But here’s a real irony about quotas and affirmative action: after time, some of those who benefit from these liberal, progressive programs semm to turn around and become conservative right wingers. It’s as if they reject being identified as having benefitted from a perceived “handout”.

About as close as “the librul media” has come to calling McCain on anything was to berate him for “correcting his misstatements” about AQ in Iran. As long as he professes anything close to the Reichwing party line, he could call the sky red and they won’t challenge him. However, if he should slip and promote anything “librul” they’ll fall over each other condemning him. I don’t like him, but, I don’t envy his position of being beholden to all that’s worst in the Republicriminal party.

McNutzi has enough functioning brain cells left to know that his immigration stance puts him too close to the line for the hard core racists in the Republican base. Why beat around the bush, McCain is a racist. The voters don’t know it yet, but they’ll find out soon enough. If you think the last 8 years were bad, McCain brings the bad news of more war, and a greater divide between the haves, and the have nots.

“More complicated” in the 90’s? Whenever I hear somebody dismiss an issue with the word “complicated”, it’s generally condescendingly said with an implication of that “you are too (stupid, dim, uneducated, naive, etc.) to understand.”

And what it REALLY means is either “I have no clue/explanation” — or “I voted that way to please a certain constituency at the time, and now I’m trying to please a different one, so I can’t afford to embarrass myself by giving a straight answer.”
