Rove: Bush taught me how to be ‘honest.’
Earlier this week, PBS’ Charlie Rose posted an interview with Karl Rove in Rose’s “Green Room.” Rove was asked about the “mentors that most affect your career path.” He said it was Bush 41 and 43 who taught him his major life lessons:
Well I’ve been privileged to work for two men who’s last name is Bush. George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush are two pretty remarkable men. And I’ve learned a lot from them, learned a lot about life, learned a lot about character, learned a lot about loyalty and trust and honesty and straightforwardness.

He says he “learned ABOUT honesty”, but doesn’t say WHAT about honesty he learned.
Obviously, what he learned about those things is that they can only stand in the way of achieving your dreams and you should discard them in your own life while demanding them of others.

Mostly, he’s learned that these tactics aren’t the easiest ones to choose in political knife-fighting, and he’s learned how to avoid these human frailties assiduously when the circumstances might dictate….
You have to be careful in parsing what he says; he doesn’t always outright lie as much as he bends the narrative into something unrecognisable and malign….
