Well, first off, anyone who points to the bible, or their belief in God as a basis for their views automatically attacked and called names on these message boards..so dont throw stones and then chide them for throwing them back. Second off, if I get angry and blow off steam it is because of my fustration at todays ‘Americans’ who seem to have lazily adopted the sophist philosophy of anti-reason, which means that the sole meaning of our life is to satisfy or our lowest drives (hunger, pleasure,ect.) and to give ourselves over to the subordinate aspects of ourselves ( ego, emotions, ect.) And so we have come to lazily adopt another parellel philosophy that was taken from religion, but twisted to fit the first: Judge not lest you be judged. The latter one fits nicely with the first because it now you have I will do and be whatever the heck I want, you do the same, and we wont condemn each other for it. And those who do, well they are just biggots, homophobes, bible-thumping facists, and so on. Well, I tell you what, Iam not a christian (in fact I wonder if any religion is THE WAY, though I believe there is a God)but I know I and any human, unless menatally handicapped, have the capacity to reason, and I offer no apologies for expecting others to live up to their full potential. And I wont artfully select convenient and artfully dodge inconvenient: scientific, medical, spiritual, moral, or logical facts so i can beleive what I want to believe. Guess what, someone can call the very same sun we all see as being square, someone else can declare that same sun as being the color green, but NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE says of it, that sun just is what it is, and NO ONE can change that one bit. Happy illusions to those who hold on to them!!

I love how some Christians like Daryll have appointed themselves the sole arbiters of who is a sinner or not. Funny, I thought only God had that power…according to your beliefs. This I hate the sin but not the sinner BS is SO DAMN condescending and infuriating at the same time, and not to mention it smacks of self-righteousness. There was a group of people in the Gospels who were condemned by Jesus for that very same attitude.

Prejudice comes from ignorance.
Ignorance comes from fear.
And fear can easily drive one to hate. (Do you hate things like bees? Because you’re afraid of them, right? Or any other creature that gives you the willies. Do you love those things you fear or hate them?)

And, yes, it is her constitutional right to say those things. But you know what? All that means is that the government cannot do anything to her because of it. That does not mean that listeners and other people who care about their fellow human beings can’t let everyone know that speech like this, while constitutionally protected, is no way to talk in public. Not if you want to be taken seriously.

It IS Hate Speech, which comes from her prejudices, which come from her ignorance, which comes from her fear.

She is afraid. Afraid of homosexuals. Just like Michael Savage and the rest of the acerebralists out there.

You know, I don’t even know where to start on this. Let me just put it simply. I don’t agree with what she said or how she said it, but the First Amendment is a right, even for rigth-wing politicians who use social/religious views as political footballs; That while Asexual reproduction, homosexuality, and bi-sexuality do exist in the broader natural world and it has been discovered that there maybe genes that PREDISPOSE, NOT DETERMINE, a human to a certain orientaton that maybe more feminine or masculine, homosexuality is an anomaly (in other words an exception to the rule, NOT the rule) in the natural world. Why? because one of the chief concerns of any species after their specific survival, is to pass on their genes to another generation. One may argue then, using science, that homosexuality in the animal kingdom is therefore nothing but weakness of genes. That may be plausible, but predisposition DOES NOT EQUAL actually BEING Homosexual. NO gene that means a human will definitely BE homosexuality has been found, so therefore it can further be inferred (and please excuse me if my choice of words keep sending you to the dictionary) that one who has genes that predispose him/her to be more feminine or masculine, it is that person’s CHOICE whether he/she is going to be homosexual or not. And, I might add, it has been medically, and psychologically, and socialogically shown in many different studies, that the choice of being homosexual is a result of: his/her conditioning based on familial and social responses toward that person’s femininity or masculinity when he/she was a child (prepubescence and teenage years); or sexual abuse; or phsychological and physical abuse; or any combinations there of. In conclusion, 1.) homosexuality is a choice (whether through positve or negative conditoning) 2.) and I and anyone else DONOT have to respect that choice! If one chooses that lifestyle, DO NOT try to push me into believing that you had NO CHOICE (unless you were under severe duress or abuse was severe) in being that way, and, DO NOT berate, belittle or try to shut me up when I, or anyone else, publically disagree with or put out our opinions based on known facts!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey Daryll, sacrificed any animals lately? Leviticus commands you do find a calf without blemish and ritualistically kill it, sprinkle its blood around your house and burn it. It was my nephew’s Torah portion at his Bar Mitzvah last weekend. And kill your kids if they disobey. And don’t sit on the same chair that your menstruating wife sits on. Or share a bed with her during her period. No blended fabrics. And 600+ other rules and regulations. Watch out. You are committing abominations. You could be cut off from your people.

You’d have a TON more credibility if you would give a chapter and verse whenever you make a claim that such-and-such is in the bible.

Are you talking about Romans 1:26-27? Here’s that text:

“Because of this [idolatry], God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.”

This passage is probably only second to Leviticus 18 and 20 in its use as justification for anti-gay bigotry. Yet, if you take a look at it, you will notice that GOD MADE these people gay as punishment for idolatry. These were heterosexuals who became inflamed with lust for members of the same sex because God made it so. Why would this be a punishment? For the very reason you described earlier — it would eliminate procreation, essentially eliminating a man’s lineage. This was a far bigger thing in those days than it is now.

The passage does not condemn people for practicing homosexuality. The passage describes punishment for idolatry.
