Hey Fox, how are you going to report this story? and better yet, how much time off are you going to give Carl Rove to serve his prison sentance?

Thank God the Democrats in Congress finally got up enough nerve to investigate this obvious abuse of prosecutorial power. The federal prosecutor in this case should not only be fired, but prosecuted for bring a political cases based on flimsly nonexistent evidence. The facts of this case when brough to light will clearly connect the dots to show that she (the prosecutor) has connections to political enemies of Gov. Siegleman, namely here husband and others including fatboy Karl Rove.

I know that she and Mr. Rove think they are untouchable, but it's time for the truth come out and they may be facing prison time over this. I mean what prosecutor in his/her right mind would persue a case when your husband is behind it? If she had recused herself and left it up to others from beginning to end and they independently made this case, then she'd possibly have a leg to stand on.

What she and Rove, and other Republicans don't understand is, when you turn the justice department into a wing of a party, then you country becomes a third world dictatorship type of justice. How could we prosecutor Sadams former judges or former German judges for war crimes and think that it's ok to do the same thing they did? Their excuse was "I was following orders of the party". Don't they realize that no country can survive with a corrupt justice system. Even the most partisan person must understand that you can't use justice to obtain power or to eliminate those you disagree with politically.

What has the Bush adminstration brought our justice system to? Even the Supreme Court Justices like Roberts, Alito, Scalia, Thomas, Kennedy vote along party idealogical lines. These men who are supposed to be above politics and learned members of society use their own political views when making decisions which effect every American. That is exactly why Roberts, and Alito should not have been put on the Court in the first place. In even case since the two have been there, they have consistently ruled with the government and against the individual for companies and the police. So they along with their party will turn my beloved America into a third rate Big Brother goverment and Court system. My God help us all!

Let's see, how many Democratic governors can be in jail at the same time and not have a Congressional uprising? I guess it all depends on what dirty laundry who has on who.

An aside: NPR just said big Wall Street money is coming the Democrat's way. Private equity and hedge funds are leaning bluer than most investment houses. That explains the bluegosphere's hand's off on Carlyle and company. That had been puzzling me.

This is a start. I have a feeling once this ball of yarn starts to unravel that quite a few people are going to be caught up in this mess. I have been following this story since it broke and I hope that they grab Rove, the Asst. US Attorney's who are involved, the sitting governor and if there is a God, they will grab that little weasel, Jeff Sessions who is up to his ass in this mess.

I'm sure that the republicans on the House and Senate Judiciary Committee's won't even show up for hearings--especially in the Senate side because Sessions is on the committee.

I hope that this time real true justice will be served.

"Attorney General Michael Mukasey indicated that he would not support the request."

This was Mukasey's response to letting him out solely to testify, technically he would have still been a prisoner.

Siegelman has now been released on bail pending his appeal, usurping any say Mukasey might have.

Siegelman to be released from prison.
This is all well, fine and good... But the truth of the matter is we need one huge investigation as to why and how Siegelman was imprisoned in the first place.

For this Justice Dept to deny it has been politicized is a joke. Just the mere fact that presidents pick "their guy" is enough evidence that the appointment is political and therefore the operation of the department is politicized.

I like this hypothesis from: http://www.lastchancedemocracycafe.com/?p=1276

"Mukasey is left with two choices: first, he can order a full, aggressive and independent investigation into the department’s actions in the Siegelman case and, if appropriate, go into court and move to have the conviction set aside; or, second, he can allow the ongoing cover-up and associated rot at Justice to continue, then pay the price in the damage to his own reputation."

Except, Mukasey's reputation is already damaged.

Hmm. The Chronicle article has been revised, with new material from the prosecution, and the Mukasey paragraph is gone. It was there, however.

It is the last paragraph of the story. Or it was when I quoted it for TheZoo.

Before the 11th Circuit's decision, the House committee had asked the Justice Department to temporarily release Siegelman to allow him to testify in person. But Attorney General Michael Mukasey indicated that he would not support the request.

Hey where is that line about Mukasey's unwillingness in the HC article? I went to it and read it but there's no mention of Mukasey.

Bilbo, I think that Obama is too much of a gentleman to go after these crooks, he wants to bring the country together and doing what you and I wish he would do is probably not going to happen.

I have written him and urged him to bring to trial all of these guys, Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rice, all the neocons, all the DOJ, and to have certain paid off judges taken out of office also.
