Thank you, impeachcheneythenbush. You appear to have answered my question. There should be no legal way he could be raising campaign funds from Europe unless it was only open to Americans. (Which makes me think of the wordingof the invitation regarding dress and attire.)

Isn’t it illegal to solicit foreign funds for an American campaign? This is what I’ve found so far.

“The Statutory Ban on Foreign Money in U.S. Elections

A federal statute prohibits persons who are neither U.S. citizens nor permanent residents (that is, holders of “green cards”) from contributing any money to candidates for state or federal office, or to American political parties. The provision was originally enacted in the 1970s. In the 1990s, the statute received some public attention when it was alleged that fundraisers for the Democratic Party and its candidates were attempting to circumvent the law by raising money from foreign sources, including the People’s Republic of China.

In 2002, the law was amended with the adoption of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act–also known as “BCRA” or “McCain-Feingold.” The amendment made clear that the foreign money ban applied to state as well as federal elections, a position that the Federal Election Commission had taken under the old wording of the statute.

The 2002 amendment also added a prohibition on the use of foreign funds for “independent expenditures” on campaign speech. As the term suggests, an independent expenditure supports a candidate (typically through advertising) but is not funded by the candidate himself or herself.

BCRA also regulates independent expenditures funded by U.S. citizens, but it falls far short of a ban. Under BCRA, American citizens who spend more than $1,000 for election-related activities within 20 days of an election need only comply with various reporting requirements. They do not face the flat ban on election speech applicable to foreigners.”

I am very familiar with Spencer House and Lord Rothschild (one of the richest men in Europe, from the Jewish banking family in Paris)–You better believe that Joe Lieberman (I-Israel) is going to be grabbing as many checks for himself as he can. In fact, I have a feeling he was the one who lined up Lord R., through the American Jewish Congress–Joe’s calling in a chit for his BFF, McCain.

Client #9 has more integrity and class than the 3 Stooges who are going on this big adventure.

The rest of the world is not stupid. I would think McCain is not going to get a warm welcome as he claims he wants to carry out Bush’s deeds. Maybe the Priests will have to purify the sites McCain visited as they did with Bush.

Well that makes sense as the Middle East has all the taxpayers money with the fall of the Carlyle Group. The UK might not give to McCain now that the Republicans are leaking the names of the Sex Club that the Billionaire’s use. Now Americans are in a recession and can only give a few bucks but it’s the high numbers that make up the Millions Hillary and Obama are getting. I wonder what McCain will give the UK and the Middle East for a donations to his campaign. I know the Saudis are laughing at this as they could the money the Bush/Cheney gave them or should I say tricked out of them. Maybe McCain should ask the Bin Laden Family for a donation as the US made them richer.

Imagine a Democratic nominee touring Europe during a campaign. The media would be saying that their bowing to European leaders. Now imagine a democrat with a frikken CAMPAIGN FUND RAISER IN ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!
Foreign interference in elections? They’d be media toast.
Everyday is another mind boggling example of mass media failure….

Wait a minute. Are you saying that McCain will be raising funds for his presidential race from foreigners? Isn’t that the kind of thing they went after Clinton and Gore for? Or will there be only Americans attending these fundraising events, dressed in the British equivalent of business attire (though why they weren’t told to just wear business attire is beyond me if they’re Americans.)

Jill Hazelbaker, McCain’s campaign spokeswoman, said today that Congress will be reimbursed for the political portions of the trip.

Sounds to me like the whole shebang is “political portions.” Bring the checkbook, Jill and pay up.
