DOJ investigates whether Goodling forced out gay attorney.

NPR reports that the Justice Department Inspector General is investigating whether Monica Goodling, a key administration figure in the U.S. Attorney scandal, dismissed a career DOJ attorney “because of rumors that she is a lesbian“:

Justice Department e-mails obtained by NPR show that Gonzales’s senior counsel Monica Goodling had a particular interest in Hagen’s duties. A few months before Hagen was let go, according to one e-mail, Goodling removed part of Hagen’s job portfolio — the part dealing with child exploitation and abuse.

DOJ officials “said they came away with the impression that the Attorney General’s office decided not to renew Leslie Hagen’s contract because of the talk about her sexual orientation,” despite her receiving strong performance reviews.

In the normal course of events I have come to expect, over the years, that an investigation leads to a decision of assumed malfeance or no undue actions. This leads, in turn, to charges or no charges, which then evolves to a trial. The verdict at trial is Guilty or Not Guilty. If the decision is Guilty the wrongdoer in sentenced to some penalty. It seems the clock has been stopped over the last seven years. Everybody investigates the hell out of everybody else but it just stops there. The only time it worked anywhere normal was when Scooter got caught with a flat tire. But that only lasted long enough for King George the Dumb to blow on his valve stem. January 21, 2009 can’t get here soon enough.

Of course they fired a gay. Shit they fired anyone that wasn’t a loyal bush bootlicker. What chance did a lesbian have?

Steve Benen has an expanded report on this.

And my comment: And we, the people, are left with the remnants of the Regents University crowd to take care of legal issues which should be of and for the people. More like the bottom tier being against all the people.

And these are people who are not easily fired so getting rid of them will be more difficult than some appointee. This leaves us with these low hanging fruit from schools such as Regents in the DoJ at varying levels for god only knows how long.

Bush wants to ensure that government can’t function so that everything that government should do can’t be done because they have loyal gooper idiots running around doing what they do best; nothing for us and everything against us.

As if I needed additional reasons to hate this administration.

The only time I care who is screwing whom is when it is *I* who is getting boned up the a$$ from a government who doesn’t give two $hits about me…and they do it without any friggin’ KY.

This must be what Bush was talking about when he warned us of the dangers of “human-animal hybrids“.

I can see what he was worried about. They’re disgusting. And none too bright.

  12. Ms_Joanne says:

And another interesting take on this, is it perhaps because of what she was working on and her sexual orientation was a convenient cover? Remember Carol Lamb? Again, from Carpetbagger:

It may or may not have anything to do with Abramoff, but the Justice Department seems to have some kind of obsession with Native Americans, too. It wouldn’t surprise me if the “lesbian” issue was simply a more acceptable excuse in this particular circle of thieves.
