A Texas local Fox News affiliate reports that “Mustang Ridge City Council member Charles Laws referred to a proposed immigrant detention center as a ‘holding pen for wetbacks’ on the March 12 meeting agenda.” Asked about his comments, Laws explained: “I’m 74 years old, and that’s what we called them when I was growing up. I don’t care about political crap.” But Laws later back-tracked, saying “I wasn’t thinking.” A city councilman from nearby Austin is leading a campaign to have Laws removed.

The answer to most goopers (and too many dems) is prison.
Prison for wetbacks. Prisons for all them thar dark folks. Prisons for dissenters? Prisons for political dishevel? Prisons for you and me?
March 21st, 2008 at 4:53 pmMaybe we need a holding pen for 70+ year-old smart asses.
March 21st, 2008 at 4:57 pmAh, repukian good ol’ boy speak, they never cease to amaze me.

Thanks for posting that. I saw the video the other day and it certainly offered a different perspective than what was offered on TV. The text is explanatory as well.

i guess I found it interesting that Rev was quoting someone from the reagan admin, but with all the typical MSM hype you never would have known… maybe i guess i should have known
March 21st, 2008 at 5:17 pmYou hear people like this talk and then people wonder how people like Rev. Wright can be so angry. Or why as American’s were not proud of our country every minute of every day. Unbelievable.

Fair enough…Because the right sides world is crashing down around them, all the stops are getting pulled out. We put way too much emphasis on the words of ‘religious’ types anyway. Somehow we think they are all pious and proper - but they are not. If someone must shout out their beliefs to me, then maybe their beliefs are not that strong to begin with.
Lets focus more on what the candidates are saying. Those words are the most important to our country.

Hmmm, that sounds a little far fetched…
March 21st, 2008 at 5:40 pmNo problem, I’ll give you the attention you so desperately seek. That will free up the thinking people to discuss the topic. I “sense” I won’t really need to worry too much about my bridge work. A far tougher guy already took care of that.
March 21st, 2008 at 5:41 pmLaws & themancaredonce are an example of why the republicans are losing the American people…….these neanderthals have been allowed to come out in the open and it is embarassing to all.

March 21st, 2008 at 5:55 pmStratRat, your link doesn’t work……the one on your name?
March 21st, 2008 at 5:58 pmAnd Caucasions wonder why people of color say what the say. This one is right out of the KKK Rove play book. As is everything that has been said and done to Sen. Obama during the Campaign.

Christ on a crutch. I’m embarrassed to be American sometimes.
March 21st, 2008 at 6:08 pm“Vote for me… I don’t care about any of that political crap.”
Do they realize it costs the taxpayers more to have prisons for them rather than letting them get citizenship over 10 years? Or would they just not feed them?
It won’t fix things to get angry at the Mexicans (and not too mad at white immigrants). Fix it with the employers.
March 21st, 2008 at 6:12 pmWow, Joanne. But I hate to say this. I am not surprised by that White Trash’s comment. Disgusted yes, but not surprised.
March 21st, 2008 at 6:21 pmObama’s run for the Whitehouse has been a good thing in that it is forcing this Country to look racial isasues straight in the face. His campaign could become THEdefining event in our Nation’s history.
It costs the taxpayers to house and feed them, but the corporations get slave labor from all these prisoners.
I always lacked the understanding of WHY they would want so many prisons and (I wish I could put my fingers on the link now) after reading about how corporations are raking in money for their private prisons, other corporations are getting cheaper than cheap labor.
Talk about the Nazi mindset.
Welcome to Amerika. We are no longer what we once were and the sooner the masses wake up to the fact that jobs are no longer jobs when prisoners can do them for a song and the benefits of being incarcerated, that everything that is being done in our name SIMPLY SUCKS, the sooner we might get onto a better path.
I, unfortunately, am not holding my breath.
March 21st, 2008 at 6:24 pmThat comment about is just as bad as calling a Black person the N word. Now this is seen by those around the world as to how Law Makers think about Americans. One would think Americans had grown better education then the ignorant comments being said today. I notice how Americans have no problem using the availabities the all who pay taxes. Now this city Councilman has no problem cashing the pay check he receives from those he uses hate against. I guess this is how Bush/Cheney got in office twice and McCain will follow. When a country is full of ignorant people they just don’t know any better and can’t think for themselves. Yes this is what Republicans call Christian Religious Values as they really are follow the word and action directed by Satan.

Take the time to read Reverend Wright’s sermon from that link. It is quite amazing and it is true. Here’s what I found most profound:

This is the bottom line when it comes to the ‘immigration issue’, isn’t it? Anyone with half a brain knows it, but here it’s on display for those less fortunate.
March 21st, 2008 at 8:28 pmWhat are Mr Laws’ thoughts on tar babies?
March 21st, 2008 at 9:41 pm.
RACISTS do what racist do best:
They open their mouths and let their words speak.
.
March 22nd, 2008 at 12:48 amOl’ man Laws is ‘zactly right! That IS how them folks around those parts think of mexicans, and what they oughta’ do with ‘em.
March 22nd, 2008 at 9:08 amgag.
Hmm. Racist? Nope.. The calling of someone a derogatory name or slang term is not racist. It is uncouth, wrong, disrespectful, but not racist. OR? Do you NOT know the meaning of the term racist. Personally I think it’s idiotic of him to use derogatory terms like that, but it’s not racist. It’s bigoted.
