I never said O’Reilly lacks influence. Quite the contrary. He radicalizes both those who agree with him and those who disagree. He promotes intolerance of opposing views or dissent. The hatred – literally – expressed by the Right Wing trolls on this board, toward liberal politicians and their supporters and it’s mirror image from some of us on the Left is ample proof of this.

No, he just mainstreamed it into the newsmedia. None of the posters here have access to public airwaves for these views nor do we have national forums.

If you want to equate the responsibility of journalists (real and faux) to tell the truth and inform the public with that of people sitting around a bar or standing around a water cooler, that’s great. Just be prepared to live with the world to which it leads.
