Daily Show ‘documentary’ rips Fox News.

On The Daily Show last night, correspondent John Oliver debuted a “documentary” on Fox News that was a “stunning smackdown” of the right-wing network’s irrational evolution from it’s beginnings during the Clinton White House through its coverage during President Bush’s tenure. Noting the flip-flopping stances Fox has taken over the years, Oliver dismantles Fox’s claim to being “fair and balanced.” Watch a snippet:

    #6 Fox Propaganda Trebuchet?

It’s only acceptable to ‘catapult’ the propaganda.

  9. Juan C. says:

You know, from here you couldn’t tell from what country those news are being broadcasted.

    What a circus!

  10. misshusseinmolly says:

What? Flip-flopping on the use of executive privilege? I think Fox News has always been pretty consistent — IOKIYAR, but not if you’re a Democrat. Same goes for signing statements, ignoring other government branches, running roughshod over the constitution, bombing the crap out of somebody whenever one feels like it, and lying lying lying.

  11. L. Hussein Annie says:

    “Flaggots,” eh?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

    I’m stealing that!!

I just rotate my e-mail address with my server.

So, you just admitted to us that you ARE a pathetic loser. Thanks for proving that

Doc, that trajan is a pathetic loser had already been established beyond reasonable doubt.

I think the breakthrough represented in the above referenced post is that trajan may actually recognize it himself. That means self-knowledge. That puts trajan on an developmental level with other apes and with elephants. This is great news for his potential for further development.

Of course, he is a right-winger, so that bodes ill for this potential.

  20. nitpicker says:

Shouldn’t someone point out to the Foxholes that they’re violating the U.S. Code?

The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.

The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard. Advertising signs should not be fastened to a staff or halyard from which the flag is flown.

  23. gummitch says:

Bart Simpson already covered this, when talking to his shrink:

Then I had this crazy dream that my family were all just cartoon characters and that our success led to some crazy propaganda network called Fox News.

  24. upside100 says:

It must be hard for Oliver to parody a parody of the news. Maybe that is what makes The Daily Show so much fun to watch…. and what makes all the righties so easy to fool with Faux NoNooz paid political announcements.

  25. RUCerious says:

    #10 deedatabaser

A trebuchet (pronounced /?tr?bj????t/)[1] (sometimes spelled trebucket and pronounced ?tr?b??k?t)[1] is a siege engine that was employed in the Middle Ages either to smash masonry walls or to throw projectiles over them. It is sometimes called a “counterweight trebuchet” or “counterpoise trebuchet” in order to distinguish it from an earlier weapon that has come to be called the “traction trebuchet”, though this is redundant.

The counterweight trebuchet appeared in both Christian and Muslim lands around the Mediterranean in the twelfth century. It could fling three-hundred-pound (140 kg) projectiles at high speeds into enemy fortifications. On occasion, disease-infected corpses were flung into cities in an attempt to infect the people under siege—a medieval variant of biological warfare. Trebuchets were invented in China in about the 4th century BCE, came to Europe in the 6th century CE, and did not become obsolete until the 16th century, well after the introduction of gunpowder. Trebuchets were far more accurate than other medieval catapults.

The image of Faux Propaganda Trebuchet hurling repuglycan infected corpses at us through the TV screen is perfect.

  26. upside100 says:

    Kilo,

I agree, he may be the best thing about the show at the moment. When I was in Europe last year, he was on one of the tv stations in London, and almost made me wet myself, in the middle of a pub.

  27. Freedom Rebel says:

Only Jon Stewart with his warped sense of humor, gotta love the guy. Love the flags, very patroitic.

Now Jon, all you need to do is make another one with Tim Russert, Glenn Beck and Chris Wallace. These guys have given you so much material that you can use. They bury themselves on a daily basis.

  28. Chocolate Jesus says:

Brilliant…Daily show is the best thing going these days, newswise, at least in america.. how sad is it, when a humour show is more informative than anything advertisting itself as serious “news”

  29. Chocolate Jesus says:

    >Oliver’s actually a lot funnier than the Daily Show is

although im guessing people of your political persuasion probably arent the target audience.

  33. pete says:

Ah Kilo. Don’t you realize the irony in citing your “liberal publications”? Frontline? Come on. If there has ever been a more wide-ranging, even-handed, T.V. magazine; I haven’t seen it.

Can you name one show/publication, which has criticized Bushco, which isn’t “liberal” in your view?

  34. DieNowForPeace says:

My political persuasion being the stereotype you’ve decided I should slot into based on something other than what I write.

Maybe you could construct a COMPLETE SENTENCE next time?

  35. Marie says:

John Oliver’s mockumentary on Fox was brilliant. He is right on target, pointing out their hypocrisy.

  36. old_hack says:

the daily show are Spin Doctors too. its sad when you cant even trust “the most trusted name in Fake news”
