Reyes: Bachmann used retracted statement to attack Democrats.

In a Star Tribune op-ed, House Intelligence Committee chairman Sylvestre Reyes (D-TX) took issue with a March 14 op-ed by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) that attacked House Democrats for not passing the Senate version of Protect America Act. As Reyes noted, in order to make her argument, Bachmann referenced a quote from a Bush administration official that had since been retracted:

bachmann_and_bush_kissweb.jpg[T]he expiration of the so-called “Protect America Act” (PAA) has not degraded our nation’s intelligence collection capability. Bachmann chose to quote the director of national intelligence in his Feb. 5 testimony to support her argument, but on Feb. 23 the administration had to issue a retraction of those statements, stating that the government is now getting full cooperation from telecommunications companies and that the authorities of the PAA remain in full effect.

Reyes said that he “find[s] it troubling that” Bachmann “chose to use a subsequently retracted statement in lobbying on a matter of such importance.”

He finds it “troubling”? How about “predictable”?

How long has he worked with these people, again?

Since she is one of the dumbest tools the administration has (and she fawned over Chimpy McCodpiece {SHUDDER} a few times) I can’t imagine what else one would expect.

When will them three job hardworkingest MN’s have their chance to rid themselves of this embarrassment?

  4. Ms_Joanne says:

I see that TP has this under the heading of ThinkFast, but for this moron, I would say that ThinkAtAll or ThinkEver? would be more appropos.

Michelle “The Bimbo” Bachmann notwithstanding, I don’t think we should give GDumbya’s administration any more latitude until it can explain (1) why contractors have any access to passport records and (2) why GDumbya’s govmint can’t even assure that passport information will not be abused let alone ill-gotten domestic wire-tapping information.

I find it “troubling” that politicians try so hard to be politically correct and not “irritate” another member of their group. Calling an obviously mean jerk “the honorable gentleman from…” may be jolly good in the House of Commons but here in the US it should be different. I suppose he would say, after viewing a hoodlum beat the holy be jabbers out of someone, “I wish he wouldn’t do that.” with an appropriate serious frown on his face.

I say, call a spade, a spade! Keep it civil, but don’t hold back on the truth. Troubling, indeed!

Looks like Michele is looking for George W. to be her man, since her husband is gay. I know something was strange about a married woman jumping an drunken, druggie idiot who just happen to be President. After reading her local news paper seems like the town knows her husband is gay, while the cover is they raise foster kids as if to show they are a Christian Family. It seems alot of these Law Makers have hidden their real identity by marring women and setting up a family to cover up the truth. But girl friend is looking for a man, to bad GW is taken by Mr. Jack Daniels and Mr. Weed.

So sad that these Loyal Christian(R) Americans embrace deceit, murder, deception, theft, rape, pillage, oppression, terror, etc as their moral guide…

    … so, so very sad.

I know why OLD HACK is posting here, He makes about as much sense as does Missy Barf-Man. They both seem to put up anything they want.

  21. Helen Hussein Rainier says:

Bachman could be the poster child for why women “should be seen and not heard.” As a female myself, I dislike saying this, but it just provides persuasive proof for that argument which is made by some.
