Senate may call Fallon to testify.

Senate may call Fallon to testify.

U.S. News reports that Senate Democrats are considering calling former Adm. William Fallon to testify. “Under consideration by Democrats is having Fallon join Gen. David Petraeus, head of the war effort in Iraq, to testify this spring.” Fallon disagreed with Bush’s surge strategy. Just last week, Center for American Progress analysts Lawrence Korb and Sean Duggan urged Congress not to let Petraeus testify alone.

Wow! Together? That’d be like Roger Clemens and his personal trainer testifying together. Not sure who is who in that analogy…

I’m trying to figure out how it would work out for 2 disagreeing people to testify at the same time. Especially when the witnesses are in a “chain of command” structure. Have to wonder if having both testify independently may be the best way.

Hey, hey, what is this, some kinda oversight thing? Well what in the world is Congress coming to if they’re Finally performing their Constitutionally Mandated Duties?!?!??? Does this Finally mean, after 7 years of “Play Dead” that we may, at long last, get someting vaguely resembling an additional branch of functional government??? One can but hope.
Impeach Cheney and Bush and Save the Constitution!

Personally I don’t see anything wrong with this. If you hire a General and don’t feel he’s doing the job he should be (whether that job is something you and I agree with), isn’t it the commanderer in chimp’s prerogative to replace him?

  5. sacxtra says:

Jesus, just fire up a video feed and have him testify already. Why the hell you got to wait until spring? Why does he have to PHYSICALLY frigging be in Washington?! I know our government ain’t going to tell me we don’t have the technology to do it.

This chaos needs to be stopped fast.

How about those white house emails any progress on that nonsense yet? no?

    Impeachment? no?

What the F good is our government?

  6. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

Well, since Fallon is now retired from the military, does that mean that he can speak freely and honestly. That certainly would be refreshing.

  7. Namtillaku says:

Guess they need to keep giving us the song and dance so we won’t pay attention to Cheney’s visit to his bosses, and the Fed taking care of institutions to the detriment of all of us.

I think I know the answer to this one…..
Embarrasing to the administration = executive privilege?

  9. KYJurisDoctor says:

Let’s hear what Fallon has to say.

Fallon should testify. Petraeus should testify (and not alone, as suggested). Hard questions should be asked and answered. Yet, I expect that if the generals appear, if the hard questions are asked, the answers will be less than informative. At least the oversight committees are attempting oversight – something we haven’t seen in the previous 7 years.

  11. Tobie Tall says:

    heres some topics for Fallon

Guantanamo ,Abu Ghraib, Haditha, and Falluja.

    heres some topics for Fallon….

One More. What about the National Security threats (Military, Economic, Health,Climate, etc.) coming from Parts of the World NOT IN IRAQ!

  13. DallasNE says:

Bush will throw the executive priviledge blanket all over this. Anything that delves into issues of accountability will be resisted in the extreme.

But I’ve got another idea. Draw up articles of impeachment and then call them up to testify about the high crimes and misdemeanors. There is more than one way to skin this cat.

  14. liberal traitor says:

Now that he is retired, yes, he should be able to speak candidly. First question out their mouths should be Admiral Fallon, why did you and do you still oppose military action in Iran? Why do you believe the White House “disagrees” with you?

Second question: What is your opinion on what we should do from here in Iraq? Stay? Go? etc.

Everything after that, unless it’s clear he would have some knowledge that would blow the roof off of some of Dick and Shrubs scandals, would be just icing on the cake of the Iran questioning.
