Giuliani open to running for governor of New York.

“A top adviser” to Rudy Giuiliani says the former mayor of New York City “is eyeing a run for governor in a special election this fall should Gov. [David] Paterson be forced to resign.” Since taking office, Paterson has disclosed “one bombshell announcement after another” about past affairs and decades old drug use. The New York Post reported earlier this week that “state lawmakers are researching who will succeed Gov. Paterson if he has to resign,” but the chances of that do not seem likely, as his “disclosures have raised little outrage, either from the public or his colleagues in Albany.”

Isn’t it generally traditional to wait for an actual resignation before announcing a special election?

Let’s see, which serial adulterer do I want to be governor?

Um. I think I’ll go with the frank, non-lisping, non-fascist.

  5. IgnoranceIsNotBliss says:

Does he honestly think that people would vote him in as Govenor?

  6. RUCerious says:

His first act as governor would be to rename New York State to N9/11 York

  7. McWars says:

Finally, we have a candidate for NY Governor who is faithful to his wife.

    /snark

  8. misshusseinmolly says:

OK — let’s pretend there IS an actual special election, and Giuliani decides to throw his hat into the ring. Does Rudy not realize that he will have to get the support of a significant percentage of New York City to win? Unless he has a way of kicking NYC out of the state, he’s got about a snowball’s chance in hell.

  9. hussein toasterhead says:

WOW. Now that’s a plot twist I don’t think any of us predicted!

I can’t imagine that there’s any connection whatsoever between 9iu11ani’s close relationship with AG Mukasey, the targeting of Elliot Spitzer in a prostitution sting, and 9iu11ani’s desire to run for governor of New York.

    NONE!

  10. hellinabucket says:

what would he wear to the inagural ball?

  11. Badmoodman says:

Good to see the small, little man is still searching for that balcony.

  12. McWars says:

    Seriously…Resign!?!?

It’s in the past, Rudy. The Governor has owned up to his, something you expect a free pass from doing.

You’re one overrated human being, Rudolph.

I’m eying a run for emperor of Rome, should there be a restoration of the Empire.

  15. 5th Estate says:

One constant question that the press should stop asking prospective candidates is wether they tried drugs. The odds are that the answer is yes, of course. Born 1950? Dope in the 60’s and 70’s. Born in the 60’s? Cocaine in the 80’s.

    Who DIDN’t try drugs?

  16. McWars says:

Hey neocons, mind your own f ucking business. Let’s discuss, for a change, not how/when/why two consenting adults have intercourse, but the people you’ve murdered, the people you’ve shoved into poverty, and the children you’ve molested.

  17. ForTruth says:

At least Spitzer had the balls to get up to the podium, admit his wrongdoing, and resign.

When’s the last time we saw a Repuke do that?

  18. hussein toasterhead says:

Oh wait – I guess someone DID predict this. My mistake:

AMY GOODMAN: Michael Mukasey is the Attorney General, who comes from New York.

WAYNE BARRETT: Yes. Now, Michael Mukasey—now, you start talking about Giuliani, and I’m telling you, I think this is, in some ways, a very relevant Giuliani story. When Michael Mukasey recused himself as a federal judge on five or six cases, saying he was too close to Rudy Giuliani and Rudy Giuliani had an interest in this, well, there’s all kinds of speculation now that Rudy Giuliani is going to run for governor of New York. I don’t know whether or not Michael Mukasey should be handling this case. And clearly, he is personally involved in this case.

The hatred for Eliot Spitzer within the inner circle of Rudy Giuliani is profound. Ken Langone, who was involved in the investigation of the Stock Exchange, was the finance chair of Rudy Giuliani’s campaigns. And Jack Welch, the head of GE, says that Eliot Spitzer came up to him at the DNC and said, “Your friend, Ken Langone, I’m going to put a spike through his heart.” And Ken Langone hates—hates—he said yesterday something about, that no hellfire is good enough for Eliot Spitzer. Well, now, that’s just one example. The inner circle of the people around Rudy Giuliani hate Eliot Spitzer, and Michael Mukasey is part of that inner circle. I think he should recuse—he should have recused himself a long time ago from this investigation. I don’t think he should be involved in it. And, you know, I don’t think Eliot Spitzer is likely to get too fair a shake, even in these circumstances, from this Justice Department.

  21. freedom lover says:

Paterson should resign after he’s been found guilty of allowing 9/11, murdering hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis, and losing a major American city because of incompetence and sociopathic behaviors. Not until.

Doesn’t anybody retire any more. There must be limit put in place. A maximum of 8 yrs can be served in Washington, that’s it. This way, no one can set up allignences that would last. Rudy, you had your day in the Sun, move on. I heard Florida has a lot of ex New Yorkers.

Thanks to Reagan (if I’m correct), there’s been this nasty stigma that democrats are in sole existence to prove their worth to Republicans.

Because sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll are sins much greater than blanket bombings and random broken bottle-swinging invasions. So is universal health care, income protection, environmental protection, and other human qualities.

Isn’t it generally traditional to wait for an actual resignation before announcing a special election?

See, that’s because you’re basing your assumption on the linear model of time.

If you look at this situation from the perspective of quantum mechanics, the eigenstate in which Governor Paterson resigns exists, always has existed, and always will exist. We are currently merely in a state in which 9iu11ani is simultaneously the Governor of New York and not the Governor of New York, but as this wavefunction has not collapsed. We could attempt to calculate the momentum of the system’s quantum state using the Schrödinger equation, but then we’d be running smack-dab into the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen paradox.

You make a sure bet that Mukasey, Rudy, and Bush’s illegal wire taps had a hand in Spitzer getting nabbed.

This exactly why Bush wants illegal wire taps, to spy on the opposition and even his own (to keep them inline).

Bush uses the threat and revenge tactics on everyone he deals with, typical punk ass bully mentality.

Trudy couldn’t win a run for dog catcher. But then again he really wouldn’t want to wear a uniform when he can wear a little black dress.

  38. Zimzone says:

  39. Jackie says:

Well a lease New Yorker wont have to have a Gov. who hired a prostitute. Now they will have a cross dresser, Mayor who used taxpayers money for his mistress, moved his mistress in the house with his wife/kids and now Rudy who works for the Mob. But being a Republican that’s all good if he were a Democrat he’d get stoned out of State. Roger Stone did such a great job setting up Spitzer, Rudy might ask for his help with this one. New York will only have the best honest and Religious Leaders to lead the State. A Governor has to be like a saint and of course perfect. Only a Republican candidate fits that image. Governor Rudy and first lady Rudy all in one. At lease Rudy’s male soul mate Bernie would be able to have his charges dropped for the crimes he committed. This hold Country has become a joke. Maybe Denver Republican Federal Judge Edward Naughty Nottingham could run for Governor as he has proved he’s a true Republican Christian Family man as he hires prostitutes from his Court computer and has been doing it since 1989 and continues today with no problems. Mark Foley needs a new job maybe he can run for office to get more kids names and addresses so he can molest them, he might have run out of names in Florida by now.

  40. misshusseinmolly says:

Lemme get this straight — Giuliani and others are anticipating that the Governor of New York might have to resign because he cheated on his wife. So, in anticipation of a special election that would be held in this event, Giuliani thinks that the people of New York State would elect — a guy who cheated on his wife???

Can’t wait to hear his spin on that one.

  41. SP Biloxi says:

    LOL!

Memo to Rudy: Are you on crack?

Let’s see how many strikes Rudy have:

    1. Many of the NYC newspapers didn’t even endorse him as the Prez nominee.

    2. He is a cross-dresser.

    3. He got in bed with the mob.

    4. He took the NYC taxpayers’ money for his Shag fund for his mistress now wife.

    5. He is certainly not the poster boy for moral values.

Would you buy a used car from this man? He makes Spitzer look like a saint. Good luck Rudy/Rudia trying to get the New Yorkers in your corner. It’s hard out there for a GOP pimp.
