Hagee: McCain ’sought my endorsement.’»

In the New York Times Magazine this weekend, controversial Pastor John Hagee tells Deborah Solomon that, “it’s true that [John] McCain’s campaign sought my endorsement.” In the interview, “Hagee refused to discuss his statement that Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment for a gay rights parade in New Orleans, calling it ’so far off-base.’” “Our church is not hard against the gay people,” claimed Hagee. I’m working on compiling a video montage of hateful public statements by McCain associates… stay tuned, I might be asking for submissions…

  2. Marie Says:

Will this announcement be followed by a montage of the hatefilled words of this preacher.
Or Falwell, who said in Sept. 2001 that gays, abortionists, feminists were to blame for 9/11, and Robertson who agreed.

BTW, I just saw a ten minute version of the Wright sermon, which when seen in length, gives a different impression.

    marie allow me to explain.

    reverend wright is black.

    “pastor” hagee is white.

    you see the difference?

    the msm does.

    and reports accordingly.

  4. Buck Says:

I blogged about this earlier today.

Trust me, Hagee and co. have been told to keep things low-key, at least until after November. Gotta suck in as many of those Independents as possible, ya know.

Can you see me slapping my forehead? Of course! Why didn’t I see that very obvious answer?
Why, everything is different now. I see the light; it’s all before me in “black and white.”
    :)

Someone needs to do a MRI on McCain’s brain…McCain has flopped and flipped all over and with this new deal he is asking to lose.

  7. Marie Says:

The recent coverage of Rev. Jeremiah Wright has often cast him as a marginal, almost fringe figure, but Trinity Church is a major Chicago institution, and Wright has long been a prominent pastor on the American scene.
A photograph of Wright and President Clinton, which was taken on September 11, 1998 — the date of a White House gathering for religious leaders.
Hillary Clinton, according to her recently-released schedule for the day, was present at the gathering.
That’s where Clinton reportedly told the assembled clerics, at the depth of the Monica Lewinsky scandal, that he had “repented.”

I heard this one today: He called Vietnamese gooks in 2000 and said at that time he would repeat it.
The repukes KNOW they made a terrible mistake in choosing McCain.

However, various members and leaders of our church would love to be hard up against any gay people, he said, mentally imaging the loving rubs…oops…

  13. mysky06 Says:

I guess its okay for Pastor Hagee, McCain supporter, to be racist to gays but not okay for Obama’s pastor, Reverend Wright, to condemn white American for its treatment toward black Americans. As usual, white Americas only see and speak what benefits them.

ChocoJesus, I cannot wait to see that. And I hope that all the blogs pick it up and it goes viral. Apparently, that is the only way to ever get anything out against old Teflon John.

  16. Above the Clouds Says:

Wasn’t Rev. Haggard the conservative, Republican preacher who was caught snorting meth from a gay hooker’s dick? Or do I have my conservative, Republicans mixed up? Some times it’s tough sorting out the Foleys and Craigs and Haggards and McHenrys and Grahams and on and on and . . .

  20. dbadass Says:

My families best friends growing up were black. They helped us move into a new town when I was just a little guy. I will never forget how our new neighbors treated us after seeing them help us unload the UHaul. The world has lucked out that I am a peaceful white guy because I would have made one hell of an angry black guy

  21. Ms_Joanne Says:

You’re an ok white guy in my book, Db. And we all have a good reason to be seriously gotdamned angry these days.

  22. MrTimPA Says:

I’ve watched this “mess” unfold over the past week and it’s interesting that my parents are both still strong Obama supporters. Why the media doesn’t go after the MANY (f)right-wing nuts just doesn’t make sense - it seems they get a free pass (like Hagee) - but take one black paster who speaks his mind, and he’s this evil person - and of course, Sen. Obama is guilty by association. It seems that the media types also forget that the snippits are a tiny part of the many sermons that this paster made over the years.

Growing up in a small town (there weren’t any black ppl) - with a family that had some racial issues - I never had those issues. (Of course, growing up gay may have played a part) Ugh - it’s nice to see Sen. Obama address the issue head on - and no matter what the (f)right-wing nuts think - I think he’d make a great president.

He can at least speak - something that GW has problems with. :)

Now, if we can only get the MSM to focus a bit more on Hagee and those like him - perhaps things would be better in this country.

  23. dbadass Says:

I was little but those crackers actually threw rocks at our new home. I will never forget it. My mom had four kids and this was the welcome wagon. I still detest freaking white trash. On a different note, it was a fine freegan evening.

Thanks for the info, does there happen to be any footage of him saying it?

    -cj

ps. hey zoey thanks for the lynching pics…I do plan on throwing some of those in while some republican rants…George Wallace Jr is a republican and was supported by McCain, it would be great if junior had half as big a mouth as his dad…

  25. Zooey Says:

    You’re welcome, CJ.

As if the lynching pictures aren’t bad enough, the white people (and families) standing around smiling like they’re at a f_cking Sunday afternoon concert in the park just make me retch.

  26. Chocolate Jesus Says:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Wallace_Jr.

    “Lieutenant Governor Campaign
In the June 6, 2006, Republican primary election, Wallace qualified for the runoff election, which was held on July 18, 2006. He lost to attorney and Washington lobbyist Luther Strange by a 55 percent to 45 percent margin. Senator John McCain of Arizona, a potential candidate for president in 2008, had made appearances on Wallace’s behalf. Wallace believes that his latest defeat could mean the end of his long career in state politics.

    “Controversy
In June 2005 he opened up the first day of the annual national convention of the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC), a conservative group that critics describe as “white supremacist”. This was not Wallace’s first interaction with the CCC; he gave speeches to the CCC once in 1998 and twice in 1999.”

wow…i’ll bet this would be a real goldmine I wonder if any footage of this could be dug up… anyone know a good resource for trying to find osbscure political footage?

  27. ForTruth Says:

Hagee likes to watch Gladiator movies.

  28. pete Says:

What pisses me off is that the MSM isn’t even mentioning that McCain sought the endorsement of Hagee, and has courted other “Psyco-Christians”TM, while Rev. Wright is the pastor of Obama’s church. While I can’t speak for Sen. Obama, I believe that the overwhelming number of people choose a church for social reasons and/or convenience. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard, “My pastor is a dink but I love the members of the congregation” or “I don’t care for the preacher much but the church is just down the block”.

Holding someone responsible for the rhetoric of a “Holy man” strikes me as asinine. Especially when said person has denounced the rhetoric in question. I sincerely hope the American public isn’t stupid enough to write Obama off for such a trivial matter.

If McCain had sat in the pews of Hagee’s Church for 20 years, called him his spiritual advisor, titled a book after one of his sermons, had him perform his marriage and baptize his children, and waited 20 years to repudiate his comments after first lying and saying that he had never heard them, …. then you might have a point.

Since McSenile SOUGHT OUT the endorsement of this travesty of a “christian”, Hagee, who HATES America & Americans,

McTraitor has some explaining to do about WHY he needs the support of this America-HATER Hagee…

But he’s just another LIAR and HYPOCRITE, like MURDERER Bush the COXUCKER punk TRAITOR to the USA.

Amazing how your standards for measing the signifigance of relationships you are trying to trivialize are so high, yet you have no trouble telling us with a straight face something that even dick cheney wont repeat, (that iran is allies with al-qeeder), because someone who was in al-queeda had someone who lived in iran in his “top five”…

  44. Robt Says:

Do you know who Sen John McCain’s church and pastor are?

Who is Sen Hillary Clinton’s curch and pastor?

what have their sermoning spoke of?

    You don’t know !

So why does everyone know who Obama’s is?

  45. Salmon Dave Says:

In response to all the fuss about his clergyman saying “god damn America”
Barack should have merely explained that when America is sending medicine, and food to poor countries we should say “god bless America”……
however when America allows slavery and lynchings and hate crimes, and war, we should say ” god damn America”
    Don’t you agree…??

I suggest you ask Jeeter and Clem what they think of mideast democracies like palestine. Of all our allies, I believe only one of them , Turkey is a democracy.. and they democratically decided they wouldt let us use thier country to cross into iraq.. I guess if there was more democracy in the middle east, I dont think the invasion would have gone so well.. heheh

  48. ForTruth Says:

Has anyone seen the longer version of Wright’s sermon? It may leave you with a different impression.
The chickens coming home to roost was a phrase used by our own white ambassador that same week in an interview.
The tone of the sermon was, in the aftermath of tragedy, to examine your own heart before you act in revenge.
