John McCain’s War Cabinet

John McCain’s War Cabinet

mccainQUESTION: Who said these things?

“The [Iraq] war itself will clarify who was right and who was wrong about weapons of mass destruction. [...] History and reality are about to weigh in, and we are inclined simply to let them render their verdicts.” [The Weekly Standard 3/17/03]

“There’s been a certain amount of pop sociology in America … that the Shia can’t get along with the Sunni and the Shia in Iraq just want to establish some kind of Islamic fundamentalist regime. There’s almost no evidence of that at all. Iraq’s always been very secular.” [NPR, 4/1/03]

“Iraq already has confounded many Western ‘progressives’ who doubted that the Arab world could ever make progress. The bus may be rickety and it may have lost some passengers, but — guess what? — it’s on schedule toward its final destination: democracy.” [Los Angeles Times, 3/4/04]

“I think we ought to execute some air strikes against Syria, against the instruments of power of that state, against the airport, which is the place where the weapons shuttle through from Iran to Hezbollah and Hamas. I think both Syria and Iran think that we’re cowards.” [Fox News' Big Story with John Gibson, 7/17/06]

“If we can’t leave a democracy behind [in Iraq], we should at least leave the corpses of our enemies. The holier-than-thou response to this proposal is predictable: ‘We can’t kill our way out of this situation!’ Well, boo-hoo. Friendly persuasion and billions of dollars haven’t done the job. Give therapeutic violence a chance.” [New York Post, 10/26/06]

And, of course, let’s not forget…

“bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran”
    John McCain

    Gramps Hussein McStain:

“Bomb them all and let God sort them out.”

  3. Mark @ News Corpse says:

What a rogue’s gallery of barbarous stupidity.

The war did indeed “clarify who was right and who was wrong” about WMDs.

The Shia and the Sunni have been getting along so well. “Iraq’s always been very secular” under the strongman Saddam.

Iraqis have given democracy the (purple) finger.

Syria and Iran don’t think that we’re cowards. They think that we’re idiots. They must be judging us by bush.

It’s the purveyor’s of this arrogant and hostile BS that need the “therapeutic violence.”

Righties really are that retarded, aren’t they.

It just amazes me anew every time I have to confront it.

Maybe there is more lead and mercury in the water than anyone suspects?

Moe, Larry and Curley go to the Middle East.
McSame looks like he has one foot in the grave and will do and say anything to be President,
Lindsey Graham is another closeted Republican with psychological issues and the potential for blackmail and then there’s Joe Lie-berman who seems to be motivated by Israeli concerns rather than what’s best for America
What a motley crew of liars.

  9. Zimzone says:

When Billy Krisco & other Rightards complain about Pastor Wright, they’re ‘vetting the candidate’.

When any of us complain about Israel, we’re anti-semite.

    Double standard, anyone?

  10. Zimzone says:

Let’s get all of Hagee’s exorbitant statements packaged to help McInsane lose this election.

On another note, why are David ‘the Diaper’ Vetter & Larry ‘I’m stalled’ Craig still in office? Aren’t they the guys Falwell & Robertson claim 9/11 was attributed to?

  11. AngryOne says:

Just in time for the fifth anniversary of the U.S. invasion, presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain made an unannounced visit to Iraq. Unfortunately for him, this week’s anniversary highlights that at almost every turn, John McCain has been disastrously wrong about Iraq.

For a catalog of McCain’s erroneous statements, see:

‘CNN’s Kyra Phillips speaks to some Iraqi soldiers about the U.S. presidential election and democracy in Iraq. While they spoke enthusiastically about the American soldiers teaching them discipline and how to effectively combat their enemies in Iraq, the soldiers were less effusive in their praise for those managing the war and their plans for bringing about democracy. Phillips tried in vain to locate any McCain supporters among the group.

“Just to be perfectly clear here, I did ask them are you following any of the republican candidates?…Do you want to talk about John McCain? Within that whole group, not one wanted a republican in the US presidential seat. They were all for a democrat. They were all for that type of change because they said they were living a republican war.”’

Good grief. I swear, every single time I don’t think they could get stupider or any more warmongery, they go and surprise me.

Yikes. They all need to be locked up in an Old Warmongers’ Home. All of ‘em. Maybe they can all kill each other – and bloody good riddance!!

  18. Alejandro says:

    Which advisor wrote this?

Iran’s President Ahmadinejad’s regime is a threat to all of us. His words contain a chilling echo of some of the world’s most tragic history.

In the 21st century, it is unacceptable that a member state of the United Nations would openly call for the elimination of another member state. But that is exactly what he has done. Neither Israel nor the United States has the luxury of dismissing these outrages as mere rhetoric.

The world must work to stop Iran’s uranium enrichment program and prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. It is far too dangerous to have nuclear weapons in the hands of a radical theocracy.

These people are crazy. They want to bomb Iran and wipe out whole cities of innocent people. If they don’t get to do that, they will impose sanctions that will kill thousands of children like the half million that died in Iraq. IIRC, a certain Secretary of State said the half million Iraqi children dying was “worth it.”
