Those who plan to vote anyway will cast their ballot for McCain instead of Obama (and certainly instead of Clinton), but unenthusiastically. Conservatives who are more apathetic aren’t going to be whipped into an energetic frenzy to go out and vote unless a bunch of anti-gay initiatives get on the ballot again. Right now, McCain can get away with this.
