’t have them banned. Others can read their comments if they choose; the rest wouldn’t even have to know they’re posting.
What ever happened to Ryan any way.? I miss his post’s…..
Sorry I forgot to put missmolly’s name at the beginning of my last post, my eye’s are bleeding because the new thread has another ugly guy’s picture on it…I gotta get out of here…..Later…Blessings
A new and improved Thinkprogress.org would be to have Faiz run for president. The most open government in history could be channeled right on this site.

Geez, TP. Youse guys should post a not-so-serious thread like this one every day. That way, we could get the snarking out of our systems and it wouldn’t end up all over the more serious ones…

This woman just gets more and more vile every day. And I love it that she says he lost in Texas. I guess she’s a little behind the news curve. Last thing I read, Obama beat her in delegates in Texas. That doesn’t sound like a loss to me!

Download and install Firefox. It’s a far superior browser and even helps you with spelling errors!
This may have already been mentioned, but what I would love on this site is a “kill” feature where you can filter out all posts that contain a certain list of words like “Frank M” or “Gin”. I would be very grateful if that were to happen.

#46 Mr. Evil,
I always enjoyed Ryan Neat’s posts — he was a fount of information and he could blast the trolls like no one else.
He got in trouble with TP, though, then made only sporadic appearances, and now has seemed to disappear. Too bad for us.
There have been a number of really good posters at TP since the beginning, but, alas, we seem to have lost some.
I would like the ability to edit my posts after they are posted! It has been done elsewhere and would be a lot better than having to post a new post referencing the old incorrect one.

I like firefox not just because of the built in pop-up blocker and spell check it also warns of phishing sites and doesnt use nasty active-x or pry deeply into your operating system as internet explorer and explorer are entertwined.
I like how it is know, but change is constant. I trust your work.

This is italic text = This is italic text
This is a link = This is a link

March 13th, 2008 at 8:01 pmSome people get too excited about spelling and grammar. If so, make sure your own comments are flawless — don’t worry about the other guy.
