Rove’s attorney says Rove would testify if subpoenaed in Siegelman case.»

Last night on 60 Minutes, former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman said the congressional Judiciary committees should call on Karl Rove to testify about his case. Tonight, Rove’s attorney Robert Luskin said Rove will testify if subpoenaed by Congress. MSNBC’s Dan Abrams reported:

ABRAMS: We asked this question to his attorney: Will Karl Rove agree to testify if Congress issues a subpoena to him as part of an investigation into the Siegelman case? The answer we got — “Sure.”

Watch it:

Abrams noted Karl Rove refused to testify when subpoenaed by Congress in the U.S. Attorney scandal, but appears willing to do so in this case. Siegelman responded, “Well, then let’s don’t waste any time. I think the House and Senate Judiciary Committees should subpoena Karl Rove.” Asked if he was surprised by Rove’s pledge, Siegelman said, “I’ll be surprised if he does” testify.

Digg It!

Get it in writing. I’m w/Siegelman, I’ll believe it when I see it.

If Rove’s so agreeable on going before the SJC & HJC on the Siegelman prosecution, how about making it a twofer & also testifying about the US Attorney firings? He hid behind “executive privilege” on that one.

It would be unwise to hold your breath waiting for Rove to testify for any reason on any issue.

Yeah, he sounds like a spoon fed student of the right wing. Doesn’t spell or articulate none too good either.

Shayne, they (anyone from this admin.) have no honor. They simply want to ride it out and hope they don’t go to jail or have shrub pardon them and collect their blood money. I don’t see how anyone could sit through Abu Gonzoles’s testimony and still think that he was in anyway competent?

Well, that certainly is big of him.

  9. Gregor Samsa Says:

Given Rove’s track record, he will probably a) ask his testimony be behind closed doors, b) ask no record be kept of his testimony, and c) refuse to testify under oath.

If all of the above fails, he will just lie -even if he doesn’t have to.

Rove might just enjoy trying to outdo Gonzales testifying. Talk is cheap and convictions are rare, so whats to lose? Take the fifth, or claim national security or most probably, not be able to recall. The “man behind the curtain” might just have a lot of fun making fools out of his questioners while reveling in the limelight.
What do you folks think he would do in front of the committees?

As someone has pointed out,why are these guys from Gods party so afraid to put their hand on the Bible?

What in the world is the troll babbling about?

    Tree falls in forest…blame Bush

    Condi get elected VP..blame Bush

Do you revel in your outright lies , ignorance and colossal stupidity ?

That’s because they don’t drink their own kool-aid. Religion is a tool that they use to manipulate the less-than-bright -like our troll who thinks Rove is the VP. Dumb and uninformed. That’s your average 30%er.

  17. Above the Clouds Says:

When was the last time we saw Rove’s name without “testify” “subpoena” “scandal” or “congressional Judiciary hearings” in the same sentence? The day is fast approaching that coniving, unprincipled shills like Rove will be pushed further to the margins where they belong. It won’t come soon enough. Rove is really helping America see that the neocon fringe is not at all “mainstream.”

  18. MCMetal Says:

    BTW wintermd

Is Condi going to get votes for McShitstain based upon her stellar performance record ?

You and the rest of the imbecilic GOP backers better hope not………….

  19. zuch Says:

Oh, he’ll say he’ll testify. But he knows that Dubya will say that he can’t, and he’ll be all in tears, “You know I want to, to set the story straight and show there was no shenanigans, but I’m bound by ‘executive privilege’ and have to abide by the preznit’s decision….”

    Cheers,

Yea, I’m waiting to see how they will spin this case to the “executive privelege” blanket policy like they did with Pat Tillman.I’m also waiting for the spineless to do something but write a G-damned letter. :(

  22. tombaker Says:

somebody needs to go all “arn gunnutes” on these guys, who fit perfectly into arn’s infamous continuum of “lying coxucker punk traitors”

    Arn??

  24. RUCerious Says:

Rove testimony = ‘lying through his teeth’.

  25. tombaker Says:

kinda. i’m sure arn will get’em sooner or later - these are a couple of the most heinous trolls to surface in some time.

couldn’t the last few of them just find a nice compound to move to, in a nice dry corner of TX, and hang around down there toe-tapping and hi-5ing, and chanting U-S-A, and leave the rest of the world alone for a change?

guess it proves there’s never enough damage done for a real “conservative”

  26. 99Luf Balloons Says:

    Two words:
    Inherent Contempt

  27. Gregor Samsa Says:

I predict that Rove’s testimony, if it ever comes to happen, will be reported in the media in a he-said-she-said format, where Rove’s statements are taken at face value. No fact-checking on anything he might say.

  28. alpuz3 Says:

Well, hell. Now, if there’s one person on planet earth who’s word is golden, that would have to be Rove’s attorney.

Who, on flying spaghetti monsters great green earth, could possibly be a bigger sack of lying horsesh*t, than Karl Rove himself?

My guess would be the stooge playing Karl’s attorney.

  29. Peter C Says:

I agree with And Yet @4,

Rove, testify? I’ll believe it when I see it. Otherwise, I’ll be damned if I believe anything Rove or his lawyer has to say.

  30. impeachcheneythenbush Says:

ABRAMS: We asked this question to his attorney: Will Karl Rove agree to testify if Congress issues a subpoena to him as part of an investigation into the Siegelman case? The answer we got — “Sure.”

Methinks Abrams (or his staff) missed the tone of sarcasm that probably accompanied Rove’s attorney’s “sure.” Like “when hell freezes over.”

  31. tom Says:

Take it easy on the trolls tonight. They’re all a bit edgy now that the police rolled into the compound and took all the kids and nubile teenagers away.

INDICT IMPRISON KARL ROVE. A WAR CRIMINAL, A LIER AND A TRAITOR!

  34. scytherius Says:

That war criminal will never testify.

  35. Max-1 Says:

Even Seigelman doesn’t have faith in the House Judiciary, Chaired by CONyers.

  36. Jackie Says:

Don’t buy a ticket to hear Rove’s testimony yet. The odds are Rove wont appear. Abrams is one smart lawyer. He got Rove’s lawyer to say he would appear now Karl will refuse his lawyers advice. Karl isn’t sure what evidence Siegleman has on him. Now if he did testify and lie under oath it’s all over and all the crimes he committed would be easy for him to be indicted.

  37. Freedom Rebel Says:

I agree with Siegelman, Let him lie under oath or plead the 5th.

Either way it makes Rove look very bad and very guilty. Plus it has to come out more and in depth about Rove having Siegelman Spied on for 5 years. But I agree with Jackie I don’t think he will appear. He doesn’t have the backbone or the courage to do that. He is a spineless parasite.

  38. The Shadow Says:

    Yeah Right

  39. Bob Day Says:

Finally found out what the DOJ was up to. protecting Jeff Sessions. According to Gov. Siegelman Sessions had a hand in railroading him and the DOJ covered up Sessions participation.

  40. Bilbo Hussein Baggins Says:

couldn’t the last few of them just find a nice compound to move to, in a nice dry corner of TX, and hang around down there toe-tapping and hi-5ing, and chanting U-S-A, and leave the rest of the world alone for a change?

They would probably fit right in at that compound in Texas where they authorities just removed 401 children who were being held hostage.

  41. MapleStreet Says:

    Let me predict the future:

    I’ll testify if subpoenaed.

    Then
Oh no, that piece of paper isn’t from the court but from Congress so its not what I meant.

    Then
OK< I guess it is a subpoena but has it been cleared through the repub leadership ?

    Then
Sorry, but that is in violation of executive priviledge.

And the dance goes on and on and on and on…..

  42. Chocolate Jesus Says:
