There are so many other ways to get your point across that you don't agree with China's treatment of it's citizens. Sure Boycott the opening ceremony, I agree. They treat their citizens badly, and always have. Put heavy tariffs on their products that are shipped to our country. Start buying more products from other countries and less from China. Another one to boycott is Victoria Secret: Victoria Secret and slave labor practices with workers in Jordan. They gave them 3 minutes to make a bikini bottom that they were on paid 4 cents and Victoria Secret charges $14.00 to the public. Made them toil 14 to 15 hour days. Imprisoned some of the workers, beat them amd screamed at them daily. Workers went on strike. Workers paid $1,500 to $3,000 for work visas to work in Jordan. So the owner was going to forcibly deport them, leaving them no way to ever pay back the debt of their work visas. During deportation the owner said he was going to cut off food and water to the ones being deported. ( They are basically slave labor)The article ran in the Huffington Post and many other major newspapers. This is why I don't buy from Victoria Secret.. You have a choice whenever you spend money, consumers can make a difference. As much as I can I buy FAIR TRADE, it helps everyone. (Not to mention all the USA products) I know they are not slaves, not mistreated, not children, and are being paid a fair wage.
