Fox News Refuses To Identify Karl Rove As McCain Adviser

rovetwo.jpgFormer Bush political adviser Karl Rove recently confirmed that he has made a financial contribution to Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) presidential campaign. On March 8, the Politico reported that Rove is “now informally advising” the McCain campaign. But Fox News doesn’t want you to know that.

Since the Politico story, Rove has made four appearances on Fox News primetime in his official capacity as a political contributor to discuss the 2008 presidential elections. In those appearances, he has either praised McCain or attacked both his potential Democratic opponents — without being identified as a McCain adviser. Some examples of his commentary:

– “McCain will be seen if the question is who should be commander in chief, John McCain will out distance his Democratic competitors.” [Journal Editorial Report 03/08/08]

– “I’m happy to see [Obama] go after [Clinton] on ethical behavior and because she is going to respond in kind. And it will get ugly and mean and there will be deep wounds.” [Journal Editorial Report 03/08/08]

– Obama “looked arrogant and harsh.” [Hannity & Colmes 03/10/08]

– Obama is “inexperienced” is “not fit to be commander in chief” and has “too thin a record to be considered a serious candidate for president.” [The O'Reilly Factor 03/12/08]

– Obama is an “inexperienced senator with very liberal views, who’s out of the mainstream of American politics.” [The O'Reilly Factor 03/12/08]

The more Fox News refuses to disclose Rove’s role in McCain’s campaign, the more the network establishes its credentials as the Republican Party’s mouthpiece.

What lack of morals does this show for McCain? Rove destroyed his 2000 campaign with lies but the Straight Talk Express will do anything to get into the white house.

We’ve seen that show already. Time for change we can believe in and a 71 year old white male republican that has lived inside the beltway for 20+ years is not it.

Non-consultant Rove: Bush presidential adviser Karl Rove disclosed during a Washington speaking engagement last week that he will not return to his lifetime profession as a political consultant when he leaves the White House. Rove was taking questions at a dinner sponsored by Hillsdale (Mich.) College when asked about computerized gerrymandering of congressional districts. Cautioning against “fancy” redistricting, he added: “I say this as a former political consultant who liked competitive races when I was in the business, but won’t be returning to the business.” Starting the firm of Karl Rove and Co. in Austin, Texas, in 1981 at age 30, he began advising Gov. Bill Clements and Rep. Phil Gramm. He worked hundreds of races before coming to Washington as President George W. Bush’s political aide.” -Robert D. Novak, 12-09-06 (Source)

By Rove’s yardstick, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, and even his buddy George W. Bush weren’t fit to be Commanders-in-Chief, either. Each one of them had less political experience than Obama when they first ran for President.

  22. hellinabucket says:

I agree paleolib. Rove can be forever tied to the worst president this country has ever seen, “The Math” that was so fantastically wrong, the illegal use of private emails for govt. business and so much more that not tying this ideological cancer to McCain by a fake news channel isn’t earth shattering.

    Comment by Rodham Gin — March 13, 2008 @ 2:31 pm

I don’t think he ever said that. It would be rather uncharacteristic coming from the man who said this:

To call woman the weaker sex is a libel; it is man’s injustice to woman. If by strength is meant brute strength, then, indeed, is woman less brute than man. If by strength is meant moral power, then woman is immeasurably man’s superior. Has she not greater intuition, is she not more self-sacrificing, has she not greater powers of endurance, has she not greater courage? Without her, man could not be. If nonviolence is the law of our being, the future is with woman. Who can make a more effective appeal to the heart than woman?

I really wish I had bookmarked a survey I read a while ago. It asked people about their opinions on health care, social security, the economy, the war, etc. and a majority of the people polled came down on the side of Democratic views. So, that pretty much proved that it is Rove and the neoCONs who are out of the mainstream.

And you are quite right, missmolly, the right wing is terrified of Obama. Look at how hysterical the right wing trolls are becoming. I just hope that Obama survives long enough to become our next President. Well, first off, it was just a joke… kind of.

She has been running her campaign exactly as Rove would have it. If he secretly has a role within her campaign, it would blow his cover to her campaign, because this divisiveness does play right into a win for McCain (if he does in fact have a role in the McCain campaign).

But, let’s face it, she is the closest thing the righties have to a real candidate at this point. Everyone knows that McCain is not one of theirs, but Clinton is as corporately owned as they come. McCain has mostly just been pandering as if he is, but she has merely been pandering as if she isn’t.

But like I said, it was just a joke… kind of.
