Petraeus ‘not aware’ of al Qaeda-Iran link.
Last month, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) repeatedly and falsely claimed that Iran brought Sunni militants into Iran for training in order to launch attacks in Iraq. The Wall Street Journal’s Washington Wire notes that at a recent press conference, Petraeus “gently” refuted this assertion:
[A] reporter asked the commander if he believed Iran was supporting Sunni militants inside Iraq or had any evidence establishing such a link.
“I’m not aware of – it doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened,” Petraeus replied, choosing his words carefully.
He said that some Sunni extremists had weapons that were made in Iran, but said that it was unclear if the weapons were provided by Tehran.
“It is a good bit more difficult to connect all the dots directly,” he said.

Then, they will claim that these same militias are being armed by Iran. This will give pretense for the Iranian invasion. Why on Micheal Moore’s green earth would Shiite Iran be arming a Sunni insurgency group? What you can say is that Saudi Arabia IS arming Al Queda. Albeit with weapons transferred over under the arms deals put in place last year for among others Saudi Arabia, Israel and Egypt.

hey man…im in total agreement that this dude deserves impeachment 1000 times over, but keep in mind, we had to fight like h3ll (and its still not over for sure) just to keep telecom immunity from getting passed, and the lockstep republican congress is supposedly in the majority.
you have to remember, at least half the democrats are paid off, blackmailed, or spineless. the fact our dear senator leader reid simply rolled over and agreed to require 60 votes for everything, without forcing the republicans to actually fillibuster ANYTHING, is proof of this.. chris i would LOVE to see the republicans dare to actually fillibuster the bill to give GI’s college money..
while there are some dems in congress that will stand up and do the right thing, unforunately there isnt even enough of them to sucessfully filibuster, let alone a majority
i think the democrats are going with the “lets give bush enough rope to hang himself” strategy, which, arguably, isnt the worst of ideas, given how much of an idiot the guy is. only problem right now is that bushies are doing a decent job of damage control such that i believe they will, unfortuately, largely succeed in putting the majority of the blame for the last 8 years on the shoulders of the new president..
