Limbaugh’s listeners ‘most numerous’ during his commercials.

A new study by a radio consulting firm finds that Rush Limbaugh’s listeners fans “are at their most numerous when he is not even speaking.” The right-wing pundit’s “share of radio listeners was greatest during commercials, beating his share during on-air segments by 0.18 percentage point.” The study found that listeners “tuned in during commercials so as not to miss the beginning of each segment.” The study also found that Limbaugh “did worst during minutes in which he was expressing approval, with a 5.43 percent average share of listeners. He had 5.71 percent of listeners when expressing negative opinions.”

Pfffft, any minute now we’ll see this story on TP: McCain: We Have “Something Approaching Normal” In Iraq

  2. McWars says:

Limbaugh sounds like the radio announcer from A Christmas Story, reading Ralphie the symbols for his decoder pen.

To the point, Limbaugh states nothing of intelligence. “Truth machine” my ass. All hype, no delivery.

    Also in the study:

Percent of Limbaugh listeners likely to breathe through the mouth and/or drag their knuckles: 100.

bandaid should run commercials during his show for all the knuckle bleeders.

  6. RUCerious says:

And we should care about this, why?

  7. linda says:

listening to those viagra/cialis commercials reminds the dittoheads of what manly men they could be for just the price of a little blue pill….

  8. Shayne says:

McWars – “Drink more Ovaltine.” Or in Limbaugh’s case, “Drink more Kool-Aid.”

  9. VA Voter says:

Still a lot more than Air America. Well over the 400 listener mark.

  10. PeterW says:

#5, that’s because apparently he’s not actually stepping down. He’s just losing his “campaign strategist” title.

I don’t think this is all that big a story — I suspect that most fans of any radio program will tune in at the top and bottom of the hour so as not to miss the show, and if that’s when Rush’s commercials air, this would make his commercials most listened to.

What’s puzzling is that if people are tuning into the commercials so as to “not miss the next segment,” why do the ratings go down when Rush starts talking?

Not really that puzzling most people of above average intellect would rather listen to anything but ole’ Oxycontin!

what’s really puzzling me is how this even merited posting?!?!? It’s a NON-story. 0.18% ? really, who cares? Where’s the Hillary can’t tell the truth threads? or the Penn stepdown/fired threads?

  13. Buckie Boy says:

It doesn’t matter at all, Limballs is still a complete @sshole if he is talking or not talking.

1 – he’s just lucky to have lots of ahtlete’s foot and hemorrhoid sufferers as his “listener base”.

A Rush fan convention would smell exactly like medicated ass.

  19. backup says:

    ralph.

You’re right. This is not a story.

  20. Bonnie says:

All talk radio is a form of brainwashing. Listeners of the Limbaugh show have no ability to think for themselves and spout Limbaugh’s words when talking.

Wow more Rush bashing, how original. Way to think progressively.

  23. zuch says:

More interesting survey results: Not only do more people listen to him when he’s not talking, but a much larger percentage of people listen to him when he’s on a different radio station than the one they’re listening to….

    Cheers,
