White House aide resigns over misuse of grant money.»

Presidential aide Felipe Sixto has resigned “because of an alleged misuse of grant money from U.S. Agency for International Development and his former employer, a Cuban democracy organization.” Since Sixto “stepped forward” on March 20, the matter has been turned over to the Justice Department. CNN’s Ed Henry reports:

Significance of the group Center for a Free Cuba, of course, could be the President has spent a lot of time — especially with the transfer of power in Havana — talking about, and pushing for, freedom and democracy to go to Cuba. So this, obviously, very embarrassing for the administration that a White House aide, Felipe Sixto — now a former White House aide — had allegedly misused federal grant money.

It’s Friday afternoon at 3:00 pm and the phone rings. That’s right, it’s another Bush scandal hitting the wires as people head home for the weekend. Sure to be buried by the time Monday rolls around.

Here’s another Bushie openly stealing. Now we still haven’t heard from the 22 year old who was given 300 million by the Pentagon to funnel money. This answers so many questions as to why the US is in a recession. Americans seem to be more then willing to look away at the crimes of the Republican party and settle for those rebate checks and living in a recession. Next step will be depression and it might be to let to fix it. Republicans know Obama will never be elected President so the Media is doing it’s part. When you look at the Democrats who are all for Senator Obama one can only ask where were they when he wanted to run for office, became the Freshmen Senator and make many mistakes. Like most leaches here they come to feed off of the Rock Star before he fades out. Mean while not one is looking at the best interest of the American people. When 9/11 happen if was a wake up call one day later it was back to normal and the crooks started building the fear factor.

If this guy misused federal grant money, it is correct that he should resign or be fired. I will not blame Bushco for this if they were not aware of this guy’s activities, and forced the resignation as soon as they did know.

Now that it’s been turned over to the DoJ, we MAY get to know what really happened — if Sixto was acting alone, or if this is part of a larger WH agenda and Sixto is just getting thrown under the bus. (And isn’t it amazing that, under almost any other president, it would be assumed this news item was about a single bad apple who got caught and dealt with, but under this president the thought always comes up that it may be part of something bigger?)

Oh wait — the DoJ is Mukasey’s outfit. OK — we may never know.

“the matter has been turned over to the Justice Department”

In other words, nothing will be done and the guy will wind up with some cushy gig somewhere. Laws are for other people.

WASHINGTON - The former treasurer for the National Republican Congressional Committee diverted hundreds of thousands of dollars — and possibly as much as $1 million — of the organization’s funds into his personal accounts, GOP officials said Thursday, describing an alleged scheme that could become one of the largest political frauds in recent history.

What’s the big deal? It’s only US tax payer money meant to “help” Cubans. *snark* It will be interesting to see just how much money we’re talking about.

Before he went to work at the White House, someone did a heckuva background check on this guy.

not surprising given the the connection of this group to the national endowment for democracy, a reagan era creation for democracy promotion, and also conduit aiding in the long term efforts by the cia to overthrow the cuban regime
