39 Shiite worshippers killed in attack.

Today, a female suicide bomber “blew herself up” amid a group of Shiite worshippers near a mosque in Karbala, killing at least 39 people and wounding 54.” The attack was just half a mile away “from the Imam Hussein shrine, one of the holiest sites for Shiites.”

What a nice stable democracy we’ve installed there in Iraq. And the surge is obviously working like a charm. Yup yup yup.

This is obviously a sure sign of a democracy.

    It’s just voter caging, Sunni-style.

But…but…Emperor Wannabe McCain took a stroll by there just yesterday and proclaimed it safe.

No doubt KBR will get the contract.

I have to think a female suicide bomber has to be really pissed because I don’t think she’s doing it for the promise of virgins in the afterlife.

    Maybe she was a lesbian.

I wonder how many of these female suicide bombers are retaliating after having their husbands killed.

Good point Shayne! What was her “reward” do you suppose?

Not having to spend another day in the sewage-filled, cholera-infested, ethnically-cleansed, insecure, unstable hell hole we created for her in Iraq.

Good point Shayne! What was her “reward” do you suppose?

An existence in an after-life where you can wear a bathing suit instead of a burlap sack ………..

  14. mary says:

I found this (for what it’s worth):

“very (sic) man will have six dozen huris in heaven, but very few commentators enumerated the rewards for women. Ninth-century scholar Al-Tabarani did argue that women will be reunited with their husbands in the next world, and those who had multiple husbands can pick the best one to be their eternal spouse. (Other commentators added that a woman who never married can marry any man she wants in paradise.)”

So it sounds like tao might be (unfortunately) on to something there at #12

And we’re making such strides in Iraq. The surge is a success! General Patreus will give a wonderful report in another 6 months. We need to stay and cheer for the big win! Now let’s go shopping for some rugs.

    Driven to violence
Maha is a Sunni. Until a year ago, she was living with her husband and extended family in Baghdad. Her life quickly collapsed. Her husband moved to Syria, like many here to look for work and safety. Then a Shiite militia group — she says the Mahdi Army — killed her two brothers and burned her home. Maha became a refugee and moved in with other relatives in another Baghdad neighborhood. That’s when she was recruited.

“A neighbor saw that I was depressed and I told him I was so angry I could blow myself up,” she said.

“There are groups that can help you do that,” the neighbor said.

Hussein is a common Arabic name, yes. But Imam Hussein ibn Ali is the grandson of the prophet Muhammad a rather significant figure in Shia Islam. In fact, he’s the origin of the Shia branch of Islam, and the Imam Hussein mosque in Karbala’ is where he died in battle against the Ummayad Khaliphate and is now buried.

It also means “little beauty.” :)

Your husband has been killed by Shia , your children blown up by Shia your the only one left of your whole family , you cannot take the pain and the hurt anymore , would you not become a suicide bomber to get revenge and stop the misery your in

    Yes ,

killing innocent families only creates suiced bombers

    Stop the violence MR BUSH

  23. KingCranky says:

Another thing the Iraqis are undoubtedly thankful for regarding their “liberation” by Bush Jr, all those poor oppressed suicide and car bombers so ruthlessly suppressed by the Hussein regime

Perhaps in Bizarroworld, W’s overthrow of Saddam Hussein “was the right call, now and for all time”, but here in the real world, that decision was forever wrong, discredited, debunked and just plain sucks

If “spreading democracy” is the latest meme from the lunatic warmongers still backing this occupation, when will the US “liberate” Chechnya and Tibet from their Evil Russian & Chinese Overlords?
