The troops dying in Iraq are not dying to defend the US, since there was nothing to defend from in the first place -haven’t you heard there were no WMD or “links” between AlQaeda and Hussein’s regime? If you haven’t, please subscribe to a newspaper that is delivered more often than once a decade.

It is not a scoring record, that is true, but what you are suggesting is that their deaths be sept under the rug so your Dear (mis)Leader can prolong an occupation that didn’t need to be, free of criticism or oversight; which compaq pp2162 battery, compaq pp2162p battery belies your so-called empathy and concern for those fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Now I’ve wasted enough of my time replying to your blather.

Why do you think we live in such a wonderful country & everyone is trying to come live with us? It's becuase of the men/women who fight for our freedom. What do you mean saying Iraq did nothing to us? Do you not remember September 11? Would you rather fight the war here in the US? I wouldn't!!! Thank you all men/women in the military for fighting for me to live here in the great USA. Also, the companies who are sending customer service jobs to India. What for??? We need jobs here in America!!

Irving R Pointystick Says:

156 Fred that’s not true. If Kennedy didn’t believe in the use of military force to protect and to spread democracy, then why did he send Special Forces units into Vietnam?

I won’t defend the strategy in LBJ escalation Vietnam or in pre-surge Iraq. One cannot defeat an insurgency by conventional military efforts. Without a COIN strategy that takes into consideration both military and civil affairs, you can’t win. Col. John Nagl’s Learning to Eat Soup with a Knife () is an interesting study in how to (Malaya in the 1950s) and how not to (Vietnam) fight an insurgency.

Irving: Kennedy's goal was not to spread democracy, per se, but to stop the dominoes from falling in SEA. Given that democracy was certainly an eventuality had we won in VN, there was at least a basis for democracy in the history and culture of the Vietnamese. At least they were not inured against it as is nearly all of Islam. Elections in Iraq have already gone wrong for the US and the Kurds and Sunnis. We will never be satisfied with the form of "democracy" coming out of any Mid East Islamic country. Elections, yes, democracy, no. Look to Gaza and Palestine for your model.

Best that we all turn our attention from blame and malfeasance of teh Bush Regime (noticie I did not call that a democracy either), and exert our energy to getting out. We cannot afford it in many ways, most already noted.

As for COIN strategies, Malaysia in the 1950's is not a good example, an arguement for a different time, and I am lost to think of an instance where a COIN strategy worked, especially when lead by an occupying third force.

Bush romanticizing the experience of combat soldiering makes me think that this might've been his initial psychological motivation for heading into this misguided war in the first place. He seems to have idealized his father's experience as a WWII pilot. I wonder if he saw his 'great Iraq adventure' and his fantasy about democratizing the Middle East as a contemporary version of the heroics of WWII. Only someone whose never been through that experience would talk that way.

It was the 1st soldier we lost in this 'war of choice' that hurt, now it's that times 4000 and 29,451 wounded. Millions of innocents killed or driven from their homes and an economy that will suffer for years.

Sorry, living in Indiana, there is no place I can say these things without a handful of GW’s best (19%) jumping me for being unpatriotic.

It is ALL about the pre-9/11 and pre-Iraq no bid contracts that were set up – Just follow the money(or the loss of it).

And to borrow a phrase from another poster here,,, Yes,I do take it personal.

"Don't worry your itty bitty wittle head over what's happening in the world" Barbara tells little Georgie every night before she tucks him in. George doesn't lose sleep over the loss of human life, in his mind they are plastic toys and when the old ones are used up hid dad will get him new ones.

The people that NEED to watch Frontline will never bring themselves around to do it. They will rationalize the documentary as some kind of liberal PBS propoganda.

The sad part of Frontline was watching how morally bankrupt thugs wage their own turf war by bickering over which agency should be the point then and stick everyone else with the bill and the cleanup (outsourcing the cost).

These guys make organized crime look like the girlscouts

Hanging my head down, bashing Cheney and Bush, getting yelled at and even smacked once telling others this war is wrong, will always be wrong, didn't save a single life or help any of the 29,451 wounded,,
I am so ashamed I didn't do/say more.

CNN said Monday that extimates of Iraqi casualties ranged from 80,000 to 200,000.

Extrapolating on Johns Hopkins/Lancet study gives a figure of over 1.1 million. The study said that this is a middle figure and the number could be somewhat lower or HIGHER. Their methodology has been used all over the world for many years and for Rwandan genocide and the Indonesian tsunami. British Defense Minister called it "sound and robust" methodology.

CNN also said US was in WWII for five years: 1941-46. I could have told them this was wrong when I was in the sixth grade. December 1941 to August 1945 makes three years eight months!!!

If someone gave you 935 lies about matters of extreme importance------would you continue to believe and follow them, saying "oh well, that was the past and what's important is the present"?

If you would, then you are an unbelieveable fool---which apparently 29% of Americans (and mister pointyhead)are!

Wayne, I think W saves the "heck-uv-a-jobs" for lying suck ups that have no ethics....so Hans Blix the truth teller concerning WMD in Iraq was not only ignored but scorned by W.

Mr. Pointyhead's argument would be a great defense for any crook:

Judge: "These are serious charges. How does the defendant plea?"
Defendant: "Well, your Honor, the question 'what brings you here?' is, I suppose, a great academic exercise; but I'd like to focus on the future instead... "

Our "liberal" friend misses the point that the arguments given by the Bush administration to invade Iraq are very much relevant to the "present day debate", because they are the very exact reason why the US continues to occupy that country. Duh!

Bush supporters are keen on ignoring the genesis of the invasion of Iraq because it is the very foundation for the current military occupation. They know it. They also know it was built on misrepresentations, half-truths, and (mostly) outright lies. That's why they avoid it.

Shouldn’t Hans Blix get a medal or a important job?

Is that before or after a "heckuva job" from Bush?
