McCain: Washington is ‘the city of Satan.’

In a rare Senate appearance yesterday, McCain failed to attract support for a halt to pork-barrel spending, losing on a 71-29 vote. An angry McCain told voters today that he was only “doing the Lord’s work” but unfortunately was doing it “in the city of Satan”: mccain83.jpg

Later in Springfield, Penn., McCain told voters: “We were voting on major issues of profound consequences with no discussion, no debate and 10 minutes to vote.

“Anyone who had the misfortune of watching it will know how hard it is to do the Lord’s work in the city of Satan,” said McCain, who has served four-terms in the Senate.

McCain has a distinguished member of the “city of Satan” for over 20 years.

When we in Canada have an election,(Which takes 60days)no one ever mentions religion. For a counrty that touts a separation of Church and State, you guys sure look like fools. With the mess your country is in, why is your nation worried about religion, churches, what a minister might have said in the past . Go ahead, pick another idot to run your country. You fools were hoodwinked four years ago, I guess the song remains the same. TELL YOUR MEDIA TO STICT TO THE IMPORTANT TOPICS THT MATTER TO YOUR NATION.

No offense, but I live and work in Washington, DC, and I’m very happy to live in a city where public transportation is readily available, multiculturalism and cultural events are very prevalent, museums are plentiful and free, and the nightlife is pretty great. I really get tired of politicians supposedly representing the people of America, who are visiting my city of residence, a city of American citizens who are TAXED AND NOT REPRESENTED, casting generalizations, rhetoric and jingoism about how awful this place is.

John McCain comment: “Anyone who had the misfortune of watching it will know how hard it is to do the Lord’s work in the city of Satan,”

John McCain’s comment translated: “I don’t even show up anymore to that city with 1 million hard-working people who c go F themselves.”

Does this guy ever think before he speaks.
He constantly has to go back and clarify or contradict what he’s said.
If Washington is the city of Satan that would make him a servant of Satan since he’s spent most of his life serving the status quo. And what was that thing called?…. the Keating 5 scandal, wasn’t it? And wasn’t he one of the 5.
He also looks like a cadaver which doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence either.

When Bush vetoes, every damn Democrat in public life ought to repeat loudly, on every bobblehead show to which they can wrangle an invitation, that Bush puts the interests of the telecoms ahead of safety for Americans.

In order for this to work, first the Democrats need to be invited on the bobblehead programs. In case you haven’t noticed, that doesn’t happen often. The Republicans outnumber the Democrats on these programs by at least four to one.

Ok, so maybe he’s starting to have second thoughts about it. A man can change, no?

Actually, he has changed. I mean, he changes to suit the direction of the political winds to ensure he gets elected.

So it’s no surprise Frank M wants to say he has changed.

  37. gummitch says:

What’s amazing is that the Religious Right will eat this up. It doesn’t matter that a few years ago McCain was calling their leaders “agents of intolerance”, but now that he’s bowing the knee to their ayatollahs, and talking their babble, they’ll believe he’s a ManofGod®. “Oooh, he’s a good man.”

And, anyway, I thought the city of Satan was San Francisco. Or Las Vegas. Or even New York. Where does he get off moving it?

well, i’m not confident in the “dems” chances either and not because of obama’s association with the Jeremiah Wrong. i’m not confident because this is a country of simpletons and sheeple, such as yourself, who buy into all the fearmongering and other bullshit fed to you by members of the repugnican party. Clearly, the average American voter (e.g. Thecairngman) is an idiot. How else can you explain 2 terms of bush?

Wow. This is yet another example of how right wingers hate Americans and America. Seriously, this is the kind of talk we expect to hear out of the mullahs of Iran.

And the wingers are always hating on other Americans. They hate on environmentalists, they hate on the majority opposing the Iraq occupation, they hate on feminists, they hate on labor unions, they hate on brown people, they hate on muslims, they hate on Democrats, they hate on the press, they hate on poor people.

Well, that’s the short list of Americans the right wing hates.

On My Faith and My Church
    Posted March 14, 2008 | 04:28 PM (EST)

The pastor of my church, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who recently preached his last sermon and is in the process of retiring, has touched off a firestorm over the last few days. He’s drawn attention as the result of some inflammatory and appalling remarks he made about our country, our politics, and my political opponents.

Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy. I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it’s on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue.

Our nation’s capitol is the ‘the city of Satan’??

    Why does McCain hate America?

  59. Jackie says:

Now McCain using the word Lord is strange as he’s been doing Satan’s work for so long. I guess this is to get the so called Republican Christian vote. Look it could work as it worked twice before. As both Democrat and Republican voters lose their homes and jobs it will be interesting to see if the Church people buy the lies again. Next McCain will use what Karl Rove used to get Bush in office. Yes God told McCain he should be President that just might work again for the American people. I know the Middle East hopes it works they don’t mine buying more of the United States.

  60. Max-1 says:

  62. Evil Spaniard says:

If we must trust the Republican leaders, the crime rate of Washington D.C. isn’t so great, is comparable to the one of Baghdad, who happens to be really quiet, thanks to The Surge ™.

    /Yes, it’s snark
