Plus, there are ways to get around an IP ban anyhow. When I use to visit NaziHounds.us, the trolls would always get around IP bans.

And what would that method be? I consider myself to be very computer literate and I know of no way to get around being banned by an IP address.

Besides, I doubt many of the illiterate trolls who post here would have the technical savvy to know how to get around being banned by IP address.

isn’t an IP address shared by many?
That is often the case Katy. Usually it is better to contact the ip host and complain…otherwise as you say, it is possible to ban a lot of people at once.

An IP address will be shared by many at a work address because it is the IP address of the server. But a personal computer does not share an IP address with anyone else. So, if one of the trolls was posting from work and got the IP address banned, it would ban the entire work ip address from posting. But, if TP was to do what redstate.com does, which is to not only ban the ip from posting, but also ban the ip from viewing the site, that would be a different thing. That’s what happened to me when I posted from my work IP (it’s a very small company) just to stick it to them. By banning the IP address from even being able to view the site, they had stopped everyone at my company from being able to view the site. I thought that was hysterical.

I don’t advocate that TP ban IP addresses from being able to view the site, just post from the site. What do you think the chances are of two people in a company being interested in posting to TP with one of them being a troll. It’s a very remote possibility.

That’s not the issue here. The issue is the Pentagon taking information about Rogers’ sexuality OFF his Wikipedia page, which isn’t their responsibility, either.

Slightly OT, but since the post quotes Andrew Sullivan – the ex-Republican pundit, the comment is pertinent.

I can still remember his reaction to Ann Coulter’s screeching denunciation of John Edwards as a “faggot.” He posted an op-ed that was full of bewildered hurt and anger.

That was the day that Andrew Sullivan FINALLY got it through his head exactly what kind of people he had been shilling for.

I was very sad for him, but at the same time, I thought, “Good. Now you know who these people *really* are.”

Why do you believe that this is not within the rights and privileges of the military and our commander in chief. The major volunteered for the military and died while on duty. He has no rights to undermine public confidence in the military or to attack the very moral foundations of this nation by advertising his sexual perversion. This is simply unacceptable and anyone questioning the God given mission to George W. Bush, should be hunted down and killed as a traitor to our glorious leader anointed by the one true God.

The military has absolutely no business in undertaking propaganda in the United States. It is illegal, it is a violation of criminal law. Where will be the outrage? It is not the responsibility of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard, Congress, Supreme Court, President, next door neighbor, blogger, local church, or any other person or entity to LIMIT anyone’s sexuality that is not directly harming someone else. That is personal.
